I purchased a 2020 Countryman under the MINI Approved Used scheme, but the experience has been far below the standards expected.
Upon collection, the car was poorly prepared: I found a McDonald’s chip in the passenger footwell, sticky tape left on the number plate, and stickers still on the windscreen. When I challenged this, I was told their detailer had been pulled away to work on a BMW instead—a pathetic excuse for a premium handover.
It took a complaint to MINI UK just to get them to service the car. They initially tried to avoid the service on a technicality of it being a week or so outside of the window and wanted to charge me full price when I asked them to service it.
From the day of collection, the wiper blades were juddering and squealing loudly see video showing before and after attached). Despite providing clear video evidence, David (Management) rejected the claim. I replaced the blades myself, and they are now silent, proving the originals were defective at point of sale. On top of this, prior to my collection they had scratched the infotainment display screen.
Furthermore, their knowledge of their own products is concerning. I was told their Vertu warranty is identical to the MINI UK Manufacturer Warranty, which is factually incorrect. Vertu’s warranty is a much lesser quality than Mini UK’s so I’d recommend you say no to their extended warranty.
Overall I was disappointed by the poor standards of preparation on collection day, the fact that my infotainment display is now permanently scratched from it being cleaned with a dirty microfibre cloth, they lost my car mats and only when I refused to progress with the finance did they then get back and confirm they found them and finally that I had to complain to Mini to get my car serviced.
I still stand by the fact that the wiper blades are worn and should have been changed and I think it’s crazy that they are refusing it over such a low cost item. Mini UK sided with me but it’s out of their control. David’s decision is final and they will not be changing them.
On top of that my car has a turbo wastegate rattle and there is an issue with excess wind noise entering the cabin. This is being investigated by another dealership as i’ve lost complete trust in this dealership.
