Lack of Ethics and Transparency in Charges

We have been with the program for two years, making a monthly payment of $437. Last week, we were informed that since they were unable to achieve a settlement agreement with Capitol 1, we had two choices: either increase our monthly payment to $992/ month or pay a lump sum of $6,100. If we could afford either of these options, we would not have chosen this company to begin with. Additionally, when notified of these options, we were not given a breakdown or explanation of charges. We ended up paying more than our original debts. This company has horrible overseas customer service and I was unable to talk directly to anyone capable of making a decision.

Better Customer Service Needed

Their Customer Service is excellent when you are signing up, they make you feel welcoming and say you can reach them whenever. But once you are in contract the Customer service changes its hard to get in touch with them and some of the reps can be rude. Otherwise they are helping with my credit solution...they just need to get better with Customer service communications.

They charged us triple the amount

They charged us triple the amount. 2/3 went into fees. They are not working for you they are working for their pockets. I would give them a negative if I could. Don't trust them they will rob you blind and then give you a negative on your credit report.

always asking for more money to get other accounts settled while at the beginning of the contract they gave me a total amount that I was gonna pay every month and now they’re asking for more money that it’s not right thank you

Because you are currently paying on other settlements, a large portion of your monthly service deposit is being used toward those accounts. When an account reaches a legal status and there are not enough funds available to accept a settlement, we will still work to obtain a settlement offer. In those situations, we will present the offer along with the additional funds needed to accept the settlement offer so you can decide whether you would like to move forward or not.
The same applies when we receive a very favorable settlement offer but there are not sufficient funds available at that time. We will still present the offer and the additional funds required, giving you the option to accept or decline.

Horrible customer service and bad business practices

Horrible customer service, they make the program as long and painful as they can while charging outrageous fees. I ended up paying most of my debts myself and working with creditor. I highly suggest working with your creditors yourself and not this company

I would not even give this company a 1…

I would not even give this company a 1 star. The Customer service Rep. Kept me on the phone over 40 min twice now, with no resolution. Keeps blaming the customer by sarcastically mixing his words. I also, have not been able to get into their Portal to view my acct. according to him it's not possible and I am the issue. Clarity SUCKS! Sorry I ever called this company!!

Use anyone else

They only get 1 star because the customer service staff are always nice. Other than that, horrible company. There are a million others to use, try them. Any time something is within their power, the process takes excruciatingly long, there are a million extra hoops and they act like they have no control over anything. Nothing moves along with any purpose or without prompting. I had to stay on them every step of the way to make sure anything was getting done. I even removed and negotiated 2 accounts myself, because they are so incompetent. And heaven forbid they ever draft money they are not supposed to. It will take several weeks to get it back. The supervisors and other departments are never available to discuss things. Your account manager is never available to discuss anything. It is beyond ridiculous. Don’t waste your time or energy.

They tried but not what was required

I had them work on my accounts but I didn't have all the correct information given to me when they signed me up or I didn't understand their procedures. I understood they would contact all the companies in the beginning. No they wait until they have money enough to handle one account at a time lowest one first. I got out of there.

Worst experience I've ever had

Worst experience I've ever had. All bullshit!. I'm a year in they haven't negotiated any settlements. When I signed up they instructed me to stop making payments, they would take care of everything. I made my payments to them consistently. A month in they gave me the up sale for legal representation. Now my credit is trashed and I;m being sued by my creditors

Regrettably

Regrettably, signing in here was a grave mistake. I was seeking a loan to consolidate my credit debt at a more favorable interest rate. While I received a mail solicitation offering a 5% interest rate loan, the representative failed to provide comprehensive details of the settlement plan, resulting in my misunderstanding and subsequent consequences. Given my financial situation, I feel that the representative took unfair advantage of me. This experience strikes me as a form of legal scam. Unfortunately, the representative who initiated contact is never responded . Am glad I canceled and out of these nonsense.

Avoid at all costs!

Avoid at all costs. This has been one of the most awful, infuriating, and downright exhausting experiences I’ve ever dealt with. The sales rep paints a picture of relief and simplicity when you’re at your most vulnerable, but the moment you sign up, the support evaporates. You’re basically on your own. There’s no urgency, no follow‑up, and no meaningful negotiation for over a year—long enough for you to get legally served by a law firm while the company sits on its hands. Only then do they suddenly scramble to “help,” as if the crisis they ignored wasn’t predictable from the start.

Then come the fees. By the time you “graduate” from the program, you realize you’ve gained absolutely nothing. In fact, you’ve lost more—time, money, and peace of mind. And just when you think the nightmare is finally over, the creditors start sending 1099‑C forms that you now have to report as income on your taxes. So instead of getting relief, you’re hit with a tax burden you never expected. It’s infuriating. The whole thing feels like a trap disguised as help.

Imagine trusting a program to get you back on your feet, only to end up in a worse financial position than when you started. It makes no sense. Honestly, the real fools are those of us who believed the sales pitch.

Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from debt resolution programs—especially this one.

CLARITY SABOTAGES SETTLEMENTS BEWARE

Clarity debt resolution sabotaged a settlement with me by violating California consumer protection laws by attempting to charge me illegal advance fees as a boundary to accept settlement. When I asked them for copies of the settlement agreement with discover and capital one they refused to give them to me or show me any correspondences, leaving me instead to get sued by the credit card. Upon finding out about the illegal advance fee that sabotaged my settlement and caused me to get sued by my credit company I promptly reported upon understanding to the CFPB. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY, they broke the Rosenthal act, claim to NOT be fiduciaries while acting as such, then sabotage your settlements in interest of profits instead of your well being. My case is LA superior court 25CHLC00215. It is public, extensive, and all the evidence (including an email from clarity demanding a fee in order to settle my debt that was "non negotiable" and a clear violation of the TSR and Rosenthal Acts. BEWARE THIS COMPANY! If anyone has this experience feel free to contact me for the exact emails where not only they lied in initiation of the contract but I have emails from them PROViNG the advance fee fraud. The reply below is a lie in a flagrant attempt to hide their actions. CFPB has also been notified. Look up clarity there for evidence.

They Didn’t Settle Our Debt – They Profited From It

In May 2023, Clarity told us they expected to settle our debts in about six months; instead, after more than a year in their program, I was sued by JPMorgan Chase with a trial date set for January 2025, while they provided almost nothing of real value in return. They phoned monthly with “updates” that boiled down to “no progress,” and in the middle of supposed debt negotiations, they even tried to upsell us on a loan instead of actually resolving the debt.


When they finally offered a “settlement,” the total with their fees was higher than the original debt, which they tried to push on us over the phone while refusing to send clear details by email, as if they were avoiding a paper trail. We asked at the start if we’d have to pay extra for legal services and were told over the phone it would be no cost, yet we were charged about $1,800 in legal fees throughout the program, and the only time that the legal service actually helped us was when we used it to negotiate directly with JPMorgan Chase and cut Clarity out.
The numbers they didn't share add up or match what was in the actual contract (extra fees for quick settlement), and when we challenged them in writing and laid out the discrepancies, they went silent.

As of this week, our accounts with Clarity are finally closed; we waited to write this because we were honestly worried about retaliation while debts were still being resolved. If you are considering them, DON’T—speak to a real financial advisor first, because they will almost certainly tell you this kind of program is a bad idea, and if you are already stuck with them, get every promise in writing and, where it is legal, record every phone call so you have proof when their story changes.

Do not use Clarity Debt Resolution. They lied about timelines, kept taking money after the debt was already paid, and dodged every reasonable request for a straight answer.

They dragged the process out for years, ignored the spirit of their own contract, and focused on piling on fees instead of actually resolving debt.

I was even sued by a major bank on an account they sat on for almost two years, and I ultimately settled directly with the bank for less than it would have cost going through Clarity once their fees were added. In the end, the program was a complete waste of time and energy with no real benefit to me.

This feels like a scam operation that preys on people in financial distress and is primarily interested in extracting as much money as possible, not helping anyone get back on their feet.

Top tip: use the third‑party attorney they make you pay for against them. That attorney can submit a debt plan directly to your creditor, allowing you to sidestep these thieves. Just do not sign anything Clarity gives you.

Regarding the legal action you mentioned, anytime one of our clients is sued, we do work diligently to resolve the account as quickly as possible and in your case we did, but we understand how stressful legal matters can be and regret that this situation added to your frustration.
With respect to the concerns about ongoing drafts, accounts are typically drafted until they are officially graduated from the program. That said, I can confirm that all future drafts on your account have been canceled while we wait for your account to be graduated. All Funds left in your escrow account after everything is paid off will be returned back to you as soon as your account is graduated and closed.

Not getting that warm fuzzy feeling that I can trust them...

I've only been with them since June of 2025 and have already been served papers by one of my creditors. That is without missing any payments. They tell you to email Veritas ASAP if you are served papers for legal assistance. Well when I did I was told they require a summons page (which I did not receive from the carrier that served me) and that, "The payment that was due from Clarity to Veritas on the 2nd is currently missing, this needs to be cleared in order to process the lawsuit." I only have 14 days to respond to the summons! When I tried to call Clarity's customer service line, I was met with an automated message that directs you to the app (leaving out the apps name) and then hangs up. I tried the number they share here when they respond to negative reviews and it does something similar. I've really second guessed their legitimacy as a company.

No hay resultados como lo dicen ellos

Desde el principio me dijeron que la eliminación de deuda y va a ser rápido y luego resultó que lo la persona paga casi todo va a pagar los abogados y muy poco para pagar la deuda y pasa el tiempo y no se ve resultados como me habían dicho por eso no recomiendo esta cia.
