Shocking attitude towards pets and owners
Absolutely appalled about at what has just taken place at this vets!
Have taken cat in my arms (2 doors down from surgery) to have immunisation. The vet came outside and said I should have a cat carrier. I explained that I was only a couple of doors down and that the cat gets very upset and anxious in carriers.
The vet then asked if I was having the package, I started to respond to her but only got a few words in when suddenly she snatched the cat from my arms and stormed into the surgery with him whilst I was still talkin. She then stormed back outside shouting at me that in future I MUST bring him in a cat carrier. I told her to go back into the surgery and get my cat as her manner meant that I wouldn't be using the surgery, she then started to shout again how the cat could run away at any time. I told her that I knew my cat well enough to know he wouldn't do that. She continued to shout that he was about to leap out of her arms and shouting 'who would you start to blame then?' I responded that if she hadn't snatched him from me so viciously he wouldn't have been scared to want to get away. I told her to return the cat to me immediately and that I would go elsewhere. She retrieved the cat and simply slammed the door in my face.
Absolutely shocked and appalled at this women's behavior towards me and the awful way she handled my animal.
Thank god I learnt they were like this before I let them do anything more invasive than an injection.
Will defiantly not be returning and will be ensuring I deter anyone from taking their precious pets here.
The worst vet in the country
I first took my pet to this "vet" in April. The issue was diagnosed as gum disease and a tooth extraction was booked in. I was told this would cost "no more than £450-£500". This is the only time price was discussed before treatment (it will become obvious why!).
They extracted 4 teeth. Unfortunately the problems only got worse and he was booked in for a x-ray and then more extractions (on many, many teeth that were missed first time!). Why an X-ray was not carried out first occasion they have not yet provided me with an answer. I was also not told this, but there was, in addition to extra teeth that needed removing and would likely have been identified with x-ray, there were roots left as well as reabsorption, that I only discovered after requesting his notes. Why wouldn't they tell me this I wonder?
The "vet" called me after the x-ray and asked for permission to remove all teeth behind the canines to prevent the need for an additional operation as he is an elderly cat (17). To which I agreed. No mentioned of money was made until I had already collected him and was sat in the car. I had assumed as they had no fixed the issue originally and no mention of payment whatsoever I was not being charged as, it would appear this operation would have been unnecessary if certain things were done differently first time round.
Quite predictably, his problems still worsened. I took him to a different vet (who charge 1/4 of the price of Tameside's), who within seconds spotted inflammation and stuff in his gums behind the canines (stuff which shouldn't be there according to the notes). He is now booked in for a third operation (at the age of almost 18) at this new vets, who lets face it couldn't be any less competent.
I don't know what the purpose of this place for is other than to generate money but I don't think it's to care for animals, my pet certainly received nothing resembling care there.
I have raised a formal complaint about this disgrace of practise. I fully expect them to be just as useless in addressing this as they are at veterinary care so I guess I'll be seeing in at small claims court unless you issue me with a FULL apology and refund me every single penny I've given to this sickening business.
I hope for animal welfare sake this place is out of business soon.
Edit: As if I hadn’t been treated badly enough by this shambles of a “vets”, the clinical director, Dr Currid took it upon himself to call me up and throw around childish language such as “you’re a big man”. I hung up on him twice, yet he continued to call and carry on with his disgusting behaviour. His behaviour has not been put explained to me yet. I imagine because there is no charitable explanation for his outbursts.
