Let's save the planet, let's plant trees!!!

Etwas verwirrend...

A great shop with a cool style and a great mission

A great site where you can plant trees when you order a bracelet / T-Shirt / Water bottle and a few more cool products. The products got a very unique, but good looking style and they show that you care about the environment.

If you have troubles with your shipment or subscription you can always write an email and will recieve an answer within a few days. The Treecelet Team has always been very nice and fast in addressing my needs.

All in all a very good project that everybody can support (the cheapest subscription is for 3 € were you can plant 3 trees per month).

Very disappointed - Gift

I was given my treecelet bracelet (in gift box) as a present. I appreciate that this is meant to be for a very good cause, but the bracelet itself is the saddest thing I have ever seen ( I was flabbergasted to see how much they cost). I would rather have just donated money and saved all the packaging etc.

Treecelet has a lot more work to do to…

Treecelet has a lot more work to do to become convincing. It's not clear whether it actually does any tree planting/reforestation itself, or whether it simply makes donations to others who do the work. Two are highlighted on Treecelet's website and communications. One of these, Eden Reforestation, mentions Treecelet on its website, but I couldn't find Treecelet on the other, One Tree Planted. Both these organisations are mentioned as "partner organisations" on Treecelet's website and its communications. Treecelet also says it makes donations to educational videos (as part of the 42.5% of its revenue which it says goes towards tree planting and reforestation etc), but it doesn't say what these videos are. They could simply be YouTube clips. Treecelet advertises some attractive but rather expensive products on its website. So I opted for a simple donation to tree planting in Madagascar, a mangrove planting project, but without having any further information about the project and who was running it, which should have made me pause. However I went ahead as my wife had expressed an interest in Treecelet, and I thought a bracelet would make a stocking-filler present for her for Christmas. I therefore ordered the Madagascar bracelet with the donation. The postage seemed expensive, but I opted for the three day delivery to get it in time for Christmas. I received two emails acknowledging the order promptly, which was a plus point. The delivery took six days, not three (I hadn't realised it came from Slovenia!). The bracelet itself looks cheap and poorly made - not something I could possibly pass off as a stocking filler. Its production is said to be carbon neutral, and it is said to have been "Made By "People With Disabilities". A small generic card "certificate" accompanied it. I could print off a "certificate" from the order response email which mentioned that "trees" had been planted in Madagascar. I think my donation had been for three trees. Confusingly, the One Tree Planted logo on the certificate, suggests only one tree had been planted. So as far as I can see, Treecelet largely exists to sell products from its website to make donations to Eden Reforesting and maybe One Tree Planted, and presumably provide an income for its founder. Its founder has pictures of himself in at least one location where trees are planted, but it's not clear if this is really the work of Treecelet or one of the other organisations mentioned. It would perhaps have been more cost effective for me to make a donation direct to Eden Reforesting or One Tree Planted rather than via Treecelet, but then I wouldn't have received the bracelet for my wife, which I don't feel able to give her as a present. If this review seems a little unfair, I've tried not to be, as I'm only going on what I have received from Treecelet, and what little I can discover on its website or facebook page. I haven't watched the YouTube clips which I now see can be found on YouTube. My conclusion is that this project has yet to prove itself as a convincing player in the world of contributing to the environment and its ecological survival.
