Wonderlawn - Artificial Grass Installation Avis 

On 16 Sept 2020 this company laid a small artificial grass lawn. When Barry came out to survey the garden I had workmen already on site, pin curbs which would surround the lawn were already laid and I also advised the ground where the lawn was to be laid was very thick clay. I was told "not a problem as the hardcore being used would handle the drainage".
A week later we had our first day of heavy rain which left 3 large puddles on the lawn. I emailed Wonderlawn and Barry sent me a reply about drainage rates. I agreed to see how it went over the next few months once the lawn had settled.
22 Jan 2021 I Emailed again and advised water pooling was worse. A few days later Barry replied to say they would need to come out and fit some French drains but needed the weather to improve.
I Emailed again 6 July 2021 asking when they would be coming out. They said they would try to fit me in but it would be last minute.
I Emailed again 7 Sept 2021, was thanked for my patience said it would be sorted within next 2 to 3 weeks come hell of high water was the phrase they used. Nothing AGAIN.
23 Oct 21 I Emailed again as wanted it resolved before winter, no reply.
On 9 Nov 21 Mel (installation director) came out and had a look at the garden. He indicated the pin curbs around the lawn were causing the flooding and said he would come back with a resolution.
30 Nov 21 I still had not heard anything so I Email AGAIN. I was told Mel would have to reply but he was onsite that day.
2 Dec 21 still had not heard anything so I wrote a lengthy Email fully detailing the ongoing issues with no resolution in site.
6 Dec 2021 I received a reply from Mel ............ I would love to add the full Email here but it would exceed the character number allowed for a post ...maybe Wonderlawn could post the whole Email for everyone to see. Here are some of the highlights from that reply ....
.......... As we were not laying the edging, how were we to know that there was no allowance for drainage. Did the company that installed the edging mention this ? The edging has nothing at all to do with Wonderlawn and we would not comment or raise the situation with the other company.
Why do you feel this is Wonderlawns issue ? Why would we be liable for someone else’s work ? We are experts in the area of artificial grass, not drainage. We weren’t asked to comment on the edging in the same way that we don’t comment on paving that customers have installed. If you had new paving installed instead of edging, would you expect Wonderlawn to contact the paving company and explain how to install it ?
We installed our artificial grass correctly and as such it helps drainage as we are removing soil/earth/clay that retains water and replacing it with aggregates that drain much more freely. In your case this cannot happen because the edging you have decided to install is preventing the water from escaping. As I’ve mentioned, it is not Wonderlawns edging and not Wonderlawns job to question customers on their landscaping choices.
It was myself that came to see you and I was involved in the installation. I am not an expert in drainage and had no way of knowing how the edging was fitted. Surely it’s more reasonable to expect customers to do their own research before installing a product. Why would you feel it’s right to expect an artificial grass company to assume that the area was totally enclosed with edging and to then make recommendations about issues we are not involved in ?
As I’ve outlined, we are happy to come back and see were we are with the drainage first. We do not know what impact the constant flooding may have had on the grass, but, as we don’t feel the flooding is a result of any of Wonderlawn’s work, replacing the lawn is not something we would agree to.

So folks .... these guys are purely experts in laying the lawn. They do not take things like drainage into consideration, and as they know so little about drainage even if there is a glaring drainage issue they will still just lay the lawn. I would expect a company laying the lawn to know what the impact of constant flooding is as it is their product,which they laid, as they don’t know the impact is a COMPLETELY FLAT LAWN, with the grass going in all different directions so it looks like cheap crap I could have got at a much lower price. I did seek legal advice but the solicitor said the court would give the chance for Wonderlawn to correct the error before they would look at cash reimbursement for poor service. A) Wonderlawn have already told me the only thing will do is lift the lawn so someone else can fix the drainage, then they would put the lawn back down and would use their equipment to fluff the grass back up B) I do not want these cowboys anywhere near my garden again. I will take the financial hit and once I saved some cash will pay another company to do a proper job. Good luck to anyone who use this company.

I had artificial grass installed last year and recently found out few weeds growing through it and I contacted the head office who informed me that they don't cover weeds issue and not willing to help. I contacted Ian from Portsmouth Wonderlawn who took the initiative and he happily came back to sort the issue out and since then no weed issue. Would highly recommend Wonderlawn of Portsmouth for their hardwork and dedication.

Avoid avoid avoid! I had fake grass previously laid by another company for over two years no problem, we had a concrete base removed so needed the grass re doing. The company we had previously used had a 6 month waiting time so wonderlawn came and quoted and seemed very good. The two men who come and laid the grass weren’t the man who quoted. They arrived and used my skip to put all the rubbish they had on there van! I had bought a much bigger skip then they told me to as I had other bits I was going to put in there, they filled it a 1/3 full with all of there bits leaving no room at the end for my other stuff! The grass is very very un even, it’s not flat at all as the base layer they have put wasn’t flat! I have weed after weed coming through. I went for the more expensive and pet friendly grass and in fill and it absolutely stinks! I have called them out three times, the 1st time the man agreed with me and expressed his concerns that there is a problem with the grass and he would contact his head office and where they get the grass from, once he left and spoke to his manager he denied every saying this! They said I needed more pet fill so 6 more bags were laid and still the smell is horrendous! They came again and tried to make it flatter as my furniture rocks it’s that uneven and was told that it would never be super flat that’s impossible! They did pull it back and try to make it better but it’s still extremely bad. I have spoken to the head office numerous times who just say the same thing over and over! Even if they can fit you in quicker then another company or seems a better price there is always a reason for this! Terrible company terrible service and terrible customer service!

We have a dog and I chose Wonderlawn from the vast array of suppliers out there, as their build model puts the membrane at the base (so that dog urine does not pool between the lawn itself and the membrane if it's at the top), and with granite dust as the top layer instead of sand (as sand absorbs urine) for drainage under the turf. We also agreed that no sand would be used on the lawn as infill, but instead we would double up on the Pet Fill which is meant to help deal with dog-odours. As a result I believe we will have a low-maintenance and hopefully odour-free lawn for years to come!

Mark was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. He is polite and straight-forward, and certainly strives for a positive outcome overall. I was asked to pay a 50% deposit up front and the rest was due on completion. The job itself was done very quickly, tidily and the lawn looks great. Also in terms of price, Mark was extremely competitive, so he is definitely worth a call. I highly recommend Wonderlawn.

Great, would highly recommend wonderlawn to anyone, installation team worked extremely hard all day all rubble was removed the same day and the area was cleaned down. The grass is now much more suitable for my son to play on anytime, job well done, thank you.

I looked at many artificial grass suppliers before choosing wonderlawn. They are without doubt the highest quality, most professional company installing artificial grass out there today.

They installed it in a day (other companies quoted 2 to 5 days!). No mess left behind. My grass looks like a real lawn! I didn't think fake grass could look and feel this good.
