Horrible! When I tried to return the lashes that weren't applicable they went back n forth for a week about giving me half my money back and I still didn't get anything back! Beware the scam!

They are horrible
They are horrible. Not for the employee. I was hospitalized, have seen 3 different Cardiologists & am scheduled for two different procedures to address my issues. It's been almost a month & UNUM still has not approved my leave! I've had 2 of the Dr.'s do the paperwork 3 times! What more do they want? All they do is add stress while you are out due to a medical issue. Pathetic.
Unum is the worst insurance for short…
Unum is the worst insurance for short term disability and long term disability. I had major surgery in November on my lower back. They wanted more information and both my doctor and myself sent that information. Getting hold of your case worker is a joke because they don't call you back.I got two payments and then nothing. They claim that they have to talk to their clinical experts. Their so called medical experts says different on what my doctor's are saying. They have not seen me at all so how do they know how I am doing. I am going on 5 weeks with know benefits. They are rude and keep telling you 5 business days, when it is over a month. Don't invest in this company ,They are scamming you out of your benefits that you pay into.
…don't buy unum go with Aflac way better
This place use to take 2-3 business days to pay hospital indemnity claims now it's 6 business day and paper work later and then the non speaking English folks 🙄 don't understand and tell you they are backed logged from November and how is this my problem when I had a claim from last year and some how it got erased you think you are dealing with stupid folks yall are gonna get a lawsuit and a class action lawsuit it does not take from. Last year to this year be prepared to pay out big money more than you thought. Horrible company Horrible customer service
Denied coverage for short term…
Denied coverage for short term disability insurance because I have a minor medical issue that would never have anything to do with needing short term disability. I wish the company I work for had done a better job seeking a more professional and competent insurance provider. Especially after seeing all these terrible reviews . I plan of speaking to my HR representative about this and I hope next year we have a different provider.
Keep Raising Premium Costs
I have paid into this long term care insurance for over 20 years with no claims. Now that I am on a fixed income they keep yearly raising my quarterly premiums. It appears that now that I am older and more likely to use the insurance they are trying to force me out.
I have never dealt with more…
I have never dealt with more incompetent agency. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing.
UNUM Deserves a Zero Score
UNUM is well-known for denying legitimate claims for those in need for long-term disability. If you have your claim denied by UNUM for any reason. Contact a workers compensation attorney immediately. They will screw you over if given a chance to. You are your own best advocate.
This company is an absolute joke
This company is an absolute joke. They drop people off the insurance for no supplied reason. I guess they are only willing to insurance perfectly healthy people to take their money. This being the company that most employers use in my area is horrendous. I hope that one day the people of this company have to deal with a company just like themselves.
I would give a 0 if I could
I would give a 0 if I could, had a hip replacement, they always was wanting
Updates, they wanted updates before a post opt, appt, before the surgeon, even had a chance to see me after is procedure, very unprofessional
What a great company
What a great company! Especially folks from Client Success team.
Worst Company Ever for Disability/Leave
Have called their customer service 10 or more times since having to take an unexpected leave of absence from work in mid August. I've gotten the run around numerous times. Customer service reps are horrible and give me the run around. They put the wrong date on my letter that states when my leave ends. It's impossible to talk to my case manager/specialist. Run away from this company if possible. You shouldn't be stressed out taking a leave of absence or doing a short term disability claim when you can't work. You should be recovering and not stressed out.
Absolutely horrible
Absolutely horrible! Their process took so long I am now homeless. I lost absolutely everything due to the fact that they are incompetent and don't give a damn about their customers. After 6 months of waiting I received $145. When there should have been a few zeros added to that. I gave them all the paperwork they asked for, but yet it wasn't good enough. Their website and their app don't work at all. And anyone you talk to has no clue what they're doing. It amazes me that these people can sleep at night knowing what they do to their customers. This is an absolute disgrace of a company. Stay far far away from them. And for business owners, if you care about your employees you'll go elsewhere with your money. All they do is screw people and rob them. It amazes me how they're allowed to get away with this stuff they do.
