Good rate but could be easier to use

No complaints about the rate - more Euros per pound than anywhere else. Once I was abroad though it was difficult to manage the card; the Ukash website isn't available in Greece. The app no longer seems to work either, even in the UK.

Quick, easy and safe

I decided to get a Ukash card as my son was off to the USA on a school trip and I didn't want him taking money or travellers' cheques. It tuned out to be a great decision as he lost cash but fortunately not the card so he still had a good time.

Excellent Value For Money

Having read the positive reviews about the Ukash Travel Money Card, I decided to give it a go and I am now very happy I did.

The exchange rates are fantastic and good value for money.

The website was very simple to use and I got my card within 5 days.

I will tell all my family and friends about Ukash.

Great service and free, what more could you want?

I found out about ukash through the money saving expert websitevand it is truly great for when travelling in Europe. I got the euro pre-paid travel mastercard, which you get for free and no charge for delivery. It says on the website 5-7 days for delivery and I got mine in 5 days exactly. So simple to register the card and you get the PIN immediately via text, so you can use straight away. You use it just like you would your own card but no charges for using abroad and was by far the best rate I could find when I was topping it up with euros. Easy to top up and view your balance using an online account and secure as anytime an important transaction was made you get an email. Couldn't recommend this any more!!

Bad experience. Would not recommend.

I ordered my card and was told it would take 5-7 days to come. I emailed to explain that I thought there would be an option for next day delivery. It stated that they would get back to me within 24 hours. 3 days later I had to email them to ask why I had not had a response. I was assured that this length of time was the longest it would take and that it was likely to arrive quicker than that. On the 5th working day/7th day after ordering it still was not received. This meant that the funds that I had put on the card were not available to me going abroad. I phoned up to request a refund. I explained the situation and I was on the way to the airport at the time. I spoke to a helpful advisor. Who sent me a form to ask me to request a refund which would take 10 days. I emailed back to say that I did not find it acceptable that I had to wait 10 days for a refund, I was within the 14 day cooling off period and the form had to be signed and sent back which I could not do at that point. I emailed again to say I was unable to send the form back until I got back from my holiday. It was only when I mentioned the Financial Ombudsman did I get a response. I have now not had access to this money for over 2 weeks. And the earliest I am able to send the form back is tomorrow. So another 10 days from there to wait for me money. I would not recommend this company.Their processes and dealings with them are not easy. I also do not see why I have to sign for a refund when I did not have to sign for a card.

Could do better

This is the first time I have used this card for my euros. I haven't actually travelled abroad yet, however I have had a couple of problems before actually using the card. The first being navigation around the website, I thought after I signed in I would be able to look at my account and chose the prepaid debit card option which wouldn't let me sign in. After two phonecalls, the first being a complete waste of time, I realised that I had to go to the travel money card option and not the prepaid debit card option. Then today I have gone to the cashpoint to make sure my card works and change my pin to a more memorable one, after chosing the option on the screen to change my pin. However this did not work and failed three times. Upon returning home and calling customer services yet again I was told that the option to change your pin is not yet available. I know this type of card is in it's infancy with UKASH but it does make me feel a little uneasy to use it abroad now and load too much money on to it, however because of time restraints I don't really have a choice. I would suggest a revamp of the website and the option to change pin numbers to be made priorities to bring the service up to date with other suppliers.

Good idea, just be patient.

The positives...

Great idea for a pre-pay mastercard to bring on holiday. Website is pretty easy to use, and everything on there is straight forward. Slight delay getting the card, I was a bit concerned as I was going on holiday but it arrived a couple of days later than estimated.

The not so positives...

Rang customer service as card did not arrive. Stuck on phone a long time, never got through. Email reply is 24 hours later, so need to work on this area.

Theory of card good but getting up and running awful

My Husband got two of these cards, one for me and one for him so that we could use in Greece.
He had so many problems trying to top up the cards and transfer from one account to the other its un-true, finally ending in UKASH telling him there was no app for his IPHONE even after he had managed to transfer money using the app (he couldn't do this in a web browser) they still asked for a screen shot to prove that he had actually used the app, quite a hassle really and the staff obviously don't know the limitations of the service.
good rate but raising a ticket for support is like an ever increasing circle

Not bad but some apparent teething issues

Unfortunately I originally ordered the wrong currency card in error. Called straight away to cancel however it took near two weeks and several calls and e-mails for this to happen.

Great System!

Read about this card on the Martin Lewis website.
Ordered one online and topped up with Euros. Simple and easy to do.
Just back from holiday in Spain where I used it.
I liked the idea of saving for the holiday with Ukash so I knew the money was mine and wasn't building up debt.
All in all I am well pleased!!!

Great card but poor systems let down the service

The card worked fine and the exchange rate was great. However the ukash site was slow at times and failed at other times. I got errors on the site that where clearly to do with ukash systems. The worse part was being abroad and not being able to put more euros on my prepaid euro travel card. This was such a shame as any savings I had made by using the card where wiped out by using my debit card. On this occasion it was a Friday evening so I could not call support, I waited until Saturday morning and when I called I got a message saying support was closed while they did maintenance.

Very easy to set up .

The set up was very easy and the card was delivered in the most as was said . A modern way to carry travel money , with ease of payments with the mastercard sign .

never seen so many un published gotchas and poor knoweldge of systems by staff

I purchased two cards for myself and my wife so that we could limit any loses when we were travelling to Greece (we haven't been yet so lord knows what will happen if I get any issues whilst out of the UK)
First I was unable to link my debit card to my account so that I could male payment on to the cards in a click, then I loaded the IPhone app to my IPhone and couldn't get this to work and was told there was no support for the app, even though I had downloaded.
Then I paid money on to my wife's card using my debit card, the money went on to my card...mmmm so no problem I see you can transfer money to another UKASH card, so I try to transfer to my Wife's card, message you are trying to transfer too much, try a lower value, I do this right down to ten euros, still no joy so I log another support call with the operators who pretty much by standard escalate to another department straight away, the SLA is 24-48 working hours, if I'm on holiday and have an issue on a Thursday afternoon I could wait till Monday.
I work for a large corporate and customer service is everything, if my copier breaks it gets fixed quicker. This is real everyday cash and if I were on holiday and had to spend my time chasing this all day my holiday would be ruined. Don't rely on this company take another card and a hit on the fees.

so easy to use .an save

had to pay for a holiday i had booked online with a french company, sent the money from my bank to ukash , then payed online , saved around £60 in fee,s etc, will be using the card at all the toll roads on our drive across france , no more searching for change !!! brilliant
