People are friendly, but I had to go in person to answer some questions that were already answered on the phone, just to be rejected help, even though I'm a veteran at risk of homelessness. They also promised to send me more resources to help with my situation, but I haven't received anything. If they can't help me at my lowest point, then I dunno what would qualify me, as they were very vague. I would only recommend going if you are homeless and about to die. I imagine that may be the only way to get approved for assistance.

In April 2024, I was accepted into the Homeless Veterans Program at the Alston Wilkes Society in Greenville, South Carolina, and applied for the HUD-VASH Program through the Veterans Administration. Alston Wilkes provides Transitional Housing to veterans for up to 2 years, and HUD-VASH provides Housing Choice Vouchers with case management. After my entry into the program, I later learned that my HUD-VASH application was never submitted to the VA by my Case Manager, Arjun Gaikwad. I informed HUD-VASH Supervisor, Sherry Martell, of the matter via email and requested a copy of my case file. Days later, I was discharged from the program in November 2024, the day after Veterans Day, for "sending emails". I had no disciplinary issues whatsoever, and, initially, I had been the ONLY veteran gainfully employed since my third week in the program. This should serve as a warning to homeless veterans considering the Alston Wilkes Society as an option. Now it's MY turn! I have a trick for that!
