Just back from another trip with Waternomads to Northland Karikari peninsula. As usual, it didn’t disappoint. Relaxed atmosphere and well organised by hosts Bevan and Heidi. Comfortable elevated accommodation overlooking Coopers Beach, restaurant quality catering and a friendly group of fellow sailors. The peninsula is ideal as a sailing destination as it offers a variety of close proximity spot choice depending on wind direction. The water is warm and there was an abundance of wind!

Water nomads organized a fantastic trip to Northland with great food and good company. We were on the water every day. Highly recommended.

What a great experience with Heidi and Bevan. The location and organisation was superb - lots of information at every stage. Lots of free and sounds advice on many levels - location, biking and of course sailing. Food was delicious and plentiful. I highly recommend these guys if you want to get out in what NZ has to offer and want awesome support to do so. Thanks again. Mike.

Such a fun bunch of like minded crazy people, fun , friendly and professional.We had the best trip, managed to foil every day on a variety of local lakes Lake Ohau, Lake Aviemore, Lake Pukaki only to mention a few. It was so good having someone find the wind for us doing it with Water Nomads definitely took all the guess work out of it.
Even our new Wind surfer friend from Singapore found good wind. Awesome foiling with spectacular scenery, not to mention the amazing food and excellent accommodation.
If you are thinking about foiling in the Canterbury Lakes, Twizel this is a must, join Water Nomads !

Great gear, modern, in good shape. Glad I didn’t bother lugging my board and foils halfway around the world. I was worried I’d have to settle for old/beat up beginner equipment, but Water Nomads had good quality intermediate level stuff (65L board, spitfire 900 foil, 4 and 5m PPC wings). No damage on them. They were super friendly and gave me great info about the local spots as well. NZ is lucky to have them.

WaterNomads’ owners were prompt in returning messages right from the start and throughout the two weeks I rented from them. Equipment was top notch. It was truly the best experience I could have asked for!

Had an absolutely fantastic 3-day wing foiling 'Surfari' trip over the Matariki holidays with Water Nomads, led by the wonderful Heidi and Bevan! As a beginner to wing foiling, I couldn't have asked for better. They were incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and made learning so much fun. We spent three brilliant days in the 'winterless North,' with perfect conditions for foiling and plenty of opportunities to get comfortable on the water. Their enthusiasm and dedication to ensuring everyone had a great time really shone through. If you're thinking of trying wing foiling or want a professionally run, super enjoyable watersports adventure, look no further than Water Nomads!

We rented windsurfing equipment from Heidi and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. She met us near the airport, which was super convenient, and provided us with excellent gear along with great advice on windsurfing conditions and the forecast throughout New Zealand. Their local knowledge really helped us make the most of our time on the water. Returning the gear was just as easy—she arranged to pick it up at a place that worked well for us. Friendly, flexible, and professional. Highly recommended!

Spent 6 days on the Canterbury Lakes safari with Water Nomads Feb 2025. What a brilliant experience. Heidi & Bevan are fantastic hosts who have a wealth of knowledge of the local area to ensure maximum time on the water in spectacular scenery. I’m from NZ but living in Northern Ireland I was coming back for an extended holiday & wanted to wing foil the lakes. Doing it with Water Nomads took all the guess work out the right locations plus amazing food & transport included.
Couldn’t recommend this trip enough.

What a great trip - Water Nomads have it dialled in for Wingers on the Canterbury Lakes. It’s the closest thing to paradise for wind sports. I’ll be back

Waternomads made me happy by providing the right wingfoil equipment during my month stay in New Zealand. As there are no local surf stations, you better call Heidi and ask to arrange a board, wing, foil or whatever. She is easy to reach and she makes sure that you get the right equipment. Moreover Waternomads knows the best surf spots in this big country, so I was very happy with my board the best spots and the friendly service of Heidi.

Very cool gear! It just feels better to travel along with some wing surf equipment in the car.
Collection and drop-off was easy to arrange, and best of it, Water Nomads made the rental possible, even for a very short-term request.

Great trip with amazing food, stunning views across the whole peninsula, and lovely people! As a newer windsurfer, I loved having the TIME to just sit and chat about different equipment, techniques and skills. I learned a lot, and will definitely join another trip!

Top quality gear. Super easy to arrange. They arranged drop off and collection at a location convenient for me. Would definitely recommend.

Signed on for the Water Nomads Northland Safari as a solo traveller and so glad I did rather than going it alone!
Great fun arriving at the beach to find a bunch of other keen foilers to share in the stoke and amp each other up.
Heidi and Bevan’s local knowledge made the most of the conditions by putting us in the right place at the right time and their easy going nature made the whole experience really enjoyable.
Food and accomodation are spot on with the freedom to take a packed lunch and venture where ever you like a high lite.
Highly recommend Water Nomads and look forward to joining them on the Southern Lakes Tour.
