Very Disappointed
Very Disappointed – Unfair 20% Deduction and No Support
We bought a bed frame and two mattresses from Benson for Beds (Tamworth). Delivery team couldn't bring the bed frame upstairs, so we accepted a refund.
But then we were told a 20% admin fee would be deducted — a policy that was never explained at purchase. We had no choice but to accept it.
As newcomers to the UK with limited English, we didn’t understand all the details, and the store gave us no real help. Calls to customer service went unanswered, and emails took over a week to get any reply.
This whole process was exhausting. We just wanted to buy a bed — it became a
nightmare.
Be careful, especially if you're not fluent in English. Ask about every fee before you pay.

Tamworth Store - Recognition for Shirley
Shirley at the Tamworth store deserves recognition for her knowledge, professionalism, and, most importantly, her ability to really listen to what a customer wants, rather than just pushing what’s “trending.”
I was specifically looking for a traditional pocket sprung mattress with natural materials like wool, I definitely did not want memory foam, which other retailers seem intent on telling me I should have! Shirley completely understood my preferences.
Having bought from Bensons for Beds over a decade ago, I decided to return, albeit this is a different branch, as the previous one no longer exists. I’m so glad I did. The special offer made it possible for me to choose the mattress I really wanted, something that would otherwise have been out of financial reach.
Despite managing that large store entirely on her own, Shirley was calm, methodical, and attentive. I never felt rushed or pressured.
With a background in sales and customer service myself, I value that 'good old-fashioned' service approach, and that’s exactly what Shirley delivered.

Great showroom with welcoming staff
Great showroom with welcoming staff. Was able to look & try equipment & then assisted with knowledgeable staff member when requested. Sale of product was made easy however was a little disappointed in waiting times for the product to be delivered 3 weeks for a mattress with is held in storage 30 minutes up the road to my address seems fairly accessible.

Great experience Chris helped me with what I’m hoping will be the best bed I’ve ever owned I thought I needed a soft bed due to my back and hip issues but he showed me a firm mattress and it felt so comfortable the best in the store

All in all, a good experience!
The store was clean and welcoming. The sales lady Sharon was very pleasant and helpful but we did not feel rushed into making a purchase and were able to take our time before reaching a decision.
