It is with deep gratitude and reverence that I share about my experience at Soulcentro. I attended an 8 day retreat in February of 2024 following a sincere calling from my soul to further work with the holy Iboga root. I knew the medicine would be challenging, but I did not know that I would be held through one of the longest and toughest weeks of my life with such grace and ease thanks to Chor, Elizabeth and the entire staff at Soulcentro. They were present every step of the way, co-creating what was coming up for me personally with their own expertise, wisdom and weathered experience making the whole week an extraordinary journey into the depths of my consciousness. I shared some difficulties as they were coming up, but many things I did not share outright were intuited by both Chor and Elizabeth which was helpful for someone who finds it hard to open up especially about long-held and painful beliefs. Working with the immeasurably potent medicine Iboga, you will find yourself in extremely vulnerable spaces and I can tell you wholeheartedly that at Soulcentro, it is safe to let go, be seen, be pulled apart, pixelated and unraveled by the medicine; from beginning to end and even after you depart, you will be supported and nurtured through the process. They give you tools to rebuild, working with the jewels uncovered during your stay with them, and with your participation, lovingly guide you closer to the truth of who you are. Base! Base! Base!

I am so thankful for the preparation assistance provided by Elizabeth and all the staff at Soul Centro. I celebrated my 51st birthday by joining friends who had heard about the retreat center. With only a few weeks to prepare myself, I can't imagine feeling so ready and comfortable without all of their help. The space itself is private and cozy, the food and juices were always delicious, and the massages and yoga sessions were amazing. My Iboga experience was physically challenging, but I never felt alone or concerned. This is a place where you can be very vulnerable and not feel judged, where you slow down and feel moments of gratitude. I am looking forward to reading Elizabeth's book and seeing their growth and journey moving forward. I am so happy knowing they are in this world, sharing this medicine, and their grace and harmony with others. If you are called to the medicine, this is your place.

I’ve been to a lot of retreats and sat in a lot of medicine ceremonies where ‘radical transformation’ has been promised.

I had prepared myself before arriving at Soul Centro, but did arrive with a lot of trepidation. This was the big one. The root of Africa (in Costa Rica 🌊🌴)!

As soon as I arrived I was greeted by the sweetest smile and handed a chilled coconut water. I was then shown to my private air conditioned room overlooking the pool, surrounded by hammocks. My suspicions became aroused - I might have to leave some of my hardships behind…

Meeting Elizabeth for the first time is like having a warm blanket wrapped around you. Her maternal and caring energy is abundant and her piecing eyes have a knowing look that shows the wisdom behind them. Chor’s energy is more subtle at first as he sizes you up, but then his wisdom and caring energy is no less abundant and his strength is clear to see. They’re about the safest pair of hands you could wish for and knowing they’re there allows you to go beyond the edge. (Btw, they’re also both hilarious - very important asset in my book).

If that’s not safe enough, there’s also a doctor on site at all times and throughout ceremony who is constantly monitoring your vitals.I won’t say too much about ceremony as that’s for you to discover if you choose to do this for yourself. What I will say is that is unflinchingly authentic and steeped in the traditions of the Bwiti people of Gabon. Honouring his teachers and the faith they have shown in him is something that Chor takes incredibly seriously and I found it an honour to be guided by him.

What I also really loved is that there is space around the ceremonies. There is ample time to rest and reflect, take a walk in nature (the nature! 🦜🐒🐢🦎) and even a day trip to get off site for a day was organised. I was there for 10 days and it felt like a month. It was incredible.

Everyone at the centre is amazing. The food is delicious. The gentle souls that serve you and the comfortable beds that you lie on are there so you can do the work. And I couldn’t recommend anywhere better to do it.

I had the honour of experiencing two Iboga ceremonies with Elizabeth and Chor at Soul Centro retreats in February 2024. The care I received from Elizabeth, Chor, and the incredible staff and volunteers has left me with a profound sense of gratitude. It is incredible that there are people out there who care so deeply about others and are so dedicated to helping people heal. I felt so supported and held throughout the journey. There was never a moment where I felt alone, my needs were anticipated and tended to with love. This support helped me look deep inside myself and face my trauma with strength, patience, and love. Leaving the retreat I felt a deep sense of self love and more hope than I’ve even had in my life that I will be ok. Iboga helped me see how much I already love myself, to take on the work of healing and show up for myself every single day. I am so grateful for this experience and for these wonderful people.

