Loved SH Diana

This was truly an exceptional cruise. The ship is small, elegant and luxurious. With only 135 guests, getting on and off was a breeze. Rooms are good size, with a sofa seating area and lots of closet space. Bathrooms are spacious with a great shower.
Each night there was a lecture on upcoming tours and about the area. We enjoyed these in the lounge area and loved that we could review it on our tv. In addition, the guest speaker, Dr. Jeffrey Rouse, was terrific. He presented 3 lectures on brain health and longevity- plus he was available and friendly throughout the cruise for questions.
The spa area is great: hot tub, sauna and steam room with changing rooms and showers. Massages and hair salon are a treat, for a reasonable fee.
A wonderful amenity was the complimentary guest laundry room. 3 washers, (detergent dispenses automatically) dryers and irons! We did laundry several days - only the day before departure did we have to wait about an hour for a machine. But no worries- just leave your clothes there in a basket, go have a drink and come back! Elevators were extremely efficient.
Food was excellent, hot and cold buffet style for breakfast and lunch in the dining room. For lunch another option is the pool bar and grill area to eat outside with heaters, when needed. No reservation or assigned time or seat necessary for dinner. The vibe is casual, so you don't have "dress up" for dinner. The menu was different each night, and always delicious. Waiters were so good at making sure you enjoyed your dinner- and always filling you wine glass:) The dining room is lovely.
The best part was the staff- so attentive and helpful. Special shout out to Jose, Lester, Alan and Jarunda. They were always present with whatever we needed. Room service for breakfast was always right on time. We did learn the eggs were not hot- so dining room would be better for a hot breakfast, but we just switched to cereal. The breakfast rolls and muffins were very good, along with fresh orange juice and a hot pot of coffee. When we forgot the night before, a call still had the breakfast there within 30 minutes.
The bartenders in the lounge were excellent. they were knowledgeable and terrific at creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere!
The ships photographer took pictures on the tours and they are available for us to download. What a pleasant surprise!
We are already looking for our next SH cruise!

Raja Ampat

I have just returned from a 10 night expedition cruise on SH Minerva - Raja Ampat, Papua. This was their inaugural cruise into this region. Ship is new and well appointed. Cabins are again well appointed with plenty of storage. Expedition Team were both knowledgeable and passionate about their areas of expertise and worked very hard to create good experiences. The food was outstanding (high praise from me as I am often very critical). All round, an excellent experience and I have no hesitation in recommending a cruise with SH.

Phenomenal life experience


Overview
We have just completed a 20-night Antarctica and transatlantic expedition, sailing from Ushuaia to Cape Town. Our aim was to follow in Shackleton’s footsteps and immerse ourselves in the natural world—and the experience exceeded expectations. It was an extraordinary voyage from start to finish. So much so, we have booked the Arctic for next year with Swan Hellenic.

Expedition
The expedition experience was exceptional. The team—comprising specialists across multiple disciplines including ornithology, geology, marine biology, whale research, and guided hiking were outstanding. They ensured we spent as much time as possible off the ship and fully engaged with the environment.

We had remarkable wildlife encounters, getting close to whales and penguins, and witnessed breathtaking landscapes throughout. Landings at iconic locations such as Point Wild, Grytviken, and Tristan da Cunha were real highlights. On sea days, the team delivered high-quality lectures, briefings, debriefs, and engaging onboard programming that added significant depth to the journey.

Service
The service throughout was superb. From Jeffrey at reception, to José who looked after our cabin, and the entire bar and restaurant teams, the staff were consistently attentive, friendly and considerate. They quickly learned our preferences and took genuine care in ensuring we were comfortable and well looked after for the duration of the trip.

Facilities
The wellness facilities are compact but well designed, including a small gym, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. We made regular use of these throughout the voyage and found them to be a valuable addition, particularly after excursions. We also each had a massage, which was excellent.

Food
For context, we are both keen cooks and regularly dine at high-quality restaurants, so our expectations are relatively high. Of approximately 60 meals during the trip, only 16 were à la carte. These were very good.

The buffet offering, however, was more variable—ranging from acceptable to good. While the food was not a standout feature of the trip, it was perfectly adequate. On a positive note, meals were complemented by a strong and well-curated wine selection.

The Ship
The ship itself is modern, well-equipped, and felt very safe throughout, even in rough seas where the stabilisers performed effectively. Our cabin was excellent: a very comfortable bed, a well-designed seating area, a TV with a wide selection of programming, and a high-quality bathroom with good amenities. Importantly, even after 20 days onboard, we never felt confined or claustrophobic. The ships crew were also first rate, and we felt safe at all times despite operating in extreme environments

Amazing Antarctic Experience

Just got home from an expedition cruise to Antarctica on the SH Diana. This was one of the most amazing things we have ever done.
We were so lucky that we had great weather and saw the most wonderful wildlife and scenery.
The Swan Hellenic expedition team and the guest speakers had an extensive range of knowledge and expertise. That coupled with the SH Diana's staff who were exceptional; made this cruise extra special.
My only small criticism was the free WiFi, which wasn't worth having (couldn't even receive simple emails) and I wasn't prepared to pay $25/day just to do that.
Just downloaded the photos taken by the companies professional photographer and waiting for the video he made of the cruise to be uploaded to the portal.
Already been in touch with our travel agent to book another Swan Hellenic cruise for next year.

