Disgusting vets!
Shocking how abbey vets has changed so much in a short space of time. All about the money!! But whats worse is leaving a cat without vital heart medication. All because i asked for a paper prescription and they wouldnt do it without seeing her because they were losing money this way. Heartless money grabbing thieves!!
Disappointing
False advertising of free flea and wormer for kittens when purchasing the kitten vaccination pack - no where on the advert does it say this offer isn’t applicable to breeders. I even had a conversation when booking 7 kittens in and discussed the free flea and wormer and still wasn’t told that this was included for breeders. I paid in full at the time of booking and only after the vaccinations and asking at reception to take them with me I was informed the offer wasn’t for breeders. One of the reception staff said “well you won’t get vaccinations cheaper anywhere else” Well actually I will now I have to buy wormer and flea treatment separately!! Disappointing and will not use Abbey vets for future litters.
Very professional and personal service
Very professional and personal service. Did complicated surgery on length of our dogs spine when she suddenly became paralysed. Dog we walking day after surgery. Very good care and advice after wards. First class.
Disgraceful
Abbey Vets Durham.
Absolutely appalling practice. I'm the spokesperson for Save Our Bully's. A campaign to raise awareness on Breed Specific Legislation and challenge the discrimination shown towards bull breeds. Plus challenge the UK government on uk American XL Bully Ban.
We have a spay and neuter fund to help XL Bully owners pay for their surgery to spay and neuter their dogs as part of the conditions of exemption.
I called yesterday to pay a donation towards neutering costs for an owner getting her dog neutered here. Receptionist would not take payment and advised the practice manager was going to contact the owner after making a decision on this. The owner reached out to me later to say Abbey Vets will NOT accept our donation to help pay towards the neutering because we aren't a " registered charity ".
As she's struggling to get funds together for it so Our donation was going to help greatly she was incredibly disappointed. The owner is also disabled.
What type of vet practice refuses to take a donation to help an owner and their dog ? This one!! Owner is very distressed and is currently looking for another vets to register her dog with. Petty and spiteful behaviour from Abbey vets. What if someone has a friend or family member call to donate to a customer's pet's bill? Will that be refused too ? As not a " registered charity ". This vet practice has shown a complete lack of empathy for their client with their dog being neutered and shown total disregard plus disrespect to a campaign made up with people who are working relentlessly to support owners and their dogs during these very difficult times. We are in a cost of living crisis aswell as the added financial and emotional burden of now owning a banned breed. Many people through no fault of their own are facing hardships and doing their very best to care for their pets. Even when help is offered financially to ease the burden Abbey Vets refused the donation. Disgraceful.

As a family took our elderly dog for a ‘professionals’ opinion, chose local (Deepcar, Sheffield) as he hates traveling.
Vets IME & O delusional, pontificating preaching of no help whatsoever, we barely got a word in, he did not listen.
Reaffirmed why we usually travel further afield. Such a shame as we’ve found all other staff at Abbey wonderful including Barnsley & the very missed Andrew who was with Deepcar years ago.
Awful experience, will not visit again whilst ever this vet is present.
Abbey vets Grimsby DO NOT USE!
Took my dog i just got from romania she had a patella luxation ( kneecap coming away ). they charged me £3850 ! All inclusive 2 weeks later she ran on it and was limping. So i rang them up for a checkup and they charged me £40 i thought ok its an extra, then checked her knee and said the knee is in place. So i left and she still limping i rang up and asked to bring forward her aftercare xray that was included in the price, they said they could do the xray for an extra £340 ! I said you said it was included, they said it was a mis-communication!! I was upset and rang up the receptionist said she will talk to someone in charge and get back to me guess what they didnt.
So i took her to another vet for second opinion, so glad i did her knee was out of place so that checkup the other vet done was a misdiagnosis! Dont take your pet there! They just fleece you for money they kept her in for 3 nights after op which wasnt needed. I had the new vet who is great he had to redo the operation so i had to pay out again but the new vet was cheaper the new vet charged me £2664, so about £1200 difference.
And the new vet did a better job abbeyvets didnt do a thorough job which was cut out some bone for the kneecap to sit in which wasnt done the new vet did this and used a thinner wire which was more suitable and kept the intergrity of the bone better. DO NOT USE ABBEY VETS GRIMSBY! They are also a chain which isnt normally good. the new vet i use now is Wolds vet. Much better thankyou Wolds vet.
Thank you to Katerina in grey Abbey…
Thank you to Katerina in grey Abbey vets for helping little Leo,I wrote a comment after what I thought I heard but it was a bit of miscommunication translated over pricing and I'm happy with the level of care shown by staff and front of desk...
Wanted a 7 year old Pomeranian dogs…
Wanted a 7 year old Pomeranian dogs teeth cleaning, given a price of £140, then told I had to pay another £40 to see the vet first. paid to see vet, this was nothing but an opportunity for the usual big sell.
It went from a quick descale to the "potential" for teeth extracting, anibiotics, Intavenous fluids, Pre descale ops inc bi col (blood tests), they kindly gave £30 discount with a new price of £520 in total.
Bizarre really isn't it, I went to the dentist 2 days ago for check up/consultation and had a descale/polish and it cost me £25.80 in total, I didn't need to have any blood tests or an I/V drip etc and I didn't have to pay £40 for the privilege of someone to tell me what I already knew, total rip off.
