Hire people with social care or law experience

Due to misinformed advice from 2 threshold agents I’ve been fighting an eviction in a very abusive household for over 6 months. They did not stick to any script that allows transparency by quoting or giving links to statute.

The first advisor went radio silent, never gave me info in time sensitivity for submitting a counter claim. Advidpsed not to open a counter claim until the landlords case arose and I was given notice. She did not give me a formal letter of non compliance and she did not answer emails or calls. Her linked in profile reads like a drunk. No experience in law, social care or housing.

The second advisor informed me by statute I would not be accountable for rent of the entire property once the abusive housemates moved out. Which I got no notice of. Less than a week later I was informed by the same agent I was. I was so stressed by the situation in which I had to involve the gaurds on several occasions I stupidly gave him the consent to act form. I expected professionalism, not as a social air but in conduct. I expected them to mediate in ways that could be recorded for building a counter claim or promote clarity and safety to me as they are a tenancy advocacy agency.

The agent seemed to broker a deal rather than mediate in favour to the landlord . Didn’t record anything and after months of living in an abusive situation, ringing every homeless agency, posting ads online and newspapers going to viewings his response was to find digs or move to another area. I moved back to my area due to lack of housing and work.

It was literally the first house I found after a 5 month search. He has also made me at risk of financial instability as well as homelessness due to his misinformation, shite conduct and incompetence . When the liability to pay for a three bedroom house while the landlord refuses to allow new tenants I posted him articles and research from the 1986 on mesne law create clarity, informed decisions and critical thinking. His response was egotistical and assumptive of his knowledge demeaning to je and void if reasonable doubt that anyone with an iota if critical thinking skills would have.

When asking to talk to his line lead he stated that it would hold up my case further if I wanted to do so. My forms requesting aid for support in building a case have not been posted in 3 months. When I finally looked into the agent he had been in employment for two months. With no orevious experience in law, social care or housing. So he’s on probation.

Now I have to move my things to storage asap, and argue my case myself. Statute shows no evidence of any claims they made but I have to go to what they said. After 7 months of looking I finally found a friends couch.

Threshold and my experience are a huge example if what I found to be the Irish working force. The title means more than the employees experience. Ego trumps critical thinking. Absolutely avoid thus agency it if you do use them research your advisor. Hire people with experience, can do clerical, people who actually impartially mediate or actually agree with your ethos, Not people in suits that side with landlords and right out refuse to update their awareness of statute. Underfunded and low work force is not a pun excuse to put people financially at risk when already facing homelessness.

Zero understanding and help

Zero understanding and help. Employee was late from lunch break. Threshold receives funding from the Irish government, same as the Cork City Council. They are not impartial.

No value add for renters advocacy

No value add for renters advocacy, in my opinion. AI will do a better job in helping you to navigate the clarity you need on how to approach a housing issue. Called so many times. Its the same monotone unhelpful voice.. its a joke.

If there was an option for zero stars…

If there was an option for zero stars I'd have pressed that . Was met with zero compassion , understanding or empathy with the lady that contacted me when I requested their advice on an urgent matter . Awfully bad form for this type of organisation , appalling . Contacted again by email hoping to get in touch with someone more suited to the job , zero reply , emailed twice as it is a matter of urgency , very appalled by all of it .

Threshold the people that care

Without a doubt in my mind the most professional people I have ever contacted. a depth of knowledge and genuinely caring operatives that will go that extra mile to help you against a system driven by international vulture funds and the hyper inflated Govt driven speculator and development that has destroyed Ireland now for decades.
Threshold will work with you and more so work for you. they will explain the issues clearly without the double talk and veiled parlance used in legislative text.
in a Nutshell they are the people that actually care in Ireland about the housing crisis, the homeless and the disenfranchised.
Fantastic people to deal with and a breath of fresh air to be honest.
