Applying what I learned, I got my first student in 8 days of joining

I joined Write Your Own Pass (WYOP) to start an online tutoring company to enhance my take home pay. With Jeremy’s help I was able to better use Social Media to promote my business. In this process I found my niche and realized that tutoring was not the direction my company needed to take. Jeremy help me realize that the homeschool community needed me to provide Chemistry instruction. I have now created a “Chemistry and the Bible” workshop series and a Mastering Chemistry for Homeschoolers. The Mastering Chemistry is taking off and will be offered at two different Cooperatives starting in August.

I joined WYOP in December seeking coaching and support as I committed to becoming a successful business owner. I work on my business full-time (40–50 hours a week) and am willing to troubleshoot, take risks, accept critical feedback, and learn new tech. I’m independently driven and proactive about asking for help when I need it. These aspects of WYOP work especially well for me:

• Asking lots of questions is encouraged. My questions help move me forward and help Evan and Jeremy understand where I need support.
• I attend as many coaching calls as possible (usually 2–4 per week, including tech calls), to get support and engage.
• The active communication on Slack helps me stay accountable and feel connected. Daily engagement translates into real progress on my business.
• The Skool training library provides helpful explanations and guidance and is often a quick way to learn about a specific topic without waiting for a coaching call.
• The individualized coaching format helps identify and address pain points specific to my situation.
• Evan’s review and feedback on my recorded sales calls has been one of the most valuable parts of the program.
• I’m grateful for Evan’s ability to understand my niche, which isn’t very mainstream. I initially worried this might be a challenge, but it hasn’t been at all.
• Jeremy has been extremely helpful with tech setup and often offers excellent sales advice if you ask! Power Tutor and Meta ads can be complex, but Jeremy has partnered with me as I learn to navigate them.

Whenever I have questions about parts of the program, Evan and Jeremy are always willing to explain their reasoning and offer clarity.

Using Write Your Own Pass is a great way to get the best guidance when starting your own tutoring business. Both Evan and Jeremy are very knowledgeable, encouraging, positive, friendly, helpful, and respond quickly to questions. They have ongoing workshops that are very helpful, especially in the beginning, plus they have all the getting-started steps laid out for you is in a simple and easy to follow format. Plus, the software programs they use are simple and helpful. I can recommend them enough!

I was always good at math in high school but never thought that I would someday help others with math issues. I love WYOP! Wow, it's a very reasonable price! Evan cares about all of us and is striving to offer suggestions to help us all with our business! Jeremy is going to go above and beyond and my collages the best marketing support and knowledge. If you want to get started with your tutoring business...this is the best route to take, as I have talked to quite and few and they did not offer success or reasonable rates for starting your own business from scratch. Not only in communication, but if you are willing to put in the work, by listening to their advice and trying to apply the information that success will come. Since I have started the process of "tutor mentoring" with WRITE YOUR OWN PASS I have noticed that Evan and Jeremy, have set up our training to always be included with someone else, so as to be accountable to the process. This is not only a protection for them as mentors, but it is a protection for us who are being mentored. The content of the meetings also is excellent and they are both willing to help in any reasonable capacity needed to train you to be better at time management, advertisement, website set up, client payment training, building community among tutors, and growing to a full business, not just a side job.
