Just had all my windows and front door replaced and I'm really pleased with them. I had a lovely experience with the whole team - from Martyn who was my initial contact and managed the installation, the surveyors and fitters who were respectful of my property and did a real tidy job and Julie in the office who sorted out the arrangements and payments. Everyone was really friendly and approachable. I would definitely recommend them.

This company cold-called me. I’m not in the market for new windows, but I asked about replacing a few blown glazed panels.

I made it absolutely clear I only wanted a simple quote for four panes and no sales pitch. I was assured this wouldn’t be a problem and booked an appointment.

When they called to confirm, I repeated this — and they cancelled the appointment. In what world can any company turn down a potential sale?

Utterly ridiculous and a complete waste of my time.

Had a phone call seemingly to try and get the sale, well, chaps, as they say, you only ever get one chance to impress, and you failed.

Another telephone call today, and once again I have told them to stop harassing me.

Recently had windows and new front door installed through Universal Trade Windows.. very happy with final result! Had couple issues after with marks on window and broken vent but were quickly rectified. Billy was great and good communication throughout when sometimes had difficulty getting through to office. We were approached by a door-to-door salesman while I was getting into my car and were asked if we’d like a quote for replacing the roof on our porch. I agreed to arrange an appointment to get a quote. Later I received a call from Mike to book the visit, and he specifically asked if the appointment time would stop us from working or going out.

However, when the salesperson arrived, the appointment turned into a long sales pitch. After about an hour I explained that I needed to go out, but that my husband could stay and continue discussing the plans. At that point we were told the salesperson had to phone head office because the appointment apparently had to be attended by both homeowners. I was then put on the phone to “Mike”, who said, “When I booked the appointment with you I asked if you needed to go out – did you not hear me?” The tone came across quite dismissive.

It felt as though the company expected us to commit two or more hours of our time, despite the visit being described as simply measuring up and providing a quote. Ironically, the salesperson even began his pitch by saying he wasn’t “one of those salesmen who sits in your house for hours”.

They returned the next day and we were eventually given a quote of nearly £9,000 to replace the porch roof and windows, which was then reduced to £6,600 if we agreed to go ahead on the same day. When we explained that we don’t make impulsive decisions on such a large purchase, we were questioned on why. Spending £6,600 is not something we feel should be rushed.

After later reading other reviews and seeing that a number of customers reported negative experiences, we’re very glad we chose not to proceed with this company.

Our flat roof had been on for years and developed a leak - Connor came and gave us a quote and explained everything about the roofing material which sounded so much better than the felt! He was really professional and after his visit we were contacted by the office team to arrange a survey, everyone who got in touch was really friendly and helpful. The guys who came to fit it were brilliant, really good workers who kept us informed during the day about how it was going etc., the finished result is excellent we are really pleased and it was tested last night in the rain - no leaks!! However, I feel confident that if there was a problem I would have no hesitation in contacting them and they would put it right - very reliable and trustworthy team, Thanks Connor and all the others in the team and the lovely fitters!

Bit late doing this. I had my front door and back door fitted by a charming young man called Sunday on the 12th Feb. He was an absolute gem did a fantastic job, never stopped the whole time hecwas here with is helper. He deserves a bonus or pay rise. Brilliant 👍🏻🤗

Excellent service from start to finish. Sales were fair and well priced compared to others, offie staff were friendly and always will to go above and beyond to help and the fitters were on time and did a excellent job in a short amount of time. I was always reassured all the way through and they allowed fitting times around my job. Everything was done around me and worry free. Would 100% recommend and use again for doors and windows in the future.

There was a rocky start (we cancelled the order because, after a factory visit, the actual colour of the door was very different to the brochure, and we were told we couldn't have "astragal bars"). Subsequently, we were persuaded to continue with a different door, and we could have astragal bars after all. The installer (whose name is Sunday) was brilliant and deserves five stars in his own right. Our one criticism of the company is communication: nobody seems to talk to anybody else, which means that dealing with them is far harder than it needs to be. Universal admit this themselves. We have been assured that a (recent) re-organisation should mean that future contracts proceed more smoothly than ours did. However, we are very satisfied with the final result. We've knocked off a star for the hassle in getting there.

Third time I have used universal windows and they are still brilliant at what they do. Team turned up and cracked on with very little issue. Job was done to perfection and was completed in a very reasonable time. Can't fault them.

The guys were great. Respectful prompt and professional. The company bent over backwards to make everything work. This is tge second set of work I've had with these guys and ill go to them again when I need my next upgrade

Had a quote for our front windows and a side passage door, quote was quick and reasonable with very friendly staff explaining the different options available.

Official survey came out same day to measure everything, finalising the measurements etc

Within a week, we were booked in for the work to be carried out.

Really happy with the final look and service, the fitters were really good and ensured they tidied up any mess created from the work.

We have had new garage doors. They are unbelievable, they are so smart and easy to use, the house feels warmer already. Thanks again

From start to finish, everyone that I have dealt with has been lovely.

The fitters for my doors completed the work amazingly and in great time. Massively happy with the products made and installed.

Good communication throughout was able to pick up the phone and call anytime. Door fitted really nicely and quality is great. Couple of delays right at the end on some finishing touches, but these were sorted very quickly. Happy customer.

Nothing but problems!

Had every window and door redone with this company, initially a good start- despite a letter box not being added to the frame which we ordered and told to buy a letter box and would be reimbursed. Shock, that didn’t happen. Then took over two weeks and booking more time off work before work had been completed due to them not booking builder when required.

Called continuously to get this booked in and query why we were told it would done over the initial two day fitting period. Got brushed off every time, rude, swore at, and hung up on.

Installation in the final window got completed and then had to chace up for the plastering repair work. Same thing when queried.

Had to then get our own plasterer in to repair the plaster that had been done by one of their traders.

We have called about repair work that needed carrying out- cracked door frame, blown seal in bedroom window, front door not closing properly, back door jamming and not locking.

I called and made an appointment for some to attend to address all these issues, the day before I got a call to rearrange- couldn’t due to work commitments and asked if they are still going to attend appointment, was assured that they would and it would be a morning call out.

Shock surprise, no one turned up- not even a phone call to cancel so a day stuck at home for no further progress. Tried calling a number of times and no answer from them company.

We had our initial fitting two years ago, wanting to give them the chance to make arrangements for repairs but still this far down the line they aren’t interested.

Avoid at all costs. Absolutely shocking.

We had almost all of our windows and doors replaced and we’re very happy with the finished product. The installers themselves were good, polite, and left the house clean and tidy. However, the overall experience was let down by poor communication and aftercare.

After the initial install, it took over a month to sort a broken window pane and a damaged frame. During that time, we had to chase constantly for updates, experienced repeated missed call-backs, and were often left with no clear information.

We escalated the issues and spoke to managers and directors, but despite reassurance during calls, progress was slow and follow-through was inconsistent, which was frustrating and stressful.

The end result is good, but the after-sales service and communication definitely need improvement. If any issues arise after installation, be prepared to chase to get them resolved.
