New York MUN Trip 2025
I attended the trip to New York with the Global Youth Congress from March 3rd to 10th. It was a fantastic experience, and totally worth the money. We did 4 days of exploring all around Manhattan, getting to know iconic attractions, and still having some time to go shopping! We visited some places like the UN building, Liberty Island, the MET and many others! The itinerary was spread evenly throughout the 4 days, and we got to see many interesting things every single day, still arriving back at the hotel at a sensible hour to get some rest.
After that, the other 4 days were dedicated to the MUN experience. We attended the first session of NHSMUN; taking place in the Times Square Hilton. Starting 4 weeks before the trip, we started receiving the Zero-to-Diplomat course, included with the trip. It's a very complete overview of basic skills that are not only useful for MUN but for any other experience in life, including persuasion, communication, leadership, and others. It consists of reading, interactive activities, team bonding and weekly sessions that make the course never boring and really pleasant to learn from. But, backtracking, we started the preparation for the MUN way back in December, when we met up to get to know the rest of our team and discuss the basics of what our delegation would be and the committees offered to us. We got to choose wether we were open to working with a co-delegate and in which committees we were interested in debating, arguing our reasons and getting a say in our allocation. From the moment we got our positions to the final of the debate sessions, we got a complete net of support from the staff, complete with resources, constant communication and any other help we needed. All of the staff were extremely nice and open with the team, and in both the preparation and the trip, they were people we were sure we could go to with any doubt or issue.
I would recommend this experience for sure, and I'd repeat it any day! The group I got to go with was fantastic, and we had a blast in New York! It's something I will never forget, and that left me with a lot of new experiences and skills that I'm sure are going to be more than useful in the future.