Its been 5 months since i came to Soul Centro and i feel like a totally differnt woman, if i think back - i believe the process started from the moment i chose to go. I am so much more trusting in myself and in life. I think alot of people expect quick fix but for me it slowly all came together over time and continues to show itself for months afterwards.

I spent a lot of time researching places closer to home and my soul always called me back here and i am so glad that i took the time and that i listened. Elizabeth, Chor, Pali, Doug and the whole team really take care of you and hold so much wisdom. I can't recommend it enough.

Thank you Elizabeth, Chor and the entire SoulCentro Team! Words feel inadequate to fully express what my soul feels and wants to say. I was called to the medicine to connect with my ancestors - my brain limited it to my Korean Shaman Ancestors (I've now seen how expansive my lineage is!) This is truly a mind medicine. This spirit scrubs every corner of the mind, releasing the remains of old thought patterns I thought were resolved. The last remains of wounds that other plant medicines and healing modalities left behind, energetically this medicine is like nothing I've experienced and I am eternally grateful. Plus the coconuts and pool brought me back to life when my soul was still floating between worlds. When I was called by the spirit of iboga, I knew that I would have to find the right people and place to host and hold my experience. As I was seeking to connect to and have a deeper understanding of my African ancestors, I knew that I wanted to find someone who honored the Bwiti tradition. I couldn't have found better hosts than Chor and Elizabeth. Their devotion to the tradition was supremely evident from the first to the last moments I spent at SoulCentro. My search was a tender one as I did not know much about my ancestry and what was served up at SoulCentro by everyone I encountered was kindness, grace, service and TRUTH. I will always be grateful to Chor, Elizabeth and everyone else at SoulCentro. They are brilliant stars that lit the way toward the next steps in my journey. Bassé!

It is clear that the staff and owners of SoulCentro are deeply devoted to spiritual, physical, emotional, and psychological healing and personal growth for all those who attend their retreats. The delicate care and attention to detail for all things created - from the meals made with pure love to the intentionality put into their traditional healing experiences, were exceptional. Most memorable is they helped you feel like family. I felt very at home and cared for, which helped me get the most from my experience.

I am incredibly grateful and blessed to have experienced Iboga with the team at Soul Centro. It was a transformative journey that helped me heal in ways I never thought possible. There are a handful of retreat centers in Costa Rica that offer Iboga, but what sets Soul Centro apart is their dedication to honoring the tradition and legacy of serving Iboga from the Bwiti tribe in Gabon, and the authenticity of the kindness, compassion, and care from the Soul Centro team. Just a follow up review for those curious about integration and the staying power of their experience at soulcentro. First of all, I want to highlight that Elizabeth goes out of her way to develop a personal, supportive relationship after the retreat that is all to the benefit of the participant. She checks in regularly (with lovely, witty, funny messages), remembers intimate details of each of our specific experiences that go well beyond any realistic expectation, and offers herself as a resource in whatever way that will enrich and deepen your experience with the medicine. Elizabeth and Chor are amazing guides and healers, with so much expertise, empathy and support that it’s difficult to explain without experiencing it directly. You feel a part of their family in every way. The healing and integration of the insights you receive during the ceremonies continues for well over a year after the experience. I now feel that it’s my mission to heal my ancestral trauma, and I have not had a more direct or positive experience than with the loving team at soulcentro! Thank you!

What made my experience great was how comfortable the Elisabeth, Chor and team of Soul Centro made me feel. Being that I was new to working with the medicine, I was a bit nervous about the unknown. Well, all of those nerves turned to excitement as we began the process. From the moment I stepped on the property, I felt a sense of community. As for my overall experience: life changing, beautiful, radical, eye opening, grounding, lifting, insightful...did I say beautiful already?
