We were quoted 47 GBPs for a laye night trip. When the taxi arrived the driver said; it's 39 miles. We thought nothing about it as we didn't know or care how many miles it was. When we arrived at our destination he charged us 68 GBPs and we forgot our two large bags in the trunk. When we realized that we had forgot them, we called the company and informed them that he had overcharged us and that we had left our bags. They called the driver and he said that he could not bring them back but we would have come all the way back to the office to retrive them. We called them several times during the next week and they said the driver said that we requested the long way around so they wouldn't return the overcharge. Do they really think that at midnight we are going to ask for a 39 mlle trip when the short route is 22 miles? Also, the druver did not bring our bags to the office for 10 days and then he only brought one bag of the stuff that was worth very little and kept the expensive kitchen pyrex dishes and the new plates. His boss did not do anything to him. These people are outright theives. We will never ride in City taxi again.

Taxi drivers were pleasant. Company itself is dreadful.

We pre-booked to be collected at a certain time to attend a wedding. This was late as our driver was not even allocated before our requested pick up time.

On return from the wedding we again pre-booked a taxi. This was taken by another group, and taken on a journey that was over 20 minutes longer than our 8 minute journey. (I was told the milage matched our journey request by the customer service/complaints team but the journey time on the app was 33mins rather than the 8mins it took us on both our journeys to and from the venue - the mileage being the same as our journey seems unlikely when the journey was 3 times longer).

Once i realised that our taxi had been taken (we could see it heading off from the venue on the app whilst we were waiting outside), i contacted them and they resent a taxi, this came promptly, taxi driver was great. Journey took less than 10 mins and cost just over £10.

Around 10 minutes after we completed our journey i had a notification to advise that the initial journey booked had been completed and my card had been charged for the journey, £29.70!

I emailed straight away and have been dealing with their complaints department who have a tough luck approach. Apparently the people i have never met before that took the taxi reimbursed me!

Would highly recommend people go elsewhere and always pay cash!

Booked taxi and it didn't show up. When I phoned up they said I should have left an hour's window for the booking. What's the point in booking a cab if they could turn up any time within an hour?! Awful service, won't use again.

Prebooked a taxi a week before, came to the day and we hadn’t even been assigned a taxi we waited half an hour called 3 times to be told there’s no one in the area and would be waiting up to an hour we had a reservation booked which we had to keep pushing back really put a dampener on the day

Disgusting customer service yet again literally had days to get me a taxi on time and even wrote time critical on request spoke to manager who had no acceptable response

4 different taxi journeys booked this morning all 2 hours in advance and for different times all were over 1 hour late, just keep being told one was on its way - not good when these were all booked through an account which used to get staff to work, not sure what this account gets you with city taxi in all honesty as they can't provide the service, have decided to terminate this with them now its to much hassle dealing with city, i dont usually leave reviews but every member of staff was over an 1 hour 30 minutes late getting to their place of work to say the least, really frustrating, undoubtedly there will be busy times but have found this to be to much of a regular problem now using thier service

(1407) Hyundai i40. Taxi driver almost rammed me off the road yesterday by cutting me up to make a left turn at Manor top. No cars was behind me so could have slower down, but didn't. Just decided to cut me up to get 1cars length ahead of me.
Sick of these taxis being dangerous to me now. They need shutting down.

City Taxis cab driver no 727 picked up from Sheffield Centre. On phone for entire journey, drove too fast. Turned without checking route then said he'd been 'shouting at me' to check where to turn (he hadnt at all). Requested that he pull over & let me out. Then tried to overcharge. Had to walk 10 mins to destination as felt unsafe.

Ordered a taxi to pick us up 1130pm saterday night,we were outside at 1125pm nothing turned up,we were stood in the freezing weather for 30mins waiting,no message to say it wasn't coming just left there, I had ordered the taxi 4hours before wont be using again and will advise anyone else not to use.