For hip replacement on Aug 12
For hip replacement on Aug 12, I started the claim July 3 to provide them with time to process my claim. I received no response so I called July 29. I was assured my claims representative would return my call by the end of the day. The claim representative did not return my call so I called again on July 30. I was again assured my claims representative would return my call by the end of the day. No return call. Same situation on July 31. I received no information from them until the day of my surgery. While I was in the recovery room, they sent me a text telling me I had to fill out a form before they would affirm my claim. So in the recovery room, immediately after surgery I was online filling out forms for my claim. My recovery was designated to be 3 months by my doctor. Unum only approved four weeks. Then I'll have to refile. The company should not be in business. They have no interest in serving their customers to make the customer's recovery less stressful. Dealing with them has been more stressful than my actual hip replacement. If I could rate them a "0" I would.
This company is so horrible
This company is so horrible. People don't know what they're doing. The staff need to be trained. No one knows what they are doing. You could waste all your time and they still don't know what they're doing. I have been trying to take care of something for months and no one has done anything to help except to make it worse and more difficult. I would give them 0 rating
TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY
TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! I have been paying into this as a carry over from a previous employer and I know I am slow but realized today what a scam this is. Most of the time I can't even log in to my account and good luck getting in contact with a real person. I was lucky enough today to do that and that she seemed like a decent human being (but I feel bad for her). Anyway, enough is enough - I am done. I also recommend that anyone, everyone who has eyes to read (or ears to hear) get out ASAP. You are wasting your money. I think it would be a TOTAL NIGHTMARE trying to make a claim with this company.
The most tedious problematic insurance
The most tedious and problematic insurance company in the WORLD! The app doesnt work, website is down often. you can only contact them through 1 phone number, no email. and they will take their time with your claim. Huge downfall of working with them is utilizing their dastardly app which always has some issue. The won't tell you this but when you apply for a claim it disappears from your account. You'll think it wasn't submitted. Something that should have been communicated! I Filled out 5, yup, 5 applications because I wasnt aware that once it's complete, it disappears from your "applied claims" page, and no they don't tell you.
Applied for Massachusetts Paid FMLA
Applied for Massachusetts Paid FMLA. They tell you use their app/website for your application etc but it is really bad and you will have to call customer service... They create a second claim as other users mentioned here ..a short term disability claim ..customer service is clueless an CASE Worker can not be reached directly. I spent half an hour calling from Europe to get to my case worker who was busy ...Now I have to call back again
CAN I PLEASE GET AN EXTENSION?
I requested only to be notified via usps. No emails or no texts. My disability prevents me from being on the computer for any length of time, so I avoid it. At the end of May 2024 UNUM sent an email informing me they needed to update my medical condition ie. have doctor fill out more paperwork. I never received the email until the end of June when I just happened to open my email. I am in the middle of switching providers as mine is on leave of absence and trying to get an extension for the paperwork to
be completed is impossible. I have requested an extension for the third time. I feel my request in reasonable given I was never given the initial request and this is a new provider. I have to establish a relationship with her obviously and my appt is not until the end of July. Also, I was forced to go on SSD because of UNUMs policy, so I am only being paid $380/mth. With the lack of cooperation, I am getting from UNUM on granting an extension on my paperwork, I am about ready to give up the money I am receiving from them because frankly it is not worth my mental health. They are not helpful in any respect. How hard is to understand I need an extension I asked for one month.
AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL
AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL
Completely useless people.
Claiming income protection with the help of HR and EVERYONE at uNuM is pathetic, useless and mediocre at the very very best. I hope you lot get fired ASAP or close down.
Pure TRASH
Denied Valid Claim
I enrolled in UNUM voluntary insurance and the coverage information included eye injuries and surgery. On 11/30/2023 I had surgery for a detached retina and a Giant Retinal Tear. The doctors injected silicone oil into my eye for recovery purposes. On 2/8/2024, I had a second surgery to remove the oil. I submitted a claim for an accident due to the detachment, however, I could not say exactly how my retina became detached and torn. It usually involves head trauma, but again, I could not pin point the exact incident because detachments/tears can be slow to evolve. I told my doctor this and I was honest on my claim. It was denied because UNUM said that a detached retina is an illness, not an accident. I filed a different claim for my retina surgeries with the illness form and that claim was denied, stating retinal detachment is not an illness. Again, my coverage includes eye injuries ($300) and surgeries ($1000). It seems UNUM is finding creative ways to not provide coverage that I have been paying for the past year.
