Disappointing Results After a NZ$3,300
Disappointing Results After a NZ$3,300, 90-Day Optimisation Program
We engaged Scale Tours for their 90-day OTA optimisation program, paying a total of NZ$3,300 to improve the performance and bookings of one of our Viator tour listings.
We entered the program with the expectation that their professional expertise and optimisation strategies would help generate measurable booking results.
Unfortunately, despite completing the full 90-day program, the optimised tour generated zero bookings.
While some changes were made to the listing, the overall outcome was extremely disappointing. We saw no measurable return in bookings from the investment.
Following discussions about the results, Scale Tours acknowledged in writing that a client completing the full 90-day program should see movement in bookings and that our outcome was not what they expected.
After further correspondence, Scale Tours agreed to refund NZ$2,200, which we have now received. We appreciate that they ultimately provided a partial refund, although we still incurred a net cost of NZ$1,100 without generating a single booking from the optimised product.
As a small, independent tour operator, NZ$3,300 represents a significant investment. We expected more tangible commercial value from a specialist OTA optimisation service.
Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this program. We encourage other tour operators to carefully assess the expected deliverables, measurable performance targets, and refund conditions before committing to a similar investment.