Our honest shortened review

What They Got Right
Wildlife experiences exceeded expectations, with incredible close encounters on land and via zodiac. Cabins were thoughtfully designed with excellent storage, making them comfortable and practical. The hospitality team stood out as warm, attentive, and engaging. Food was consistently good, but not memorable. Expedition gear—especially jackets and day bags—was well designed, and wildlife-focused speakers added valuable context.

Where It Fell Short
Organization and communication were inconsistent from the beginning, with issues around bookings, travel documents, and unclear pre-cruise processes. Cleanliness of the cabins upon arrival fell below expectations, and some promised amenities (like correct gear sizing) weren’t delivered. Onboard logistics—such as laundry and activity coordination—felt disorganized, and staff often couldn’t clearly explain services or inclusions.

Another drawback was crew professionalism. There were instances of poor communication, condescension, and lack of engagement, along with operational disorganization during activities and briefings. Some staff provided inaccurate information or behaved inappropriately, which detracted from the experience.

Final Thoughts
The destinations and wildlife made for an unforgettable adventure. However, while the expedition side is strong, the overall experience falls short of true luxury due to gaps in service, organization, and professionalism.

I am willing to provide more details as this is my shortened version. However, the form limits my ability to do so.

A Flawless Antarctic Expedition with SH Vega

This was a perfect Antarctic journey. The entire crew of SH Vega provided my wife and me with an exceptional travel experience. From the expert coordination of the expedition team and the meticulous housekeeping to the exquisite onboard dining and the dedication of every crew member—including the seamless ground handling—we received top-tier service in every aspect.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff. A perfect journey requires the collective effort of everyone involved, and this team truly achieved it.

If I may offer one small suggestion: on the cabin TV information system, in addition to introducing the Captain, senior officers, and expedition team, it would be wonderful to include profiles of the restaurant service staff. We interact with these hard-working individuals every day, but sometimes it’s difficult to catch their names or read their name tags. Having their introductions on the TV would allow us to better recognize and appreciate their hard work.

An unforgettable journey (with one small detail to improve)

My experience was, without exaggeration, incredible from start to finish. The ship, the service, the crew, the land expeditions… everything was extremely well executed, with a level of care that truly stands out.

You can clearly see the attention to detail at every stage of the journey: from the logistics of the landings to the support provided by the team throughout the trip. It’s the kind of experience that exceeds expectations.

Precisely because of that, I’d like to point out one area that, in my opinion, could elevate the experience even further: the photo and video coverage.

I completely understand the challenge: there are many passengers and a very intense schedule, so this isn’t about expecting something personalized. However, I did feel there could be a bit more balance in how passengers are represented in the content.

There seems to be a significant disparity, some guests appear multiple times across the materials, while others don’t appear at all, not even in the background.

In practice, either there should be a more even distribution among guests, or it might make more sense to focus primarily on landscapes and general moments. As it is today, it ends up feeling somewhat uneven.

It’s a small detail within an exceptional experience, but precisely because everything else is held to such a high standard, it stands out.

Overall, I would absolutely go again and highly recommend it.

We were so happy for the overall experience, from the accommodation, food & beverage to the expedition, all are well managed.

We were so happy for the experience on the SH Diana. We felt at home as so warmly welcome by the crew and felt we were in good and capable hand during whole trip.

We especially want to thank you Hendy, our Cabin Steward who i met from the first day. He was so nice and attentive to our need. Whenever we met him, he gave us a warm greeting and big smile even i saw he was sweating and busy for mending rooms.

We also want to thank you the F&B crew especially, Arnold, Isreal and the big tall handsome guy who always worn uniform with white shirt (sorry that i couldn't recall him name) They always gave us warm welcome and well attentive to our request. We always had good meals with their cheerful smiles.

Mark and his expedition team was super! They did every possible step to make sure we were safe during our landing and tried their best to show us the marvelous marine life in Antarctica. I can feel the expedition was so well and carefully organized.

An Exceptional Antarctic Experience

Our Antartica experience was exceptional in all aspects. Every staff member were engaging, friendly and supportive. From the time we boarded we were greeted by Roselle and her front house hospitality staff. They welcomed us with professionalism and good humour. They were responsive and reflected the 5 star quality food and beverages provided by the master chef and his galley staff.
We were in the safe hands of experienced and knowledgeable Expeditionary Staff, led by Richard, Gustav and Zane.
Our on Antartica experiences was enhanced by the weather and smooth navigation of the Drake Passage Captain Lobou and his crew.
Every aspect of our maiden Swan Hellenic cruise exceeded our expectations.
We are now rusted on Swan Hellenic passengers. We would highly recommend this experience.
