Some concern recently
I have been a customer for years. The price is higher than other places, but for the choices of prestige beans offered, it's OK. However, they seem to increase the price quite a lot in the past two years, which make it even less palatable.
What slightly worried me recently, is that the rather expensive beans I got didn't seem to be very recently roasted. I do hand flush, and I can tell if the beans are very recently roasted judging by the foam. If I pay £130 for 125g beans, I need it to be as fresh as possible, otherwise they should give a discount.

We're sorry to hear that you were not as happy with your recent order. Please be assured that we always roast as fresh as possible - typically to order. Your order of Panama Geisha was during our 'Origin of the Week' promotion for that coffee, and there would never be a scenario where an Origin of the Week coffee wouldn't be roasted within a day or two of your order coming in, so it was definitely fresh! We only roast in very small batches to ensure customers receive coffee as fresh as possible. The foam or 'bloom' is not always the best indication of freshness, particularly in lighter roasts like our Panama's.
In regards to price, we aim to keep prices as consistent as possible and don't increase them unless necessary. The price of coffee and shipping has gone up significantly over the last few years - especially for rare and remote origins - and so, while we have had to raise the price of some origins in accordance with this, most of our coffees have remained the same price for a few years now.

I also ordered raw coffee and can wait to roast it.

Unique and distinctive coffees
Unique and distinctive coffees - all very good. One set of pods (the Panamanian) did not extract coffee properly (only about half the amount of water seemed to percolate through the pod and into the cup) leading me to believe there is a defect in those pods.
