Unsatisfactory complaints procedure. very expensive for what was done!
I requested guttering replacement with full uPVC. charged me over £2000
I subsequently discovered that he had only cladded over rotten fascia timbers instead of replacing fascia and soffit.(about £150 materials)
2. consequently, gutter no longer reaches roof edge due to over-cladding, no eaves carrier installed so water runs down walls behind fascia. (another cost saving to him but an essential part of the job)
3. guttering sprung 3 gaps in 2 years.(fixed each time)
4. charged for scaffolding and skip he didn't use.(another saving for him, but charge to me) 2 "lads worked from ladders. took 1.5 days (about £400?)
5."replaced" mortar around flashings, charged £100 +VAT as a "favour" -crumbled out after 2 spring/summer months.
6. tried to make sure I wasn't on site to see work done by starting 2 days before arranged-I arrived to see job finishing so hadn't witnessed what was done and how)
NHBC and CORC both concluded that work was substandard based on photographic evidence.
Argued incessantly over quotation terminology over 2 years rather than simply put a small job right that would cost him a few hundred pounds. All my complaints about the works brushed off as I am "not an expert" yet refused to accept expert opinion of other roofers (apparently just trying to make work for themselves and conning me),
NHBC-apparently not relevant as they "are not roofing specialists" confederation of master roofers- also told me the work was sub standard, accused me of fabricating their technical advice.
Then finally, said he would only accept the opinion of a RICS surveyor. When I told him I had one, he would only agree to a survey that he could influence by being physically present and he be allowed to limit the scope.
I found another complaint about him on line. The person who eventually settled out of court with me from Alpha, retaliated by saying that person was trying to blackmail him into getting free work done. He has said a similar thing to me.
When other roofers in the area find out who's work they are quoting to correct, they back off. When I asked why, one other roofer recommended I google his name to see who I was dealing with. It was illuminating.

I feel i should give a response to Mrs Whites review. She was caught fabricating CORCs emails and threatened with prosecution for fraud and tried to blackmail us into carry out unpaid work which set the whole dispute. We like to think that the 40 reviews on Google, 190+ on checkatrade https://www.checkatrade.com/AlphaRoofing/Reviews.aspx and countless others on other sites put Mrs White review in doubtful light but we realise how important reviews are. We refused her demands to complete renew.
