Great marketing, however you can't choose many of the sets until you've been a member for 3 months. And this is not disclosed at the outset. Even if you read the small print and realised you pay both subscription and £5 postage per set, the lack of clarity on the choice of sets should certainly be clearer. I won't continue my subscription, I won't be borrowing sets and I won't be recommending.
Brick Borrow know this is an issue and I'm sure will refer to the apprentice notes in the FAQ. But however you present this, the subscription page makes no reference to this and the feedback on this site shows it to be important. The only conclusion is that Brick Borrow is limiting transparency of an issue important to subscribers in a way that many feel is important. Key question is whether they actively do anything about it or continue to exploit the situation.
Edit following response: Brick Borrow know that the subscription page has no details of postage and that it's hidden in FAQ, but decide not to do anything about it. Brick Borrow also know that the minimum tenure for the better sets is also not clear on the subscription page and focus on "you choose the sets" despite unhappy subscribers, but still continue without making it clear. If these elements of the service are so integral and disliked by so many people, you can decide whether Brick Borrow is attempting to mislead or not. In short, they could make these elements clear and avoid misleading people, but despite such wide feedback, they choose not to. That says a lot about Brick Borrow.

Thanks for your feedback, although we do feel a few points here need clarifying.
We have thousands of sets available, and the majority are available to borrow immediately - the idea that you can’t choose “many” sets in the first 3 months simply isn’t accurate. The initial period only applies to a smaller number of the most in-demand sets.
This is also clearly outlined in our FAQs, along with how the service works more broadly. We always aim to be transparent so customers can decide if it’s right for them before subscribing.
In terms of postage, this is also stated upfront. In reality, the actual cost of shipping is higher than what customers pay, and we absorb a large part of that cost ourselves to keep our service as affordable as possible!
We appreciate it won’t be for everyone, but the service exists to give access to a huge range of sets in a flexible and cost-effective way - which is why it works well for so many of our members.
Sorry to hear it wasn’t the right fit for you.

Great idea, great company
I have been borrowing from Brick Borrow for the last 5 years and recommend them to anyone who enjoys Lego. Have been able to borrow several large sets that would have cost me hundreds. Sometimes you have to be patient and then on the ball for the more popular sets, but they are always adding new sets and getting multiples of the most popular ones. I had one issue with a missing piece, but they were very quick to respond and sent me a replacement within a day. Been very happy with their service, and I am looking forward to my next one arriving.

Brick Borrow is a great way to build Lego without having to spend hundreds of pounds buying sets. We’ve only been using them for a short while but have found their customer service excellent.
One word of warning - the sets do not come pre-sorted, so be prepared to spend some time sorting hundreds of pieces before you start building!!

Stuck with a subscription we no longer have any faith in
5 sets in to our subscription and 2 have been missing multiple parts. When I have complained about this I get the stock reply that they can send replacements for the parts but can offer no alternative resolution. What brick borrow fails to understand is that the onus shouldn't be on the customer to check the sets prior to building, it should be on them prior to sending. My 7 year old is frustrated and fed up of sets coming that he then can't complete.
I'm sure I'll get the standard copy and paste Brick borrow response thanking me for my review, apologising about the issues I've experienced then Lego shaming me by telling the world how much the sets we have had cost then saying it's their policy to replace the missing parts. Surely it's time to review the policies when so many people are having issues. They won't send an alternative set or cancel the subscription and give a refund for the remaining amount.

We’re sorry to hear this has been your experience, particularly as it’s impacted your son’s enjoyment - we know how frustrating that is.
All sets go through our returns process before being sent back out, but with a borrowing service and the volume moving through our library each day, missing pieces can occasionally happen. When they do, our policy is to send replacements quickly - usually next working day - so builds can be completed as soon as possible.
We appreciate your point around responsibility, but replacement parts is the resolution we offer in these situations and the one we’re able to act on fastest.
On the broader point, members typically access significantly more in set value than the cost of their subscription, but we understand that only matters if the experience meets expectations.
We hope you enjoy the remainder of your subscription.
Underwhelmed so far
I’ve had a membership for about 3 months now and borrowed two mid sized sets. Both sets have had multiple missing items. At the moment I am waiting for missing items to be mailed. Selection of sets available to borrow doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as extensive as implied on website and there are very few large size sets to borrow. Presumably premium sets are borrowed the most - but it’s up to brick borrow to ensure the available selection takes that into account. I love the concept of this service - but based on current level of experience - I’ll be looking to try a different provider once current subscription runs out.

We’re genuinely sorry to hear about the missing pieces in your recent builds. While our team checks and processes hundreds of sets every day, occasional parts can unfortunately slip through. That said, we completely understand how frustrating that can be, and we’re glad replacements are on the way. We’re also continuously improving our checking processes to reduce this as much as possible.
In terms of value, over a 3 month period most members are able to enjoy well over £100 worth of LEGO sets for around £30 in subscription fees.
On selection, we currently have thousands of sets in circulation, with over 750 sets returning to our library every single day. Popular and larger sets do get borrowed quickly, but we’re constantly investing in expanding the range and availability - especially at the premium end.
We’re really grateful you highlighted both what you like about the concept and where we need to do better. If there’s anything we can do to improve your experience before your subscription ends, we’d genuinely love the chance to put that right.

