I booked an abdominal and pelvis CT scan online with Scan.com, and initially my experience was positive. I received a call from a consultant on the same day, which was reassuring. Unfortunately, this is where the positive experience ended.
I was told to wait for a call to arrange an appointment with Taunton Hospital, but after almost a week of hearing nothing, I decided to contact the hospital myself. I had little confidence that anyone would follow up otherwise.
I had my scan on 27/03, but then had to wait until 17/04—three weeks—for my results. During this time, I emailed and called both Scan.com and the hospital multiple times, but only received generic responses such as “we’re not sure why there is a delay” and that I simply had to wait.
I paid £720 for this private CT scan, which is a significant amount of money for me. I chose to go private because I was in pain and expected a quicker process to help address my health concerns as soon as possible. In hindsight, I feel I would have been better off using the NHS scan that my GP had already arranged.
When the report finally arrived, it was very basic and lacked sufficient detail. The follow-up call with the specialist was also disappointing—there was no real consultation, just a reading of the report.
Overall, I feel very frustrated and let down by the entire experience.
The staff at Modality who looked after me so well. Reassured me and were kind and patient.
All people I dealt with was very knowledgeable which gave me confidence. Plus mri scan and feed back all in four days. Only problem is I’m 77 and not sure how to download the results but that is not your problem

Paid £510 for a lumbar and gynae scan. Received a report that my dog could have written, incredibly basic and full of inaccuracies. I am being treated at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital so I am fully aware of issues with my spine that were not recorded. My gynae report told me that there were no abnormalities to my ovaries or fallopian tubes, despite having one side removed twenty years ago. This inaccurate reporting is so dangerous and counter productive. I asked for a proper report written by a qualified radiologist after my consultant laughed at their report. Scan Com have taken six weeks to review to advise me their report is satisfactory. I have highlighted their inaccurate statements and it's once again off for review. I will be taking this matter further as not only have I wasted £510 I have received an inaccurate dangerous report. Please do not use this company, they are dangerous charlatans

I booked a chest x-ray in Birmingham a week ago. Got a phone call straight away to discuss the reason for my request and was told that it was all fine and will get a phone call from someone to confirm my booking. I booked an annual leave day for it and was planning to attend my scan today. Got a miss call and then an email from someone called Charlotte at 4.15pm yesterday to let me know that the hospital doesn’t offer the scan I requested. I called back within a few minutes to speak with her and was told that I’ll get a call back. Phoned them again in 20 mins, was asked to repeat all my details and again was told that I’ll get a call from them. Emailed them last night to raise concerns about the last minute cancellation and the lack of callback. They responded without even addressing me by my name. Appalling standards, a complete lack of customer service and dreadful attitude towards customers. I raised a complaint but it’s needless to say that I don’t have very high hopes.

This was my first time using Scan.com, and unfortunately it will be my last. I wouldn’t recommend this service.
Despite paying over £400 upfront, I had to chase the hospital myself just to secure an appointment, which ended up being scheduled two weeks later. Since then, I’ve been waiting nearly three weeks for my results.
Customer service has been extremely frustrating. I’ve contacted them multiple times, each time having to repeat all of my details, only to be told that a message would be passed on and someone would call me back the same day. That call never comes.
As the delay has gone on, it’s become increasingly worrying not knowing what my results are or why there’s such a hold-up. The lack of communication only adds to that concern.
I was also given a support contact number that only accepts text messages, which makes it even harder to get timely assistance.
Overall, the lack of communication and delays have made this a very disappointing experience. If you’re considering booking a scan through this service, save your money and go via the NHS instead — you’ll likely receive your results quicker and have a clear point of contact if anything needs chasing up.
