I have used Clerksroom twice and both times been completely satisfied with the service provided by Sam Morgan. He booked Andew McKie, who provided exactly what I needed the first time and, when I needed help again at short notice and Andrew was unavailable, Sam worked over the weekend to find someone for me. That someone was Barry Cawsey, who stepped in at the last moment and was marvellous. The pricing is clear and transparent and the service is excellent, so if you are litigating or thinking of doing so, I would say you can stop looking now and just call them.

I must have been the unlucky one here.
I paid £360, for a barrister to give advice. This person did not read any of the documentation I sent before the call, instead reading it off the cuff during the call. As a result, the barrister had no real grasp of the issues, prior to the call, as I expected. I didn’t appreciate this at all. The casual attitude to situations that are life and death to us ‘normal’ people does sometimes not penetrate the cold, clinical and often offhand attitude of barristers. They are like the surgeons of the legal system and sometimes extremely insensitive. They also seem to share a similar God complex.
I have experienced two, who have not given the best advice and have been entirely negative about everything. If they don’t know something, they will not spend time finding out, because time is money. What’s the point in having all these great laws if access to them is so limited?
I think it is very unprofessional and impolite to arrive on a call, not having read the material. I am on Universal Credit and this was an important call and an investment for me. For the barrister in question, it was a quick twenty minutes, some more cash in the bank, and a casual grasp of the law as it concerned my issues.
As I said, perhaps I was just unlucky.

I suggest people to choose a proper barrister from a barrister’s chambers.

Cheap barristers from this company equate to not having anyone to represent you.

I used a barrister from this company on family matter in relation to my children contact case.

The Black/African female barrister they send was completely incompetent.

She did NOT even bother to read the case before the trial date

She was late for the trial hearing.

While she was driving on the motorway heading to the court, she was calling on her mobile & asking me to forward various key documents in relation to hearing (which was due in a few minutes ) for my children contact.

Bearing in mind all the documents she was asking were already sent to her few months earlier when she was instructed.

However, she didn’t bother to read any of those documents.

She asked me to create & submit my own position statement myself.

When she arrived in the court, because she had not read the case & she was not ready to do any cross examination of Cafcass employee as she was instructed to do. she simply went to a room within the court building & literally wrote down everything that Cafcass employee told her into a court order & agreed with everything.

So instead of exposing that Cafcass caseworker for writing a false report, she wrote everything she said.

That barrister failed to represent me as per her instructions.

That Barrister failed to defend me & my children.

AS A DIRECT RESULT OF FAILURE CAUSED BY THAT BARRISTER I LOST MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN.

I wouldn’t even give Clerksroom direct any stars. It seems to be a similar occurrence where the manager/deputy are rude, don’t like it when you point out that they are contradicting themselves.

I sent all my emails in & was advised a solicitor would contact me. Never did. The clerk then went on annual leave for 2 weeks.

Raised this & then suddenly deputy/manager got involved. Couldn’t find the emails. Asked me to resend them. Apparently their system is fine (where they can’t find documents).

I kept pointing out their so called system was NOT fine. They then withdrew their services. Raised a complaint which they admitted I was correct however reasons given were unbelievable. They are no different to the Post Office Scandal.

Please avoid them at all costs.

Wow! What Can I say Balahl Khan is an absolute legend!! I had an ongoing case for 2 years which i represented myself throughout, the case was drawn out for ages.
We finally got to the final hearing stage and I decided I needed a barrister a little last minute I know but I got in touch with Balhal through clerksroom direct and I’m so glad I did!!
Balhal was presented with a bundle with less than a week to read through that did not phase him one little bit!!
Balahl turned up on the day of the hearing as agreed he was absolutely loaded with evidence and knowledge of the bundle which he completely dominated the courtroom with and finally got the result we wanted and the best result for my Son, not only did we get what we went there for we in fact got more!!
I can not recommend this man enough!!

After 2 court dates being adjourned and 18 months of stress and anxiety, it was a relief to meet and be represented by Ian Skeate. Ian’s calm and assured mannerism put us both at ease as we attended the court. Throughout discussions Ian kept us informed, explaining the legal technicalities as the case progressed. Ian informed us that we had a successful Appeal and even fought for our costs, resulting in the court awarding 100% costs. We would not hesitate to recommend Ian Skeate and Direct Barristers.

The Deputy Manager of the Clerksroom Direct Team was really rude to me. He told me to merge my documents to help the barrister review them and ultimately make the quote cheaper. I wasted over 2 weeks of my time merging my documents into the format that he requested so that it was easier for the barrister. Upon receipt, the quote doubled! When I challenged it, he said I should have given him advanced notice of how much paperwork I had and that it is unprecedented that it took me so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUDE!

I found myself completely out of my depth and facing a court hearing I didn't know anything about and a potential massive costs order for trying to deal with as litigant in person. That was advised on me Monday afternoon.
I did panic and go to Clerksroom direct. They managed to secure representation for me for the following day. We did have a meeting beforehand also. Pauline Lewis did an excellent job for me as Counsel. I was in a mess, she was professional and very efficient. When the other side tried winding me up and making things difficult, she took them aside and sorted them out to settle the case outside court to my great relief.
She would not have been able to do that if she did not have good powers of listening, understanding, of law, of communication, and a nice person. Clerksroom provided a very good service to me and were able to source a range of Barristers, and that's is the main objective of using this service. Its frankly good value compared to using a solicitor which in my case only complicated the issue(s). My advocate Mr Razak was excellent, he knew how to approach the matter and importantly his law experience and knowledge around the UK's judicial system was second to none in my case. Preparing for a case outcome is never sealed. My advocate put forward a robust case nonetheless. I would recommend this barrister and the service.
