Still waiting on my order, despite taking £240 immediately. Absolutely awful company, do not use. I’ll be reporting them to Trading Standards and seeking a refund.

Do not part money with this company.
I bought some Pine floor boards, I had to send them back, due to miss leading size information on their website. They won't give me my full refund back which I know I'm entitled too.

When you look through all the negative reviews one of the most common replies/ excuses from SkirtingBoardDirect is to accuse customers of being rude!! Really? If true I wonder why so many SKB customerss are so rude to you……?😳😳

Avoid this company it’s the worst and there’s plenty of other honest and reliable skirting board companies
I have used this company on three occasions but never again. Having had delivery issues on the second occasion coupled with dubious excuses, I spoke with a director, Tony, for a firm delivery date. After his promise, I joked "do you promise this as an ex boy scout" and he replied that his promise came with the guarantee of an ex-RAF officer. Tony's promise failed and when I phoned to check timing I spoke with Mathew (I can see from other reviews what a joy this person appears to be). I told Mathew that I had received a promise from a director and Mathew's response was "Did you get that in writing?" I assume Mathew meant that the word of a director cannot be trusted and a customer must seek written proof. Mathew immediately took an aggressive, sarcastic stance which seems to be his method of customer service and problem solving. There are a number of companies in Birmingham who offer skirting boards. I will use an alternative in future.

One month later still no refund or contact from you, even after email you again.
18 days after placing my order the delivery was finally made but arrived damaged. I have emailed them twice now and tried calling but getting no response - the customer service appears to be appalling and after reading others reviews this doesn’t appear to be an isolated case. This is a company I would avoid using! SBD should you wish to finally respond my order number was 724212.
Trust pilot doesn't give me an option to score a 0 so here we are.
Rude staff at every level, no idea what they're doing. Terrible product, way below par and a waste of money.
Get professionals to do your skirting not whatever this pathetic excuse for a company is supposed to be.
The delivery driver was so aggressive, shouting and screaming his head off upon arrival, it was surreal, never seen this type of behaviour from a company before.

Avoid at all costs! If I could score 0 stars I would! Appalling customer service! Order was over two weeks late! Chased six times and was told each time they would be delivered the next day and never were, until finally got delivered yesterday. Constantly being lied to about delivery and no apology offered! 😡😡

I do not recommend this company and regret ordering from them. Appalling quality, unusable products delivered and terrible service. Sent a complaint via the website and by email, but received no response. Details of complaint as follows:

What is the nature of your complaint?: I have received delivery of the above order but all items are either damaged, defective or do not meet the description as follows:
-MDF pencil round skirting boards - these are not rounded as described, but have square edges.
- Pine window sill 350mm wide - the glued joint has failed and a large crack is visible. The board is warped.
- Pine window sill 270mm wide (3 metre) - glued joint failure and warped as above.
- Pine window sills 270mm wide (2 metre) - several large hollow knots, chips and indentations on the face.
The items were not packaged in suitably waterproof material and have been subject to water damage during transit.
I am very disappointed to receive such an appalling service and poor quality materials and hereby request a full refund.
NEXT STEP WILL BE SMALL CLAIMS COURT IF I DO NOT RECEIVE A REFUND WITHIN THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
Turned up to warehouse with a custom request, the guys were able to turn it around in 30 mins same day. Fantastic service

I placed an order with Skirting Boards Direct and later requested cancellation when delivery promises were not met. Despite sending a clear cancellation request, the company failed to respond and has not issued the refund owed.
This is a breach of basic consumer rights. Communication has been non-existent, and I have had to escalate the matter through my bank to recover my money. A reputable business should not ignore customers or force them into formal disputes just to obtain a refund.
I cannot recommend Skirting Boards Direct based on this experience. Their lack of accountability and failure to comply with consumer law is unacceptable.
Edit- rather hilarious the response. Delivery times were well out of the timeframe- the order arrived three weeks after ordering, by which time I had organised an alternative. I contacted yourselves but you failed to respond, twice! The first time suggesting you will phone me back, which was a blatant lie. Secondly by email, which again you ignored until I followed it up with the cancellation. Thanks for wasting my time. This company is incompetent, clearly run by idiots- do not use.

I am leaving this review as it appears Skirting Boards Direct prioritise defending themselves against negative reviews over responding to customer emails, so I am hoping they will redeem themselves and make things right by doing what should be a very easy task - fulfilling our order.
I am 7 months pregnant and we are trying to get the house finished on time for the new arrival. We need a section of dado rail before the decorators can finish the hallway.
Below is the email sent to Skirting Boards Direct last week detailing our experience to date. Steve responded, claiming “this was sent out a while ago, we had no idea you had not received it”. Steve has clearly had a brain transplant since the several calls with him directly where he gave us various excuses. He then promised in the email that another one would be “sent out today”, but, hey, you guessed it, still no sign of our order almost a week later.
Reading through reviews on Trustpilot and Google, I note I am one of many to have had a dreadful experience with this company.
Steve, Tony, and the rest of the team. If we receive our order this week, I will consider editing this review. If not, I will seek a refund via my bank and report you to trading standards. Do better.

