We’re a handful of story weavers who slip letters into mailboxes, hoping to spark a heartbeat or two. Twice a month, small mysteries find their way to kindred souls — those who read under blankets by lamplight, who smile at secrets never meant for everyone. Not for the hurried, the hardened, or the cynics. We’re for the wonderers. If that’s you, well… we suspect you already understand.

Poor value for the cost compared to competitors

I love the concept and will gladly pay the $136 price of this subscription for quality writing. However, while there is a letter style salutation and sign off, it is otherwise not in letter format. It is a short story broken up into 24 installments with the intention of capitalizing on an idea that others do better. The quotation of conversations is especially offputting when I’m supposed to be reading personal correspondence. Two installments in, the supporting inserts included with the letters have included a sticker and paper bookmark with letter 1 and a postcard in letter 2. I sincerely hope that the writing style is revised for future customers because it has a lot of potential.

Edit: Storyville customer service, per your response, I responded to Trustpilot with my full legal name and email used for the subscription so I trust that will be sufficient for you to cease attempts to remove my review with my opinion. I’m also happy to provide photos of the contents of each of the letters I received along with each envelope. You’re correct, my confirmation email from you indicates the actual price paid was $136.89, not $136 even. Please let me know if you’d like me to forward that back to you along with a screenshot of my credit card receipt. I’m under no obligation to contact customer service prior to writing a review of my experience as a paying customer. Frankly, I thought you might find it preferable for me to submit a Trustpilot review once rather than commenting under your social media ads that continue to pop up on my feed. I had hoped that the Trustpilot feedback might result in improvement to future letters leading me to want to buy the newest letter subscription but your response insinuating a bad faith review is a disappointment. I find it poorly formatted if supposed to be correspondence-regardless of your explanation I still don’t think quoted conversations typically belong in personal letters, but as I said, I really like the premise and would love it at short story prices.

Hi Mimi,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re committed to providing a meaningful, high-quality storytelling experience, and we welcome all perspectives that help us grow and improve.

That said, we were unable to locate a subscription under your name or email, and several details in your review — including the quoted price, repeated inserts, and total page count — are factually inaccurate and don’t reflect what our subscribers receive. We also noticed that no one from our team was contacted directly, despite our Satisfaction Guarantee and willingness to address any concerns quickly and personally.

To clarify: Storyville Letters offers 24-part fictional stories told through character-written letters. Our letters are carefully crafted to make the reader part of the story — blending the intimacy of personal correspondence with the immersive pull of a serialized narrative. Quotation marks are used intentionally and grammatically to denote dialogue within the letters, enriching both emotional clarity and character voice.

If you did subscribe under a different name or email, we’d genuinely appreciate the chance to look into it and make things right. You’re welcome to reach out to us directly at curator@storyvilleletters.com.

If not, and this review was submitted in error or bad faith, please be aware that we reserve the right to report it through Trustpilot’s content integrity process.

We’re grateful to the thousands of readers who embrace the magic of this experience, and we remain dedicated to treating every subscriber with care, creativity, and respect.

Warmly,
Haley

Edit:

Hi Rachel Hoback O'Shia,

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. As it’s so important to us that every reader feels truly delighted by their experience, we’ve canceled your subscription and issued a full refund under our 100% Happiness Guarantee.

It’s certainly uncommon to see someone so dissatisfied yet not reach out directly — especially given our clear policy — and when our records confirm only two letters have been sent. Just to clarify, Storyville Letters is intentionally a fictional storytelling subscription, not personal correspondence, as stated throughout our site.

Either way, we’ve ensured you’re not obligated to continue. Wishing you the best in your future literary pursuits.

Warmly,
Haley

I really hated these letters

I really hated these letters. And I hate the fact that I cannot cancel this. It says you can cancel up to the first 60 days if you are dissatisfied. I emailed them, as specified, requesting a cancellation. But they gave me some BS about it being a special offer. They also said they would charge me for the whole year whether or not I got the letters. This is a SCAM! Don't fall for it. All I can say is I had better receive the merchandise I paid for.

Hello Eteliel Turokanion,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're truly sorry to hear that you're dissatisfied with the terms of your purchase. We strive to be transparent with our customers, which is why the commitment terms were clearly outlined both on the product description you selected and during the checkout process. Additionally, you confirmed your understanding by checking a box agreeing to these terms before being able to complete your purchase.

We understand that there may have been some confusion regarding the cancellation policy. To clarify, our policy does not state that you can cancel within 60 days if you are dissatisfied with the Annual -12-month commitment plan, which is what you signed up for. The promotional price and discounts we offer come with specific terms, which were agreed upon at the time of your purchase.

We also noticed that you requested a cancellation before receiving the second letter. It can be difficult to fully assess the story with just the introduction, and many of our customers find that the narrative becomes more engaging as it unfolds. We hope you'll give it a chance.

That being said, we never want you to feel stuck or unhappy with your decision. Our goal is to ensure that you receive the merchandise you've paid for and that it meets your expectations. If there’s anything further we can do to assist or clarify; please don’t hesitate to contact us directly at concierge@storyvilleletters.com. We're here to help and are committed to ensuring your experience ends on a positive note.

Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to resolve this for you as soon as possible.

Best regards,
Storyville Letters
