Great customer service

I did not receive my item from a week after ordering it but on contacting Alpkit customer support the team were very helpful, giving me options to resend or take a full refund. Replies were quick and the issue was sorted within minutes.

This is partly why I choose Alpkit over other brands as the products are not only exceptionally well thought out and high quality - you also feel a personal touch whenever you’re shopping or dealing with Alpkit.

Customer service like it should be done.

I carelessly damaged a component on my Sonder bike while doing some basic maintenance. Checked Alpkit website and these parts not shown. Looked around the market and could not find elsewhere with the exact dimensions. Last resort - Alpkit's chat function.
7 minutes later - response by email - confirmed in stock (at about half the price I expected). Double checked the sizing and ordered same day. Based on past experience I know it will be here without fail in a couple of days. Brilliant Alpkit (As usual !)

Walking poles

Poles I ordered arrived quickly -courier delivered to the wrong address but Alpkit swiftly sorted out a replacement which arrived no problem.
Happy with poles but not used them because they are a gift.

Bought my bike at the Kingston store

I bought my bike at Alpkit Kingston. The times I've been there they've proven to be extremely helpful and well informed. Plus the company has a good ethos. The bike has proven excellent value for money, a view shared by London's bike thieves, who have repeatedly attempted to steal it. If you get a Sonder, make sure your bike lock and parking habits do it justice...

I have been watching some non expert bike thievery on GCN where they take and angle grinder and try to steal a bike.

It's 30sec, without the best of locks.

Had a coat repaired

Had a coat repaired through their postal service. Everything was quick, simple and easy. The repair was brilliantly done and they refunded £10, needing to use only one patch.

A great, no hassle service that I’d use again and have already recommended to friends.

One of the best retail experiences i have ever had!

I am struggling to think of a better retail experience to be honest! I visited the Alpkit shop in Edinburgh a couple of times in the run up to placing a cycle to work order. On both occasions service was outstanding. Special shout out to Ross who was so patient, provided great advice, facilitated me trying some bikes and went through multiple options. All was focused on getting what was right for me and my budget. (apologies to the first person i met on my initial visit, i didn't get your name) You can just tell that the staff care about the products and their customers. It was a fun shop to be in even if not buying anything. In a world where we do so much online the in-person experience was so additive. Contact post order has been great and now I am looking forward to receiving my bike. Thanks Alpkit, you are doing a lot right, keep doing that!

Waiting a week for a delivery

Waiting a week for a delivery, they use Evri, so of course my order is no where to be seen. When I called up to see what is happening I was told that they can't get a response from Evri for 24 hours, so that will be next week then. And who bets the answer from Evri will be "it's at the depot awaiting delivery " Totally useless customer service by Alpkit. Why use a delivery company that they themselves can't get hold of for at least 24 hrs?

I have written many times how our service is only as good as the partners we use.

In my experience there is no gold standard for couriers, they differ in standards across the country and depending on your local depot. We have tracked the performance of every courier that we have used and not one offers 100% guarantee, meaning every courier company has lost, stolen or delayed parcels.

There is an important point that we constantly remind ourselves about is that a very small proportion of alpkit orders that may have a delivery problem is still a big probelm for that customer that is affected.

We do look to other companies that have great reputations so when John Lewis are using Evri we think this a good benchmark. Evri have made some real operational changes so they should be on our list to consider.

We are looking very carefully at their performance and your order is one instance that we will look at in determining whether we continue using them.

This is customer care as it should be. My dealings with Alpkit over the last 5 years have been totally consistent and really you can't ask more of them. I visited one of their shops with my family and left an items we'd actually bought else where and when we arrived home (300 miles away) contacted them and they arranged to send it on to us.
Just recently I had an issue with a well used product and their email response was quick and personable.

Brilliant experience with Alpkit

Had a brilliant experience with Alpkit. I ordered 2 of their Elan Hooped Bivvies and 2 Hunka XL bivvy bags for myself and a friend. We have yet to use them, although we are excited to do so, but the quality looks and feels great and we are very happy with the products.

