Friendly and reasonable... maybe too reasonable
Showsec staff have almost always been friendly, helpful, patient, cheerful, kind, caring and understanding. At every event I've attended where they have taken care of security, no matter which venue or city, they have always made me feel well cared for. Exceptions to this have been very minor and very rare. Almost without fail, their presence, attitude and behaviour has enhanced the experience. They've taken care of me when I was unwell, they've been accommodating, patient and understanding with my disabled offspring, they've ensured that we were hydrated, safe and comfortable. They've listened attentively. And in 95% of cases, responded appropriately and helpfully. The only thing I can fault them on is that, without fail, the bag checks are cursory and ineffective. But apart from that, I always feel reassured when I see their yellow jackets at an event. I know they get a lot of hassle, stress and abuse, but, in my experience, they are always professional and reasonable.
Recruitment process is rubbish
The recruitment process is rubbish. Misleading emails and long wait times. Always threatening to close down your application during your recruitment process. I won’t recommend this to anyone.

Just watched aload of videos on Facebook if show sec employees acting like police. Assaulting people in public places . Making disgusting allocations just for walking down the street using there mobile phones . Calling people perveerts and pedophiles. Threats of assault also threatening to take people's property away. Who the hell trains these people. Is behaviour like this part of their training because if so then people should seriously be worried when they see show sec personnel

They decide to let me go after I got a cop2 but had a very reasonable excuse as they know I have a flexible full time job so I can be working or travelling for my shift anytime if needed and at last min notice which hasn’t happened for almost a whole year till recently I spoke to someone on the phone who says these things normally get revoked But after Showsec Hr emailed me asking for the reason they sent me another email within 45 mins to say it won’t be revoked meaning it took them 3 days to respond to my email but taken them less then a hour to understand take consideration to my matter and let me go for no reason the hr have had it out for me as well as some team leaders it’s a disgrace because I done quite a few shifts as well with em and they always make me the first person to be cancelled of any show which isn’t fair
Absolutely appalling.
You would think, after the severe security threats that have occurred across arenas in the UK in recent years, a thorough bag search would have been conducted. NO bags were searched at the venue. I watched several people's bags not even be looked at, with the Showsec staff simply asking if their bag was within the required measurements and if they were carrying alcohol.
In addition to this, the security inside the venue was incredibly lacklustre. Zero attempts were made to prevent people from pushing/shoving their way through others to get to the front, no response was given by Showsec to individuals waving for help during the show. The security behind the front barrier were so terrible that they made DIRECT eye contact with an incredibly inebriated lady next to me who was actively using an e-cigarette in the middle of the venue, and they did nothing to stop her or help those of us who were gesturing for help.
All in all, I can safely say that Showsec ruined my experience. I felt incredibly unsafe the whole evening, and I now actively dread attending shows that I know Showsec will be working. Of the 20+ staff I encountered across the day (mind you, I was queuing from 10am until 6pm), I encountered two members of staff who were nice to any of us. Appalling.

Had my evenung ruined last night due to the way me my partner and freinds were treated at Manchester apollo we had tickets for a band called the lottery winners i was the youngest person out the group of 4 people me being 56 and the oldest 61. Me and my partner and my freind and his partner. when trying to gain entrance to venue which id visited over 60 times through out my life from the age of 16 with no issues I was asked by security on the door had i been drinking to which i replied yes id we had been to weatherspoons for tea and had 3 pints on arrival at the venue i was then told by the door man I LOOKED A BIT STRANGE and told the 4 of us we could not come in the venue even though their was no issues with the other 3 people in the group and to go away have a coffe and come back half an hour later .Which i was very shocked and upset at with out argument or confrontation we walked away and walked round the block came back 20 minutes later and to be told again we cant come in has half an hour had not passed . So we walked off again and came back after another 15 minutes and was eventully allowed access the support bands had finihed and the main band were already on stage and couple of songs into their set . We were instructed none of us could buy a drink and escorted to our seats were another security guy was told to stand near us and keep an eye on us . My evening was totally ruined by SHOWSEC employes to the extent that i told my partner that it will probably the last time i ever by tickets for Manchester apollo due to my experience and my bad feelings i was left with and the treatment i recieved from SHOWSEC STAFF
Don't use.your.camera to film them.
They think they have the right to stop people from filming in a public place. They have no legal powers however.they think they have.
I attended a Bring me the horizon…
I attended a Bring me the horizon concert on Saturday with my partner and had severe concerns with the lack of proper security at the venue.
To begin with we were allowed to walk straight past staff towards the main queue where the metal detectors and dogs were.
Staff didn't seem to know their left from right when trying to organise the queues.
When we went through the detectors we should have lit them up like a Christmas tree especially myself as I was wearing a variety of different metals across my outfit including chains, spikes and a steel Boned corset however the detectors didn't alert once nor were we seeped with a wand detector. My partner was carrying some of his tramadol prescription and the dogs didn't pick up on that which was a major red flag due to tramadol being an opiate. The dogs also failed to pick up on cocaine and weed brought in by a lad in the seats next to us who didn't even have a ticket for the show and still somehow got in past 4 waves of security. Not one person was searched on entry and people were entering with huge bags and rucksacks left unchecked. The staff had no idea where anything was including toilets when asked for direction and some hardly spoke English at all.
This was my first concert at the AO arena since the Ariana Grande bomb incident and security hasn't improved one bit.
It's rather disgusting knowing that the same incident could happen again due to staff negligence and/or incompetence.
Unpleasant staff who seem to hate gig going customers - avoid
Staff from Showsec refused me entry to an O2 Academy on the grounds of having a large bag, despite my bag being foldable to A4 size and smaller than many they were letting in. When I tried to reason with them the staff treated me like a small child, barking the same order at me without any capacity for listening or human interaction and literally showing me what an A4 piece of paper was. One particular staff member seemed to enjoy refusing me entry to the event, smiling the whole time and laughing with his Showsec mates at the door. Ok they don't make the policy, but they choose how to enforce it. After experiencing feelings of humiliation, disappointment and zero empathy (actually can empathy have a negative score?) I sincerely hope that people stop contracting these people. I dread to think how they would be handling actual crowd problems - terrifying.
