Shurgard Self Storage - Barking - Beckton Avis 105

Shurgard will lure you in with reasonable prices, sometimes as low as £1 a month, but the moment they earn your trust, they begin to hike their prices in the most ridiculous, inconsiderate and callous manner possible. What makes it worse is if you want to leave as a result of these hikes, they will offer you a reduction to keep you which highlights just how diabolical and devious this company is.

They also do not have a customer complaints department or a dedicated team to deal with escalations, which empowers their staff members to get away with all manner of disrespectful practices, which I personally experienced, but when it was time to log a complaint about it, the process was unsatisfactory and felt illegal. No company of this magnitude should be allowed to get away with operating like this in this country.

Finally, I would rather sell my valuables than EVER patronize Shurgard in my life and until I die, I will do everything possible to ensure that as many people as possible boycott this company until I receive a clear apology and admission that the manager at Shurgard, Beckton Jenkins lane was out of order and extremely unprofessional with how he handled me as a customer.

If you stay in Beckton, East London, or close to the unit at Jenkins Lane, I would recommend a total abandonment of this unit. Put your stuff elsewhere, as several other storage units have sprung up around Jenkins Lane, and the monopoly Shurgard held in this area has certainly been broken.

PLEASE leave Shurgard alone. They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced and the manager at Beckton is one of the poster boys for this atrocious customer service. I am utterly disappointed and hurt by Shurgards practices.

I used by the the storage facilities for the first recently and I had a extremely pleasant and helpful gentlemen call Louis at Barking, 100 Jenkins Lane he helped me and explained everything in detail he also provided a good service as he took me up to the unit showed me around and how to use everything within the facilities.

Bigger space than I thought. But too technical as someone doesn’t use smart phone will struggle to use.

1. The man at the desk looked at me like I was an idiot when I asked what floor I'm on....
2. And the main reason for 3 stars.
I RESERVED a unit last week. Then recieved no less than 11 calls a day from 8am till 6pm every single day. I told them to stop calling which only increased their efforts with emails and texts..
No pressure for commitment my left buttcheek..

Nobody say something like I need to come there to take the keys...if I do online booking they need to leave the key there in safe box and send the PIN via email.... useless and west of time

Attentive and easy to deal with. Moving your belongings into storage is never easy but the receptionist made the whole experience a breeze.

Extra bud experience: I open my storage and I founded bud surprise.
A lot box open, all items in floor, item missed, box completely empty, box open with knife. I found a luggage no my, inside, now in the hand of police man.
Sale department did not supported me, they say jit is impossible.
Exactly insurance will refund me only for the items with proof payment.

Be careful, all one can open your storage. They Change cylinder and key.
The people can just with smAll knife take of cylinder from door
and open storage. No support no help.

Easy to access and didn’t need to meet anyone for assistance. The storage facility is also clean and secure

Started with £120 for the storage unit (10sqm) two years ago, from October 2024 ..... £350, staff is excellent as always very friendly and professional because they are at the front with these rip off companies.

I like the way you accomodated and showed me around before booking the storage. But once its booked when I went to see the storage it was dirty with marks and no lock was left in the storage. I have to leave the storage unlocked with stuff in it for a day or so.
Once informed reception then the guy was very helpful and he moped the floor and provided with the lock too the following day.

I booked everything online, I got to the Barking centre on a Saturday evening and to my amazement without any staff on the premise the process to get into the storage went smooth using the QR code. I stored my items stored, fully secured and looked with the padlock I bought from Shurgard.

It’s was easy to use.
