Clean and well situated storage unit. Found the size estimator really helpful - though definitely could have sized down, and navigating the facility to find my unit is straightforward and simple.

Shurgard's Rodent-Infested Unit & Insurance Runaround - AVOID

I am writing a severe warning to anyone considering Shurgard Bloomsbury.

The Damage: On September 22, 2025, I reported severe rodent infestation in my storage unit (Unit 0420). The vermin urine and feces caused significant damage to my valuable personal property.

The Insurance Sham: Shurgard outsources their insurance to Marsh Claims (Ref: 25194284). My claim was approved on October 9, 2025, with a promise of funds within 30 working days.

The Runaround & Ghosting: After 60 business days (over 2.5 months), I have received nothing. Marsh Claims has completely ghosted all my emails since November 25, 2025. When I asked Shurgard for help, their staff explicitly stated, "we don't deal with it, the insurance team does," and denied all responsibility for their failure.

The Conclusion: Shurgard Bloomsbury collects money for a service (insured storage) and then abandons customers when their chosen partner fails to deliver. They create an impenetrable wall between you and your rightful claim. This is not just poor service; it is a deceptive and negligent business practice that has left me with damaged belongings and a significant financial loss. I believe their operational model is designed to frustrate claimants into giving up.

DO NOT STORE HERE if you value your possessions or expect a company to honour its obligations.

I'm pretty sure this business malpractice I've been put through is illegal.

Rodent feces in multiple storage units

One month after I began renting my storage unit, I discovered that mice had defecated throughout my belongings and had also caused damage to some of my items. I requested not to be charged for the following month and asked for a different unit, on the condition that the rodent issue would be resolved and not recur. Shurgard only offered a unit change. I accepted the offer, but within a few weeks, the mouse droppings returned. It seems the entire Bloomsbury facility is infested and Shurgard is not doing anything about that!

Easy access and everything was fine in…

Easy access and everything was fine in my Shurgard storage on 12/09/2024, and on the same day 12/09/2924 I moved my stuff to Shurgard warehouse storage, on the same day 12/09/2024 it was a bad day for me because someone stole my money cash at the bus station in Russell Square on my way to my hotel in Camden Town london, the man took all my money on the Russell Square bus station, the thief guy followed me to my bus station in russell square in london city, my whole life savings have gone the same day i move my stuff to Shurgard warehouse storage, my money 80,0000 euros gone on the same day on the 9th of december 2024 that i move my stuff to Shurgardwarehouse storage, I lost all my money to a guy at Russell Square bus station in london city, but I'm ok and I know where my lost money problems came from, the same thing happened to me in Estonia Tallinn at the Tallinn travel harbor station few weeks ago, I'm aware of my lost money problems, I don't blame anyone and businesses for my homeless and stateless and bank problems, I knew where my criminals come from, but my God will sees me through it all, cheers, Regards Precious Raymond

The facility is great and as far as I…

The facility is great and as far as I can see, is very secure. However, the price hikes are hard to manage. The £1 off can quickly increase to nearly 200 in 6 months. Unfortunately, it is not a long term solution. I had asked I'd they go easy with the price hikes on long term customers but they don't. 20-30% price hike every 6 months with increase in insurance premium as well can quickly add. Unfortunately, despite liking the facility and location, in the long run, it is not feasible.

It's a shame, Shurgard. You are losing customers who could potentially stay with you for decades. I am certainly looking for a facility where I can store my things for the very long term.

Even waiting 12mths to hike prices up so much will benefit you amd prevent you losing potentially loyal customer.

A great facility but a great shame about the large price hikes every 6 months.

Dear customer, we always try to provide our customers the best value for money and understand that a rent increase is never welcome. We invite you to your storage center to go through the different options and maybe move to a cheaper unit. Sure we will be able to find a solution together.

Poor response from Customer Support - Access Denied

The onboarding process was all automated and easy. My first access was fine, I was able to access and keep my things easily. But on a critical time, I could not access, I call their numbers both store and office in Camden. The person said they will call, but never did. I called again several times, no one picked. I had to wait in the door. I emailed, no one responded. I accessed through another customer's help thankfully. After couple of days I called again asking for access and the reset code. They promised again they will send email with access code within minutes. I have not yet received any call or email with access. I am now worried I will be stranded when I get back to retrieve my things from the storage.

Fire alarm issues - again!

They may or may not be good at their core business, but they need to sort out their fire alarm and smoke extractor. The noise it triggers is incredibly loud, and disturbs local residents, especially at night. Supposedly they should attend within an hour, not always the case. Surely this is of importance to those using the Bloomsbury facility as well as local people, it may be a false alarm or a real fire. At night sometimes, I am told, whoever attends from a security company does not always know the codes to access the panel etc.

Unpleasant experience with Shurgard

I booked a unit in Shurgard Bloomsbury via phone call, they were very kind and helpful but apparently not enough. Before the end of the second month rent I called them and updated that I would like to finish the use of the unit and asked them if that OK, should I need to do anything else ? I've been told that all is good and that's it.
5 months after I've received from a debt collection company an email regarding a debt to Shurgard. I called Shurgard  immediately and I've been told that I owe them money since I haven't noticed them 15 days in advance via email. Well, I haven't been informed about the 15 days notice and when I've called them they didn't said anything regarding emailing them too.
Very frustrating to be treated as a criminal. Thank you Shurgard for that experience, will never use nor recommend you. All the best
