Decent to deal with, remember they work for the vendor
Was looking to buy a yacht, and Ancasta Lymington had one that on sight fit the bill--right length, style and budget. I've owned yachts but am no expert, so took someone more experienced with me for one of my viewings. Given they must get a fair few 'keel-kickers,' and I was lowish end of the market, it wasn't red carpet service, but Ancasta was fine arranging viewings etc.
Had a good few question marks after viewings, and made an offer subject to survey and engineer's inspection. This was accepted and I paid a 10% deposit, which they said they needed prior to survey. Not sure I see why exactly, but OK.
The survey confirmed my doubts and added a few more, so I decided to pull out. Ancasta, reasonably, asked why, so I sent a brief outline email. According to the letter of the contract, I think they could've demanded to see the surveyor's report with my rejection, but didn't.
They then returned my deposit very promptly, and asked politely if I could cut and paste the relevant sections of the survey to assist the vendor, who was aware of some of the problems. NB, the yacht wasn't a basket case, but did need fairly extensive and labour-intensive work, which was beyond my capabilities and budget. I decided to send them the full survey report as a courtesy.
So I was able to get out of the deal and continue my search with minimal delay, only incurring the cost of the survey, which was money well spent.
I would use Ancasta again.
