Avoid these people
Avoid these people! Whilst having agreed to sand and repair our flat's wood floor as well as in the communal areas of the mansion we live in (we kindly pushed for them vs. other firms), they have cancelled the jobs 5 days before starting, screwing all our plans with other tradesmen, the reason being that we refused to pay a 50% deposit ahead of the works. Whatever they will say, paying a 50% deposit upfront is unacceptable. I have never seen that in wood flooring nor in any other trade and other flooring companies don't ask for deposits or for just a few percentage points.
Whilst I proposed a lower deposit, they have insulted us and shown lack of respect, which is a definitive no go when you look for a professional tradesman who will do the house you and your family lives in.
Now I am sure they will respond to these comments and try to justify themselves and I won't reply as I don't care and just want to warn people. They have screwed our plans and we now need to find an alternative asap and postpone all our other tradesmen, which is very bad for us.
Plus, the person we spoke with speaks a very poor English and it is very hard to have a discussion.

Mr. Emmanuel contacted us on the phone and requested a view of the wooden floor and quote for the restoration of the wooden floor. We discussed very long what and how to do, after which we politely sent a quote. The quote is written in large letters that the method of payment is 50% advance before starting work and 50% after the completion of the job. We also explained that the rooms should be free of furniture to do the job well, but they did not have the opportunity and we agreed to work room by room. We have not changed the quote for this (this way of extending the working time).
A few days later, I was invited for one more visit (free) and asked for a quote for the common parts and for them to further process the floor after the sanding. We gave a quote for the common parts and there was a payment method recorded !!!! We received confirmation that they want to continue with my company.
Because we are very busy, two days ago I asked for a confirmation of a start date and a transfer of the deposit.
I have never offended Mr. Emmanuel! On the contrary, he began to bargain with me as if we were in the vegetable market. I said that the payment method was clearly written in the quote. I also said that in this situation we can not do the job because it does not comply with the negotiating conditions from the outset.
Why did not you say at the outset, Mr. Emmanuel, that these terms of payment are not acceptable to you?
You lost my time and I had to move other clients backwards!
After I canceled their order I was threatened with an online negative review !!!!
Mr. Emmanuel, that you have not read or not want to read the terms of payment and the general terms of the company do not make us a bad company.