RE: Order 18929, placed 6th October, Ascot dado rail (70mm x 18mm x 3m, £34.82).
Despite several calls and repeated assurances that it was on its way, the item still hasn’t arrived - and we have received conflicting information about whether it’s been cancelled or dispatched.
13 Oct: Told it would arrive with us later that week and I’d get tracking details. It didn’t.
17 Oct: Told it would arrive with us “this afternoon”; no tracking received.
21 Oct: Spoke with Tony, who promised a callback within 10 minutes but didn’t. I called back later to be told it would “definitely arrive tomorrow.”
22 Oct: Spoke with Steve, told it was “with the courier” and would arrive by 6pm. It didn’t.
23 Oct: Called to ask why it hasn’t arrived, told they’d “check the warehouse and call back”, hung up when I asked for a name. No call back received.
24 Oct: Told the order was being cancelled because it didn’t meet a £70 minimum. However, when placing the order, I specifically asked about this and was told you were still happy to accept the order and the order was processed.
24 Oct: Then told the order had in fact been shipped and would arrive the next day, but it never did - and I’ve had no refund.
In spite of the service received to date, we would still like to accept our order. But after weeks of mixed messages, I’m sure you can appreciate why we’ve lost confidence in the updates we’ve been given.
Please confirm clearly:
Is the order being fulfilled or cancelled?
If fulfilled, please provide a tracking number, a courier name, and a genuine date for delivery.
If cancelled, please process a full refund immediately and confirm once done.
I’d appreciate a clear and prompt response so this can be resolved.

Last time ordering from this company. Delivery issues with our first batch but it arrived OK although slightly warped.
Our second batch was delivered on a random day without prior warning, and left in the rain for days (we were on holiday) without a note, or even a response to my email.
This is our 3rd time - we sadly had to deal with them again as needed matching skirting. Order was meant to be delivered within 7-10 days. Over two weeks later and multiple calls to their warehouse, each time being told the skirting would arrive 2 days later, which of course never materialised. "Customer Services" say they will ring back and never do, incredibly rude and unhelpful on the phone, raising his voice to speak over me every time I opened my mouth. Won't be ordering with them again.

The company’s owner, Tony, finally agreed to refund the £55 delivery charge for our order yesterday.
However, just hours later he called my husband to say that after reading my negative review, he had CHANGED HIS MIND and would no longer issue the refund. A "Steve" from their office, possibly the owner's son we also spoke to on the phone then sent me a snarky email, thanking me for my review.
This means the company is effectively punishing customers for leaving honest feedback. That speaks volumes about their attitude toward accountability and customer service, as do all the other 1 star reviews for all to see.
I strongly advise others to think very carefully before ordering, if this is how they treat paying customers, it says everything you need to know.

I stupidly didn’t check reviews beforehand and ordered £280 of stair treads on a 7-10 day delivery.
Arrived a month later and boards are split, scratched, dented, curved, bowed, warped and generally a very rough finish. They refused to give me my money back or collect the garbage they think is ok to send out.
Customer service is non-existent. The ‘manager’ has a shady bullish attitude phone manner and likes to try talk over you and deflect. How a company this bad is still in business is beyond me.
Currently dealing with my bank to recover and trading standards.

The order began months ago. I later realised I’d mixed two profiles, which I corrected immediately by paying £200 for a swap-over so they could send the correct matching ogee architrave. It should have been a simple, straightforward exchange.
Instead, the company sent the same wrong order again and left me chasing them for weeks. I made around 26 phone calls, hearing the same excuses – “we’re checking the warehouse,” “we’ll call you back” – and was left practically begging just to receive what I’d already paid for.
When they finally delivered again, it was still wrong. The owner, Tony, refused to speak to me and passed me to staff who were abrupt and unhelpful. During one call, a member of staff insisted a driver was on the way to collect the boards, despite me saying to leave them in place. The conversation was aggressive and unsettling for everyone on site.
No one has ever compensated me for the wasted time, stress, and genuine low mood caused by dealing with such incompetence. Paying £200 for a simple swap should not mean weeks of chasing and anxiety. I want others to know exactly what to expect: disorganisation, rudeness, and zero accountability.

Matthew calls it an “admin error,” but I made 26 phone calls over several weeks trying to get this resolved — that’s not a small mistake. I’ve since read many similar reviews, including one from a former factory worker who said they were dismissed by text and described the company as totally disorganised. Mine is just one of many poor experiences — the pattern speaks for itself.
When the wrong items were delivered, I was away on holiday and reported it a couple of days later — that brief delay didn’t cause the long wait that followed. What shocked me was when someone from the company said they’d get the driver to come back and forcibly take the materials, even after I’d asked them to leave it. My builders were so alarmed they considered calling the police.
It’s hard to take Matthew’s version seriously when so many others tell the same story. This company badly needs accountability and basic organisation.

Ordered skirting boards on the 3rd September. Still not received by the 22nd for an important job so went elsewhere, despite 7-10 day delivery promise. I called them yesterday to cancel, and they said they would after revealing there was an issue their end with the order. I then get an email 2 hours later saying my order had been dispatched. I called them again to ask why they had sent it, and was told to call back today to speak with Steve the manager. They have now wasted postage costs for the boards to be send and then returned as I won’t be accepting them. I will be contacting my bank to get the monies back later today as I don’t trust this lot to do the right thing. Trust me, avoid this lot unless you want stress in your life. Completely incompetent.
