Really thorough service from start to finish in helping us fit a blackout blind behind our plantation shutters. From the FaceTime consultation and measurement to the efficient, tidy and professional installation, we really can't fault The Shutter Shop.

Last summer, I ordered shutters with integrated black out blinds from The Shutter Shop. I had no previous experience of using shutters but I knew I had to do something drastic to counter the problem of our increasingly hot summers. The back rooms of my flat face south and our building adjoins a school playground, so they get the full force of the daytime sun. The Shutter Shop were fantastic to deal with and I felt confident i was receiving good advice. The shutters were installed last October and I was happy with the installation. However, the 'proof of the pudding' has only come during the recent and unexpected late spring heat wave.

The Shutter Shop offered me various options. First of all, whether to order shutters alone, or shutters with integrated black out blinds. I am very glad that I ordered the latter. The shutters alone are effective in normal conditions, but in bright, strong sunlight plenty of light still gets in. The integrated blind creates almost total blackout, ideal in the hottest hours of the day.

With the integrated model, you can choose wheher to use just the blind, just the shutters, or the combination.

However, a total blackout, using both the blind and the shutters also blocks air flow. For the first few days of the recent heatwave, I closed both completely. By the end of the day, the room was very stuffy. As long as cooler temperatures returned in the evening, I could remedy this by opening the windows wide, but then we had a night when the temperature never dropped below 20 C. There was very little breeze, so the air wouldn't shift. After that, I experimented with keeping the windows slightly open during the day, the blinds only partiallly closed and the upper shutters slightly open. This allowed air flow without increasing the sunlight too much.

Shutters which open from left and right and are split into two panels offer great flexibility for managing different sunlight/heat conditions. So I would strongly recommend ordering the Split Louvres, which mean that the upper and lower panels of the louvres can operate indendently.

One other benefit of my new shutters: in the springtime each year, I used to wake early on sunny days, and since I am by nature a night owl, this meant I got overtired. This April, almost every morning was sunny! However, with my new integrated blind & shutters, I could prevent the early waking. A big plus.

Finally! Last summer, I was so desperate to solve the heat problem that I didn't give much thought to the appearance of the shutters. I chose the colour and finish which the Shutter Shop recommended as the most popular. Once installed, however, I realised that the shutters make the whole room look better. I was delighted.

We first used The Shutter Shop around 15 years ago, and they did an excellent job back then, so they were our first choice when we needed shutters again. I’m pleased to say they were just as exceptional this time around.

Not normally one to write reviews but on this occasion it's thoroughly deserved. I needed new a new quite large window replaced in my house, my leasing agent arranged for the window to be fitted but the company didn't take down and replace the shutters so I looked on trusty google and emailed a few companies, most of them either didn't answer or didn't think the job was what they wanted to take on. When I emailed The Shutter Shop I received a reply from Julie McCafferty almost immediately and she guided me through the process and provided a quote based on the information I gave her. Julie was so thorough and advised me of everything and was very upfront and honest to if the shutters could even be replaced. Cutting a long story short the window company were inevitadly delayed and Julie waved her magic wand and re-arranged the dates for me. The fitter even popped in on his own time and then on the date agreed removed the shutters keeping them in prime condition and then a few hours after the new windows were fitted he replaced the shutters. The service was superb from start to finish with fantastic communication throughout. Not one to get excited about having shutters removed and re-fitted but without Julie and The Shutter Shop I would have been in a pickle. Thank you.

Amazing shutters—stunning product and fantastic installation. I have seen many shutters in my lifetime and can honestly say that the quality is brilliant. Darren and Mark did an amazing job, ensuring the shutters were fitted to perfection and leaving the place cleaner than it was when they arrived! The Shutter Shop communicated throughout the entire order process, and the shutters were ready exactly 12 weeks from the order date. I received quotes from five different companies, and I’m so glad I went with The Shutter Shop.

We ordered some blinds for our bay window. It was a choice between The Shutter Shop and John Lewis. From looking at the products the quality seemed very similar so it came down to price and The Shutter Shop were slightly cheaper (initially).

When viewing the product we assumed that the small strips of material that run down the front of the blinds were included as standard. However when the final quote came through the material was an additional cost of c.£30 (which actually made the blinds more expensive than JL). They also added on a feather duster to the quote that we did not ask for.

The speed of delivery was good and the fitting went off with out a hitch and we are pleased with the look of the blinds.

The reason for 3 stars is mainly due to how they handled the financial transaction. When they took final payment, they took an extra amount above the quote. When we phoned to complain they didn't seem to care they had overcharged us.

Whilst they gave me a refund for the extra money taken - it felt like they hand chanced their arm in trying to take it. This left a very bitter taste after what could have been a very pleasant piece of business.