Seemed like a great idea
I found this site and thought it seemed like a great idea.
I had a look through the sets you could borrow and all said 'Borrow Now'.
I thought, why not as there were some that I really wanted to build but couldn't justify the £500+ for most of the sets.
I signed up and paid the £14.99 and in the section that is locked behind a subscription to pick the sets you'd like all of the ones I wanted were not available and a lot were borrow in 3 months time...
I found this to be misleading and should have more realtime or true availability in the browse sets before having to pay.
I've asked for a refund and awaiting the response.
Update: customer service was very fast at responding and have agreed to refund.

We do want to clarify a couple of points. We currently have over 1,000+ different sets across 65+ themes, and many members are actively borrowing multiple times per month - often building thousands of pounds’ worth of sets each year. So while some of the very high-demand sets can have wait times, there is typically a wide range of sets available to borrow at any given time.
The “Borrow Now” button reflects sets that are part of the catalogue and available within the service, but availability can change quickly depending on demand, particularly for larger or more popular sets. We’re continuing to invest heavily in stock and improve how availability is shown to make this clearer.
We do appreciate the feedback around visibility before subscribing, and it’s something we’re actively working on improving.

Lego without the commitment
The company offer a great product (Lego you can build, and then return to get new Lego rather than it sitting on your shelf), and are brilliantly responsive if you have any issues. Plenty of choice of sets to borrow, and definitely cheaper than buying new Lego every few weeks!

It’s a fantastic concept but unfortunately they have just taken on to many subscribers without the stock being available.
This has made the monthly cost and the waiting time to not be as efficient as it should be.
Hopefully when they have enough available stock for all then it might be worth it. We had the monthly builder plan for £14.99 for a whole year and had 5 seats in total. However most of those sets were forced and not ones we actually wanted but had to wait for bigger sets to become available. When we were emailed of their availability, it was out of stock within seconds so not worth the wait or the cost.

We do want to clarify a few points, as what you’ve described isn’t the experience for the vast majority of our members. A large number of members also borrow 3–4 times per month by returning sets and choosing new ones, so the service is being used very actively.
Availability can fluctuate on certain high-demand sets, especially when they first come back into stock, but there is a wide range of sets available across the platform at any one time. The intention is always to offer choice, rather than force selections.
We’re continually investing in increasing stock and improving availability, particularly on larger and more in-demand sets.
That said, we’re sorry to hear it didn’t work as expected for you, and we do genuinely appreciate the feedback.
Great for grandparents and grandchildren!
I have been a member of Brick Borrow for over a year know and built quite a few sets. I do buy lego as well, but Brick Borrow gives me the chance to build themes I would not normally buy. And my grandson also enjoys building with Grandpa! Definitely recommend to other Lego fans and grandparents.

Started off well but...
I joined Brickborrow just after last Christmas after hearing about it from my daughter, and it sounded such a great idea. I love Lego but larger sets are so expensive to buy and we have no storage space for them. I was initially a bit annoyed that the postage fee came as a surprise once I borrowed my first set. Lots of reviews complain about this but it is still not listed on the main sign-up page, only tucked away in the FAQ. First set arrived, 2 missing pieces but these were sent out quickly. After I sent the set back it took about 6-7 days for it to be turned around, my account to be 'released', choosing my next set and for it to be delivered. So in January/February I was able to get at least 3 sets per month which seemed like a good deal. Unfortunately the service has definitely slowed down since then, it now takes around 10-12 days between sending a set back and receiving the next, even if I choose immediately, so I'm lucky if I can fit in 2 sets per month. I have set up a favourites list (which annoyingly you can only do when you are eligible to borrow) and have almost 50 sets on it. This makes it much easier to see if a set I want is available to borrow. Sadly not one of them has been available this week and I've been checking frequently throughout the day. I really don't want to waste £5 getting a set with limited pieces intended for young children. Somehow it all started out well, and I still love the concept, but I'm not sure that they can now keep up with the demand.

We just wanted to address a few of the points you raised:
The postage fee is outlined in our FAQs and T&Cs, but we do take on board the feedback that it could be made clearer upfront - it’s something we’re actively reviewing.
We use Royal Mail Tracked 48, and once your set is received back with us, your account is typically reactivated within 24 hours of processing (which itself takes 1 working day). Timings can occasionally stretch slightly over weekends or during particularly busy periods.
You’re absolutely right that earlier on you were getting through 3 sets a month - which is fantastic value given many of our sets retail between £100–£500+. That’s always the experience we aim to deliver.
We did recently have a short-term slowdown while transitioning systems, which added a couple of days to processing times, but that has now been resolved.
In terms of availability, we have over 1,000 different sets in circulation and add 700+ sets back into availability every weekday. If you’re not already, we’d strongly recommend setting back-in-stock alerts, as popular sets can get snapped up quickly.
We completely understand your concerns around availability and turnaround, and just to reassure you - we are continuously reinvesting into stock, systems and our operations to keep improving the service as demand grows.
Really appreciate your support, and hope we can get you back to enjoying more builds again soon.