Absolutely awful and a joke of a business. I use them often, have an app for them, only because they are one of the few for my area. So many horrible stories; too many to mention. One was getting to work, and the only time they gave me was midnight the next night! LIke others say, they give an estimate, but last time I called I waited hours. The British drivers are courteous and professional, but the foreign ones can be very sexist; they won't believe a woman knows where she is going. I use them to get to work; you'd think they would know the route by now. I have had one driver take my money [overcharged] after terrifying me driving me the wrong way through traffic. I have had other drivers chat me up, but mostly they talk with disdain to me as a woman. Beyond rude. Terrible customer service. I guess I need to find an Uber; I can pay in upwards of £100 a week to be stranded in the snow or treated like dirt

Bad customer service and complaint handling. No timeframe on how long a taxi will be, very vague. Uber has clearly ran them out of business as they have barely any drivers and even worse call centre agents!!!

Booked taxis to take my daughter and boyfriend to a wedding in the Peak District . Despite the icy weather the taxis there and back were both on time. Very reliable and nice drivers. Thank you

We were left outside for over 50 mins in the freezing cold around 11 pm (Mum is 81). after telling us it would arrive in 20 mins. Finally, a taxi pulled up across the road and as we walked towards it, it turned around. We then walked into the road, trying to get the driver's attention. 10 mins later, another 3 taxis City Taxis arrived and then turned around and left. On ringing, we were told it would be another 30 mins because they were too busy, so that would mean almost an hour and a half standing in the cold. One more taxi pulled up and we opened the doors and were told it was operating as an Uber for someone who had just booked. We were really concerned that we would have to walk home, but then we flagged a black cab. Appalling way to do business, treating people like that. I can't believe they are still in business. It was clear that better paid jobs were coming in. We live in Stannington, Sheffield, so were already going home to cold homes after the gas had been off for over a week, so no hot water or central heating. Mum told me that a few years before, she lost over £50 because she had booked a day trip with a company and City Taxis didn't arrive to take her to get the coach that was picking her up from home.

Ordered a taxi tonight. Was told 21 mins. Went outside Greystones pub. No taxi arrived. Received a phone call asking where I was. Errrrr. Outside waiting for you. He put the phone down. Disgusting. Rang to order another n they didn’t really want to know what had happened n was told another taxi would be arranged. No taxi arrived so got another taxi.NOT CITY. Absolutely disgusting. Would never recommend you.

Shocking service …. No bleep on answer phone to start recording ….. taxi booked an hour in advance … numerous text confirming trouble getting to pick up point …yes it’s a busy night Friday but if you can’t take a booking due to overload then don’t promise a taxis on way Bad …. No wider Uber are telling charge of taxi services

Pre booked a taxi back from work. No taxi turned up so I checked the app to find the booking had been cancelled. Tried to book again and just came up assigning driver after half an hour of that and still not been assigned a driver gave up waiting.

Booked a cab on the app. It didn't process and has to order another cab from elsewhere and then I got charged a 'cancellation fee' Terrible app. Avoid.

I used City Taxi in Sheffield in the past and had good experience, however lately their service deteriorated to the point that I am giving them one star and warning you to avoid their services.

I am only needing a cab a couple of times a month, but since summer 2022 I noticed that pre-booking the cab became unreliable. Two times in a row City Taxi texted me after the time of booking is passed that “they didn’t find a driver and had to cancel”.
So last few times I booked to use a cab straight away as I thought I’d only get a booking if the car was available. Unfortunately even then City Taxi managed to mistreat me. Same as some other commentators on here, I stood outside of my house when I got a message that my driver has arrived. There were no car outside of my house, but I know they do it sometimes to make you come out in time for driver’s arrival so I patiently waited. A few minutes later a driver called to pronounce that he is waiting for me at the address. It was surreal because there were no car in sight. I repeated my address (the address of booking) to the driver and told him he is not where he is supposed to be. Driver hung up on me and the next thing is a text from City Taxi that I am charged £3 for a no show. I’ve immediately booked a car through Uber app, luckily one turned up within two minutes and I made it on time to my appointment.
Needless to say, I will never be using City Taxi again.

Absolutely awful second time pre booking a taxi for hospital appointments and it is late again. First taxi was late by 37 minutes and second time was late by 30 minutes. Turned up late to both appointments but was lucky they saw me. What is the point of pre booking in advance if they always do this. So frustrating will not be using city ever again!!!!!

If it was possible to give no stars I would. Taxi booked for 5pm to train station. No taxi came, rang was told no taxi yet assigned with no estimate of how long it would be.
