Manufacturer Quality Control?
This is probably an unusual case.
The Suntec gear pump pictured was fitted to a Heritage range cooker bought from Heating South West, brand new, on 4 Oct 2022, for £9,000.00.
9 months on and the heating side of the range had stopped working.
The Service engineer agreed to the unusual ' tinkling noise' coming from the range on start up, so he dismantled the gear pump from the NEW-WAY burner.
We could then hear the tinkling while turning the drive shaft by hand.
He stripped the gear pump down and, to his amazement, could see that there was no locating pin in the end of the drive shaft; how it drove the gears is a mystery but could only have been by friction, once that had gone it left us with just a tinkle.
It couldn't have shaken loose, there's nowhere for it to go, so it couldn't have been there in the first place.
He replaced the Suntec pump with a Danfos equivalent pump, and, to date, all OK.
