A terrible experience selling our boat…

A terrible experience selling our boat in Lymington. Staff very rude and keen to sell at any price as long as they get their commission.i would avoid and find a broker who acts on behalf of the seller.

Worst experience ever

We bought a boat with them in spain.
We have pictures of the boat when We bought it.
But after the transport to our harbour in the netherlands We were shocked .
The lock on the door was forced and broken they tied it up with a rope.
One of the engines won 't Come down the interior and wood on the floor was damaged and there were leaves and mudd on the floor.
There were problems with the batteries .
And when the boat has arrived on the truck everything was filmed by a camera on the harbour .
When i confronted ancasta they only said that the chauffeur has also seen the damage ....so they admit that there was something wrong but i never heard from them and now the coast from more than 30 000 euro's are all for us
I think for selling your boat they are reliabel but do not buy a boat there .

I have just sold a yacht through…

I have just sold a yacht through Ancasta Dartmouth.30/11/2023
Before deciding to market the yacht, they advised on the process, paperwork required, tax implications ref Vat, potential values of the boat.
Based on this we decided to sell the boat at the end of the season.
They produced a comprehensive sales brochure which was circulated within the group.
We recieved an offer two weeks later and completed four weeks after that.
All this was overseen by Nick Bishop of their Dartmouth Office, a definite 5 star service--impressive!!

Insulted! Poor service

We've just been to Southampton Boat Show today, looking around and spotted the Ancasta Lagoon 46 & 51. Me & my family joined the queue which started building up behind us. After 20 minutes waiting, a female staff (long, blond, curly hair) told all of us that the viewing is for LEASE OR PURCHASE CUSTOMERS ONLY at the time (12noon) & told us to come back by 4 or 5pm when it's nearly closing time. We felt insulted & absolutely unhappy. We were serious and interested customers but with the service like that, they're lost few sales there. Would be better if they brief the staff properly. Boat show charges entry tickets which should allow ALL spectators to see & view every single boat and should be first come, first serve! SHOULDN'T BE...LOOKING SMART, WALLET FAT, first serve!

Excellent Ancasta Lymington Experience….

Recently sold my motor yacht using the team at Lymington Ancasta Brokerage. I’ve had an excellent experience from start to finish. Given the distance I live from Lymington, the team (James, Charles & Tracey), took great care to help with the presentation of the boat for photography and viewings. Ancasta facilitated a smooth selling process with great communication throughout and helped co-ordinate with Ropewalk (Volvo dealer) a few repairs which the survey highlighted needed doing. Delighted with service and would highly recommend the team at Lymington.

Stay away from this company.

Stay away from this company.
Boat purchases are for pleasure and enjoyment, and if you want to experience this do not purchase from Ancasta.
Very pleasant on day and nice guys, but should be really when boat value is 2 million.
I paid £10,000 to hold price on show day.
The sales guys got dates wrong from when I said I’d be ready for 1st deposit payment, to be told ‘don’t worry we are very flexible company and like to become friends with our clients’ .
8 weeks before 1st deposit was due I started receiving, text messages, phone calls, voicemails, emails, I’m surprised a carrier pigeon didn’t turn up with a message… nearly 20 different communications between the date it started and date actual deposit was due.
They had made mine and my families amazing purchase feel like a debt looming over us, that it wasn’t a treat or a pleasure purchase, but a debt I had built up and was being chased for before it was due.
After speaking to other friends who also had experience buying boats, other brokers I know… one being the guy who sent me to Ancasta, I made the difficult decision to cancel order and now look elsewhere for a boat.
When emailing my cancellation and reasons, I again got emails, phone calls and voicemails I have saved, trying to save the deal and apologising. They even made calls to my broker who recommended them to offer a Williams tender as apology.
I told them it wasn’t about money, it was the principal that mine and my families experience buying this boat had been ruined on this occasion and that I was taking the business elsewhere.
So I asked for the £10,000 back as loss of sale was a result of poor service and bad experience.
This then resulted in a less pleasant email reminding me I had signed a contract and that they will seek legal action.
I had responded that I’m happy to go legal as I have a lot of proof in text messages and saved voicemails apologising, this accepting blame for poor experience.
Still I don’t have my £10,000 which makes me feel they needed the sale and money more than correcting the mistake.
This matter is unresolved still and will continue….

Poor service - I only want to buy a boat you're advertising!

Been trying to arrange a viewing on a boat in Poole for 3 weeks!!!

Not sure what the gig is but literally no one from Ancasta is available to show me the boat! Today I was advised that I can view this Sunday afternoon (11/09) or not until after the Southampton Boat show, that's another two weeks.

How hard are you actually working to earn your commission Ancasta?

I cannot imagine the owners will be very impressed with your lack of effort!

Decent to deal with, remember they work for the vendor

Was looking to buy a yacht, and Ancasta Lymington had one that on sight fit the bill--right length, style and budget. I've owned yachts but am no expert, so took someone more experienced with me for one of my viewings. Given they must get a fair few 'keel-kickers,' and I was lowish end of the market, it wasn't red carpet service, but Ancasta was fine arranging viewings etc.

Had a good few question marks after viewings, and made an offer subject to survey and engineer's inspection. This was accepted and I paid a 10% deposit, which they said they needed prior to survey. Not sure I see why exactly, but OK.

The survey confirmed my doubts and added a few more, so I decided to pull out. Ancasta, reasonably, asked why, so I sent a brief outline email. According to the letter of the contract, I think they could've demanded to see the surveyor's report with my rejection, but didn't.

They then returned my deposit very promptly, and asked politely if I could cut and paste the relevant sections of the survey to assist the vendor, who was aware of some of the problems. NB, the yacht wasn't a basket case, but did need fairly extensive and labour-intensive work, which was beyond my capabilities and budget. I decided to send them the full survey report as a courtesy.

So I was able to get out of the deal and continue my search with minimal delay, only incurring the cost of the survey, which was money well spent.

I would use Ancasta again.

Over and Above....

I have recently completed the sale of my catamaran through Ancasta at Port Hamble and would like to say how pleased I have been with the Professionalism and service that Both Tim and Charles have shown in brokering the deal. The deal started and completed during the Coronavirus Lockdown and has been difficult due to the purchaser living in France.
Ancasta went well beyond the norm to keep it all going with live video views and getting a survey done and even managed to find a French delivery crew to get the boat over to France from the Uk to complete the sale.

Three stars is generous

Would have given them one star but helped when we had a problem with a dodgy engineer trying to milk us with work that didn't need doing and work paid for but not done. As for Ancaster (Lymington), as soon as we put our boat up for sale and signed the documents they said "you'll never sell it for that. Misspelt name of boat. Used stock photograph instead of the real boat, told us we should include out boat in the Southampton boat show, we agreed and that should contact us when the entry was due. They contacted us to say all the berths were sold out and we could dislay the boat on stilts, a 20 minute drive away from the show. Desciption of boat they wrote was not inviting. Kept telling us the engines hours were too high. They were, we knew this, but that's all they concentrated on the entire time it was for sale. Took six months to sell, to the first person that took it for a trial. Owner has bad attitude. Also tried to overcharge us on commission. 8% insteat of 7%. Prove it they said. We sent proof and they reduced the invoice.
