The whole process from the beginning has been easy to circumnavigate. All the advisors are very kind helpful, and non judgmental. Exactly what’s needed at what is a very uncomfortable and difficult time.

When I first contacted step change I'd just started a new job after my previous employer went in to administration with no warning and no wages paid either. I was using my credit cards to pay minimum monthly payments on my catalogue, credit cards, store cards, overdraft. I was not sleeping worrying about my spiralling debts. Step change sorted a payment plan out contacted my creditors help me take control of my debts and I was finally able to sleep again at night. Every year a did a review of my plan and as I got more hours at work could pay more off and reduce my debts and the years left to pay them. I've finally finished and am debt free the first time in over 20 years (was robbing Peter to pay Paul before step change got involved) I've no credit or store cards just a small overdraft for emergency finally leant to control my spending and if I want something I save for it. So grateful to step change totally changed my life fir the better.

About to make my last payment, having start in May 2023. Over 9.5k paid off, the knowledge that I am nearly done is a huge relief. Really appreciate Stepchange for all their help, including times when I’ve been struggling. Id racked up quite a bit of debt when I heard about Stepchange from a friend of mine. Best phonecall I had made in a very very long time. Debt can be a lonely place as you are embarrassed to talk to anyone about it. After reaching out to StepChange charity I felt like someone cared about my situation. They recommend a DMP Debt Management Plan. That was made so easy to understand and with a manageable monthly amount and regular statements the load was lifted.
I can’t recommend them more, it’s been a refreshing experience thank you Step Change 5* from me.

Stepchange were fantastic in supporting me to finally pay my debts. I was drowning in missed payments but felt I could breath again once my plan was set up. My plan was reviewed yearly and helped to identify if I could pay more or less depending on my current income and outgoings. Everyone I spoke to was also very kind.

StepChange have been amazing so far with helping me to deal with my debts. They have been very helpful anytime I had a problem and are always ever so friendly. You're never felt like you're being judged, or criticised. They genuinely want to help you.

The only problem I have is wishing I had contacted and got help with them sooner instead of leaving it. I was too scared and overwhelmed to even think of looking for help.

Great help at a difficult time when I had questions they answers me in detail

Excellent service, very polite and sympathetic to all situations. Well trained and very well informed in all areas. Affordable plan tailored for each situation,
importantly it is an affordable plan, helped me sort my finances to a manageable level.

I was drowning in my debts and thinking how to find a way out of the situation. I reached out for advice from a friend who recommended StepChange instead of filing for bankruptcy. Now i'm almost at the end of the nighmare. StepChange has being extremly helpful and reviewing my debts every year.

I kept looking at Step Change for couple of years, reading the website, giving up as I didn’t think it would make any difference. But desperation made me sign up. Three and half years later, I am one month from being debt free, for the first time in my adult life. If, like me, you are not keen on phone calls, you can set up everything online and you can keep in touch with emails. It is so good to see the balance reduce. You can set your budget and change it if your circumstances change.
Follow StepChange advice and keep in touch with creditors as that was the interest will stop sooner. I was not good at that, but any time I emailed (and called twice), the creditors were understanding and had nothing to say knowing I was on a plan with StepChange.
From next month, I can start living my life, learn to drive, buy a new sofa (been sitting on a broken sofa for three years) and maybe start saving for the first time in my life.

A couple of years ago I couldn't see a way out of my debt but StepChange helped me find the light at the end of the tunnel. I am now weeks away from being debt free and feel so much lighter and in a position I couldn't imagine myself in and that is thanks to StepChange.