Utter thieves and clearly not animal lovers just a greedy money making scam.............Leave well alone.
Abbey Vets Barnsley
Very disappointed with this vets booked for pregnancy scan to be told we were not able to go with the pet to see the scan, so cancelled the appointment. I cant see why owners can't go with their pets for a pregnancy scan, . There should be a notice to inform pet owners or inform pet owners that you cant go with your vet. Other vets should have scanners i was so annoyed!
Joke
Took my boy for a health check in the advice of them auto txt message was in out less than two minutes jab out my boy was taken to the groomer 2 days later he had fleas £66 the first time an xtra £31 at groomers well it still went on took him back 4 weeks later and they don’t give two hoots £33 to speak to a vet or £43 if you need to see one? Really I’m sick with worry care ???? They don’t give two hoots it’s all £££££££££ this used to be the best vet out there I’m going back to the vet in my own area been told that they were took over by a group that sounds about right BEWARE
Can't say enough to praise Caterina
Can't say enough to praise Caterina. We have dealt with her, caring for two of our pets. Very compassionate, honest and understanding. She name us at ease and I can't thank her enough!

NEVER HAD A WORSE EXPERIENCE WITH A VETS BEFORE!!!
The service is absolutely shocking including the receptionist!! disgusting attitude towards animals!! Also TINA VERNON discriminated against certain breeds of dogs. Time and time again we were ignored, also lie on records. warning everyone stay well away from here.ABBEY VETS FORFAR!!!!
Left these people feeling traumatised…
Left these people feeling traumatised and them feeling aggrieved that they couldn't squeeze any more money out of me. Zero compassion and an unbelievable excessive fee for a very poor service. Beware of this vetenary practice. Shocking
Excessive fees with no results
Our dog developed a problem with her ear so we booked an appointment which we had on a Monday as they had no appointments available on the Friday. So after waiting the weekend, we took our dog up to the vets and explained what the dog was experiencing with her ear. After 15 minutes with the vet, the vet informed us that the dog didn’t have ear mites as she was on a monthly vets plan which includes worn and flea treatment. The vet explained that the monthly treatment would ensure the dog would have no ear mites. The vet explained that the dog had a lot of ear hair which she had tried to pluck out. As the dog was not enjoying the experience the vet stopped the hair plucking. The options left available was to try an ear wash which we were advised to buy online as it’s cheaper ( fair comment). If the ear wash did not work, the dog would need to be sedated at a cost of £137 and the ear hair removed in order to see if there was another problem such as grass seed etc lower in the ear. So, for 15 minutes work by the vet, we were charged £55 for our dog visit with the problem not resolved. After taking the dog home, and further £18 for an ear wash from Amazon, we await an outcome. I believe that £55 to not fix the problem and with us having to pay an additional £18 for ear wash is an expensive visit to the vet. To make it worse, if the ear wash does not work, it will be another £137 to go back to the vet and any other treatment cost after the sedated ear pluck. I believe this is a bit excessive for a vet visit with no result.
Abbey - High Green
Absolutely appalling vets who care about your money and nothing else. Avoid these scammers and go elsewhere.
I only use them as the best vets in…
I only use them as the best vets in Abergavenny (Riverside) have a multi-year waiting list. The staff are always grumpy, you never see the same vet, all they seem to care about is making money. Their monthly payment plan seems a rip off and now requires quarterly "health checks" in person before they issue flea/worming tablets. Apparently this is a Vet Council "thing" they have to comply with - but they gave no prior warning and personally I think this is a ploy to drive yet more evenue from hard-pressed owners
Crazy costs.
Astonishingly bad. The costs of accessing this service are astronomical. For small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs the cost of a consultation was £48. People simply don't have this kind of money. It discourages people using vets when necessary especially children. I get that medication comes with a cost but a consultation only at £48. The vet must have been on around £10 per minute. Totally unreasonable and you could tell that the desk staff were embarrassed to even ask. They also told me to go in for this check up which we assumed would have been free of charge. Be under no Illusion. Their main aim is to raise revenue and this unfortunately includes promoting the unnecessary trips and stress such as what we had this week.
Abbey Vet's High Green
Abbey vet's High Green only care about money, I rang to my kittens vaccinated and spayed when they 9 weeks old the appointment should of yesterday for the vaccinations, they are 13 weeks now. They couldn't book them in for neutering until December when their 20 weeks old.I should of been concerned with the wait to get them seen and the fact they insisted on taking a deposit but they had been recommended by a friend. Unfortunately I got delayed and couldn't make it on time so rang and was told they would cancel both appointments and charge me 25 pounds. I said I could make the second but was told it was a joint appointment and I couldn't attend it. Basically I've rang today and I've been charged 50 pounds and I can't rebook the vaccinations for another 3 weeks. Needless to say I'm not happy, I rang another vet's and I'm booked in for vaccinations on Saturday and for neutering in 2 weeks. Don't waste your money or risk your pets with people that just don't care.
A thank uou
I went to Abbey cudworth on 18th September after going to a different vet for my cat twice over the previous 2 weeks . Id just like to say that the receptionist and the vet were both absolutely fantastic. Although unfortunately my cat couldn't be saved . They treated me and my cat with compassion and dignity . Something that couldn't be said for the vet I saw previous. Id like to thank them for what they did and how things was handled
