I had my surgery with Weightloss Riga early in August 2025. From the time I put in my form to post surgery they have been brilliant!
I had some issues with booking my flight (my fault) but Mim was so supportive when I was panicking about it!
My flights were delayed but my taxi was there waiting for me to get in!
In Latvia Valentine was brilliant, nothing was to much trouble for him! He was happy to help translate in the chemist on discharge and when I wanted an earlier pick up to come home he sorted it with no issue.
The hospital was spotless and the staff were lovely. The staff members you deal with have good English and all the test were done in speedy time! They even picked up a health issue I knew nothing about, which was great as I have been able to get this looked at back in the UK. The surgery itself went well, I have healed very well and adjusting to life after surgery.
Back home, contacting Guna (dietician) or Mim is easy and they respond as soon as they can to any of your questions.

I had a brilliant experience with WLR from start to finish. The consultation and booking process was so smooth, and the coordinators (Mim and Sue) replied to my questions very quickly!

My experience in Riga was seamless from start to finish, from the airport transfer, to the pre op tests, the surgery and even the pickup from the hotel for my flight home.

The clinic was spotless. The staff at the clinic were helpful and kind, and I felt very much at ease despite my extreme nervousness! Thank you so much to all of the team. I can’t remember everyone’s names unfortunately but a special thanks to Valentin (the coordinator based in Riga) for being so organised and checking in on me regularly.

I would recommend WLR to anyone, and will definitely go back to the clinic if I ever want/need plastics in the future. Thank you for changing my life.

From the day I made the enquiry to having the surgery. I can't thank everyone enough. Mim and her team was amazing. The surgery was so clean the staff was amazing. The surgeon was great explained everything that whatbwas going to happen.

I was so impressed with Riga weight loss, they were so organised and caring and professional.I had revision therapy which is from a gastric band to Gastric bypass, I did my research being a health professional and I would highly recommend. The support on Facebook and what's app are so supportive and it was a pleasure meeting fellow people that were also lovely. So don't worry if you are going on your own, I'm sure you will be in safe hands.

Amazing from start to finish! Excellent communication if you needed anything you just had to ask! When in Riga the hospital and staff was amazing, again anything you needed you just had to ask! I cannot thank them all enough they have completely changed my life!

From start to finish from my 1st email to getting home I had the best support, I have depression and anxiety but was made to feel safe and comfortable with all the team at Riga.

Right from the beginning with Mim, so kind and patient and reassuring and she has been through every step of this journey. The care given at the clinic was simply Amazing. They all seem to really care and kept on top of things all the time. Everything happened when they said it would happen. I felt so safe and well cared for by the whole team. Everything ran better than clockwork! I would not hesitate to recommend!

Everything went like clockwork.picked up from airport taken to lovely central hotel for 1st evening. Picked up next day to go to clinic ( 20 mins away) thorough tests and op following day , discharged couple of days later. I choose to stay extra 3 nights in Riga. Glad I did , made flight home more comfortable and lots to do in Riga walking around , beautiful city.

I had a RYGB in Oct ‘23. I was looked after from the moment I met my coordinator at the airport and driven to the hotel. All transfers were included so the price you pay won’t need to be massively boosted by unforeseen extras! The clinic was as good as the Spire Clinic in the UK that I’d had surgery at. The tests were thorough and I got all test results and a discharge record to take to my GP in the UK. Latvia is EU which was important to me for the higher standards. Too many deaths and complications outside of the EU so not a risk I was prepared to take. The patient coordinators follow up on you up to 5 years post surgery and there is a superb Weightloss Riga Facebook group which is a very tight knit and supportive community for those who have had, or are considering surgery. I have lost all my excess weight and have been maintaining for a couple of months now. Friends have been out for surgeries thanks to my recommendation and I went thanks to the recommendation of one of my friends. I wish I’d don’t this 25 years ago. Too many years wasted.

I had my op on Tuesday the 2nd of July. I had Mim as my care coordinator and no question was silly to her and she replied to any questions as soon as she could. When you get to Riga Valetin takes over and makes sure all your transfers are sorted, he even meets you at the hotel the day you go to the clinic.The care you recieve at the clinic is absolutely amazing, I couldn't of asked for better nurses. They went above and beyond to insure you had everything and was as comfortable as possible whilst in their care. The surgeon is so experienced and sees you 3 times whilst you're there to answer any questions needed. I came home on Friday the 5th, I'm still in a little pain. However before I left i got to see the nutritionist Guna and she made sure I knew what I was doing for when I got home. So glad I chose weight loss Riga, the price is middle ground, but from the moment you arrive you feel at ease and know you're getting the best care. The only mini complaint I had was that when I got to the hotel they were super busy and stated I needed comfort for my hotel stay and I should upgrade my room for 100 euro which is a lot considering how much ive already paid to be there, I said I'm not there the whole time as my husband was with me and he was the one at the hotel for the full 5 days, the lady then proceeded to say well I need your room and I think you should look, we had a look and my husband agreed on the upgrade for his comfort however I don't understand why I should pay extra if they need my room. However I don't want this to reflex bad on weight loss riga as the hotel is an independent hotel.

