Swimming after 17 years

I've only been to the swimming pool at the moment. It is a bit colder than expected but fine once you completely get wet. I like the separate lanes to allow for different swimming abilities. Showers are ok but there needs to be more space for shampoo and items nearby. I have a GP referral but it still is expensive, so I make sure to swim at least 3 times a week to get my money worth

I first used this pool in the 1970's…

I first used this pool in the 1970's and wanted to go back with my wife. It's a shame the booking process via the app is so difficult when trying to book for two that I gave up.

We are sorry to hear that you had difficulty booking online. You are able to book in centre with a member of the concierge team if you are unable to complete your booking via the website/app.

When you do want to attend please speak with someone at reception and they can also offer support with how to book online.

I had real trouble trying to navigate the website its absolutely useless can't book anything kicks u out at the checkout however the customer servies when u ring are amazing so helpful and delilahs swim teacher is outstanding shes loving it thank u Delilahs grandma

The reception is wonderful

The reception is wonderful, the water is okay. However there is need to increase one to one engagement during swimming lessons as the trainer was attending to three persons at a go and I didn't get the best of attention.

Swimming Classes not great

Great first session, met at the door, given instructions. Friendly, welcoming, informative.
However after 3 sessions, I can’t say it’s impressive, you can tell a mile off that the swimming teachers don’t have their own children. Approx 8-10 children per class which is too large for 1 teacher to manage.
If any child is struggling they don’t stop them to help them correct technique just continue with the class. So much for updating the app with their progress when their classes are back to back. They did it for session 1 but not session 2 or 3. I won’t be continuing my direct debit. Disappointing after the initial welcome!

Great first swimming lesson for Luca

Great first swimming lesson for Luca. Excellent facilities and teachers.
The reception area of Yearsley Swimming pool is a bit confusing and crowded: it was not clear whether we needed to scan in or not, and there wasn’t anyone on reception on Sat morning at 10am.

1st lesson absolutely brilliant

1st lesson absolutely brilliant. Granddaughter learnt to put her face in water, using a noodle and the teacher working her legs, floating on her back with help, her confidence was building so much that with the help of the teacher she jumped into the pool twice!!!!! She was absolutely buzzing. 2nd lesson different teacher she learnt nothing spent 25 minutes of the 30 minute lesson hanging on to the side of the pool. The teacher dragged her across pool 3 times by her noodle while talking to the other children. Tried to speak to the guy on reception he didn’t seem interested. Very disappointed and a waste of money. 1 st week 3 in class, 2 nd week 4 in class. We will see what week 3 brings.

Spoke to duty manager John Paul what a lovely guy he went out of his way to genuinely apologise for last week’s shambles.He Spoke to the teacher for this week Rachel and another teacher Emily WOW they went out of their way to give and make up for last week’s shambles.not able to praise them enough. Thank you John and your lovely team for restoring our confidence.

I use the Yearsley pool in York. The staff are polite and helpful. Any problems with booking, the Better switchboard staff are really good and take tome to help.

KC is the instructor for her level

KC is the instructor for her level. He is very professional and engaging. The level of cleanliness of the facility is top notch, for a swimming area that always wet. The staff are well coordinated as well

Absolutely The Best -Love It!

Wish I’d discovered this place when I first came to York two years ago but better late than never! Yearsley Swimming pool is a joy to swim in with a friendly dedicated community and staff who are so grateful for this facility as am I, plus my regular swim here has done wonders for my back! I love the Better app too which makes it so easy to book and the monthly membership makes swimming daily before work totally affordable (£1 a day approx) I can’t even get a cup of coffee for that amount. This place brightens up my day. Brilliant value and experience.