I'm writing this review mainly about the customer service, as my experience has been fantastic. I emailed regarding these products whilst they were on sale as I had a bunch of questions and the team was amazing, answered everything for me promptly and where I took so long with all of my questions the items on sale actually ended, but as I only missed it by literally half an hour the team kindly honoured the sale price for me.

Highly recommend these guys - we were recommended them by a friend who has been using their gear for years.

Prompt response to query on excessive postage costs

Looked like a great replacement fleece at £60 but at £12 P&P way too expensive (that’s 20% of the cost)

Found an alternative at same price with free postage elsewhere.

Weatherproof Bag not Weatherproof. They won't refund me!

Bought a Koala 13L "Weatherproof" Saddle Pack. Wen't on a ride with it. During the ride we had light rain for about 8-10 mins. Got to the hotel. Clothes inside were soaking. Not Weatherproof.
Sent back for a refund. They're refusing to refund the whole amount as they say it's Weatherproof not Waterproof. Rain IS Weather! I didn't expect to ride underwater with it.
They said they didn't tape the seams. Fine. Then it not resistant to rain or spray from the tyre then is it. So it's not Weatherproof. So don't sell is as that. Simple.
Probably end up in small claims.

AVOID !!

Thank for the review, the construction of the Koala is pretty much like every rucksack made since the 80s. Some form of waterproof nylon/polyester fabric in the case 1000d Cordura and then bound but not taped seams making it weatherproof, but not waterproof. It's reasonable to expect that this bag would keep your items dry from the weather your describe longer then 8-10mins.

Heavy rain say for an hour then you would have to consider a waterproof bag. I believe our products behave exactly as expected and well within industry norms.

We have listed the item online with the following information to help best direct the right choice.

Dry bag protection

"With fully waterproof outer materials, it's highly water-resistant, protecting your bits and bobs in bad weather. The stitching isn’t seam-taped though, so we’d always recommend wrapping any electronics in a dry bag. The Airlok Tapered dry bag also fits neatly inside for a fully waterproof setup."

Tent spare part

I emailed the team from the online website and they replied quickly and helpfully. I wanted to buy an additional section for my alpkit tent. So they hunted around the warehouse for a spare one, sent me a payment link, and have posted it directly to me. The ease and service levels couldn't have been better. Great camping gear and even better customer service

I have purchased a lightweight tent (Ordos 2) and cloud nine sleeping bag. Would recommend both to anyone thinking of purchasing.
I had some damaged in transit to a tent pole and they repaired and sent back with no issues.

Best customer service and products

Ordered a pair of Kruger sunglasses. Really nice piece of kit, great field of view, look good, and interchangeable lenses for different lighting conditions.

Also super affordable compared to similar sport sunglasses brands.

The frame snapped unexpectedly. I emailed customer service with pics and they sent out a replacement with no fuss. (Spoke to Brendan who was great). Superb customer service and will definitely buy from them again.

Great kit and top notch customer service! …

I've used alpkit for a number of purchases. Their equipment is good quality and great value. What makes them top notch is their after sales team.
I had an issue with a missing lid from my brukit and Brendan from their team dealt with it superbly. Within a couple of days of my first email with him my issue was resolved. He went above and beyond to help me. Perfect!

Been my absolute ‘go to’ company for 10 years.

Been my absolute ‘go to’ company for 10 years now on all my outdoor kit (I need all
quality gear for ultra marathons like Spine Races first port and winter adventures).

Perfect balance between quality and value for money - not found better elsewhere. Superb customer service on few occasions needed it hence I am reviewing today as had minor query on delayed order sent in via enquiry form and within minutes Brendan had sorted.

The shops are dangerous - mostly buy online but when visit their stores always buy something hadn’t intended to.

Excellent jacket and very impressive customer care, with rapid responses to emails about exchanging for a different size - not an automated answer but one which demonstrates their commitment to making purchase and exchange a good experience for the individual. I’m very happy with the jacket itself - family experience of Alpkit has been highly complimentary of the make and I’m relishing having one I can trust for days walking in Lake District and Scottish rain.