From the moment i called WLR I knew I'd made the right decision. No question is a stupid question as I found out. Was never left waiting for an answer. The packages that are offered are so simple to understand. Yes you could quite happily have the basic package I personally chose silver as this was good for me. I just can't tell you how easy everything is to book. Most of my interaction was with Mim but I know the whole team are great and if Mim wasn't available I'd have a response from one of the others. Everything is done via email for your contracts and itinerary etc which works great for me. Was chauffeured to the hotel, clinic and airport with no issues at all. They have got this down to a T. I'd been doing research for over 12 months and although I could have had this done cheaper, that actually put me off. You truly need to ask yourself why some offer this procedure at that cost. The surgeon, Dr's, nurses, Valentin infact every staff member is wonderful. You couldn't be in better hands. I've paid for private care in England and my care was OK but Riga care was a whole new level. I didn't go alone but honestly you could quite easily. You will meet others there. I even explored Riga once I was discharged it's a beautiful place. There's not a single negative I could ever say about my experience. Even my family back home were at ease once I was there just knowing how well I was being looked after. To everyone who's been part of the start of my journey THANK YOU

The whole process from booking to my return journey home was absolutely seamless. Everything was perfect from pick up at airport, hotel, the clinic was absolutely spotless and the nurses were so lovely.
I would highly recommend WLR without a shadow of a doubt.

Everything was as described from the beggining, once the initial forms were sent back and provisionally approved for surgery(before a thorough pre op assesment at the hospital) all i had to do was book my flights and let the UK rep know and everything was organised, from transfers to hotel and hospital dates, which was then sent to me so I knew exactly what would happen and when, the surgery I had (full bypass) went to plan, amazingly no pain and very minimal discomfort after the op, and I have had no issues since returning home. I was terrified in the lead up to going as although I had spoken to my GP about my plans which he was fully supportive of and encouraging due to his knowledge of the strict compliance and expertise of the hosptial I was still going to a foreign country, all these worries dissapeared once at the hospital after seeing other patients about to be discharged and experience of the nurses and surgeons who would be looking after me. The hospital was spotless, cleaner than any UK hosptial iv been in. I would not hesitate to recommend any family or friends. I'm three stone down in the last 8 weeks with another 4 and a half to go.

I was recommended WLS by my doctor after many years (8+) of failed attempts to lose weight with the help of the NHS, my doctor couldn’t get me on any waiting lists here in the UK as they are all full in my area, so he supported my decision to have it done privately and agreed to help me with aftercare.

After a lot of research (3 weeks or so) I chose Weight Loss Riga for my Gastric Sleeve for three reasons:

1. There are so many great reviews and lots of articles in various tabloids in the UK that have documented peoples travels
2. The surgeon Dr. Troickis has an incredible working background, qualifications, and experience.
3. The price was just right for me.

My initial contact and also following contact with Mim was amazing, she was very patient with me and didn’t seem to mind my endless, repetitive questions either (I’m autistic, so there was many!)!

I made my deposit payment in December 2023 and opted for my surgery to take place March 2024.

After payment I received some letters telling me what to do and what to expect upon arrival and that was it for a couple of months! I'm not someone that has any social media accounts and so essentially aside from my initial research and conversations with Mim I was in the dark.

Two weeks before the operation I followed very strictly the Liver Reduction Diet (this was the hardest part looking back) having 4 x slim fast shakes a day plus 2L of water.

The day before I flew out to Riga I heard from the wonderful Valentin, who confirmed all what Mim had said and what was in the letters. I flew out to Riga and when I landed a taxi driver was waiting for me and took me straight to the hotel.

The hotel (Welton Riga Hotel and Spa) was lovely, very clean, friendly staff and lovely rooms even with a few English channels!

The next day it was time to go to the clinic (I was petrified), we were taken to a room to go through all the paperwork, I’m not a lawyer, but everything seemed on point. After the paperwork we were taken to our rooms, I paid extra for a private room, the rooms themselves were spotless!

Within 5 minutes of being in the room I was whisked away for height, weight, measurements by a really lovely nurse and then taken back to my room.

5 minutes later (I hadn't even unpacked yet!) I was taken to have bloods and a canular fitted, the nurse didn’t speak so much English (more than my Latvian though!) but we still communicated well, she was so gentle and really kind, teaching me a few Latvian words as well which I liked.

5 minutes later (honestly!) I was taken to ultrasound, the doctor there was very friendly and gentle also.

Next came the endoscopy... (the bit I was most dreading), I met the anaesthetist and was taken to a room. I was shaking (quite literally) and the nurses put me at ease, I curled up as instructed on a bed and before I knew it I was in a wheelchair being taken back to my room!! I would highly recommend paying extra for the sedation, the bit I was dreading the most actually turned out to be my favourite part, it was like waking up from the most peaceful sleep ever!

I was in my room for about 30mins before being taken for a chest x-ray, after this all the pre-op tests were done!

There were 3 people before me for the surgery (I chose to have surgery on the same day as the pre-op tests), so I got to sit peacefully in my room for 4 hours or so, before the surgeon came in to speak with me and answer any questions.

I was then led down to the theatre and got onto the operating table before being put to sleep. The surgery itself took around 40mins (I paid to have a video of the surgery which I've watched, very fascinating) but I woke up around 5 hours later being dressed by a nurse and encouraged to walk.

I spent 3 days recovering, all the nurses were wonderful, changing my drip, monitoring me, bringing me actimel etc. I really enjoyed my time recovering. I was also visited several times by the surgeon and other doctors as well as the nurses and Guna the nutritionist before being taken back to my hotel and flying home the next day.

My local doctor is supporting me during my recovery, and I paid for 1 year nutritionist appointments with Guna who has been fantastic (I recommend paying for this)!

I’m now 4 weeks post-op and for me the surgery has been a miracle like a light switch, I’m no longer obsessed by food, and I’ve already lost 3.5 stone.
I couldn’t recommend Weight Loss Riga enough, like everyone else… I wish I’d done it sooner.
