The Will Affidavit
The will information should be more clear that the affidavit should be attached to the will. I had to make 3 trips to the store to get it notarized.

The will maker was not comprehensive. Did not include a clause for a personal property memorandum.
Did not give a option for 'no contest.'

Thorough Paperwork
The website was easily navigated and the forms were clear. I did have a question about the POA for Finances and sent a message to support. Unfortunately, they never responded. That is why the star rating is not 5. Also, I learned that getting a notary to sign these forms is not as simple as going to your bank (they don’t sign wills, at least the two banks I asked didn’t). Ironically, the mailbox stores have notaries that can notarize (for hefty fee). That is the only drawback to DIY will-making; in a lawyer’s office, the notary is right there and you easily have witnesses. Of course, their fees are high. Mobile notaries are also sky high.

Quicken Willmaker makes it easy to draw up a trust or will. It was easy to make decisions on key questions as if I didn't understand the question or suggestion, there was many articles that discuss meanings and answers to questions were available. I started with just a simple will but found CA rules and regulations to cumbersome or bureaucratic so turned to a trust. Upon death of a trustee, for example, the Successor Trustee has to spend so much time addressing so many rules and jump through so many hoops, you would never ask your children to have to deal with such a mess. Now this cumbersome bureaucratic is not Quicken Willmaker's fault, but this program makes drawing up a trust easy. You just answer the simple questions and Quicken Willmaker draws up the forms and covers CA rules and regulations. This experience has again shown me that CA is such a bureaucratic and "red-taped" mess.

My initial attempt to record a…
My initial attempt to record a beneficiary deed was rejected by the county recorder stating the name of the grantor did not appear in the body of the document (it was only visible on the signature line). When I advised Willmaker of this issue and asked for guidance, they provided a thorough analysis and several suggestions for resolution. The first (and easiest) solution was acceptable to the county and it was recorded the same day. Willmaker also stated they would be updating their software due to my experience in this county so it will not occur again. It was the best display of genuine customer service I have witnessed in quite a while. I am very pleased with this product and their staff!
