DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM THIS CAR SALES We bought an Audi last year 02/07/2025 from Brownlows, paid £8000 we were told that before we could take it they would have to put a test on it, 2 days later they told us we could come pay and take it away. We did that, ff a year, took it for a test, failed on ommissions, told us that the ommissions are so bad taht it could blow up! told us that the car has been remapped! Took it to Vastecc as they are the only people that will even look at it, they have told me '' that parameters have been changed so warning lights will never trigger on dash and no fault codes are accessible using Vagcom or ODIS! Using their equipment there are 30+ faults in engine alone!
The next step is to refit original DPF with new gaskets etc then reset parameters to manufacturers spec, clear all faults and see if any won’t clear and/or see what returns when we retest? And go from there.
The costings are
Initial diagnostic £87.00
To remove DPF for inspection £270.00
To refit DPF inc gaskets etc £330.00
Second diagnostic £87.00
Total inc VAT £774.00
This is just the beginning!!
God only knows what the costs will be!!
Rang Brownlows today and spoke to a man, told him what has gone on and he was very defensive, told me they are not responsible, they have never tampered with it, so I put it to them that as Vasstech stated whoever did the last test or whoever you bought the car from are responsible as they were the last people to do any work to the car, i.e. tested the car ready for sale, they are the only people responsible, they completely denied it.
The testing organisation is MAZ & SONS MOT AUTO REPAIRS. M. SHAMEEM ! GO FIGURE, A certain group of people seem to think they can do whatever they like! DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS GARAGE!

Absolutely terrible company
Absolutely terrible company. After buying a car from them that spent more time in their garage than on my driveway, they deigned to buy it back for market value. I bought another one from them with guarantees and warranties etc. After 8 months it needed £2.5K work doing and then I was told it needed a new engine. It is STILL UNDER WARRANTY. Fantastic experience from the first enquiry to receiving the vehicle. Terry went above and beyond to make sure my new van had a fresh mot and it arrived immaculate. Very happy with the service and the product I received from this garage and I highly recommend their professionalism :)

AVOID THIS GARAGE. DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM HERE.
To be honest, you would think the people running this place have never run a business before. I bought a van from them; it looked great on the outside, and the staff were very friendly—right up until the moment I signed the papers. As soon as you go back to report a problem, the attitude changes completely and they just give you excuses.
The list of issues:
1. Side lights: Reported they weren't working before I bought it. They said they would fix them, but they never did.
2. Roof: The roof on the Luton van was loose. I ended up fixing that myself.
3. Timing Belt: About 4 weeks later, the van broke down. They claimed the timing belt had been changed, and it was still under the 3-month warranty. Despite this, they still charged me £2,500 to fix it.
4. Mechanical Failures: The starter motor broke. did the front brakes .the back ones needed replacing. That’s when they also told me the rear shock absorbers needed changing too.
5. Engine Recall: I took it to a Citroën dealership because of a safety recall. They did a report and found the engine needs replacing. The quote? £14,000.
And it doesn't stop there...
They told me the van came with 3 months road tax and that they would send off for the logbook. I drove it for 3 months while they kept saying "it takes time". When I checked with the DVLA, there was no tax and no logbook registered. I was driving illegally!
When I confronted them, it was a nightmare. They tried to tell me to go to the post office and sort it myself. I refused, so eventually, they sorted the logbook—but then had the cheek to tell me I had to pay half the road tax myself!

Brownlow Cars advertise that their cars are AA inspected, their either false information, or the AA inspection isn’t a comprehensive check and doesn’t provide piece of mind.
I was interested in a Renault Trafic which was advertised by Brownlows, after conducting my own checks found it was a write off and sold at a salvage auction. See photos of their advert (and the AA ‘inspection’) and also photos from the insurer at the salvage auction.

Deposit refund
I did not buy a vehicle from here, however I left a deposit.
I spoke with Paul N, explained my situation and expressed interest in a vehicle. He was so helpful, he said should I want to leave a deposit and purchase the vehicle once my insurance had paid my for my old car this would be fine.
Unfortunately (still 4 weeks after my crash!) I have still not been paid out, I explained to Paul and he refunded my deposit. Which for me, shows a lot for the morals within the company.

Called in on Monday and took the car for a test drive and decided to buy it. Dave handled the very professionally. Overall a great service

Exceptionally disappointed with the service provided my this outfit!
I requested to reserve a vehicle on a Friday to view on following Monday initially I was told I would need to pay a small deposit.
I had no problem with this, the deposit then increased during our telephone conversation to £ 1k. The reason being it a was popular truck.
I accepted requested an email to confirm the details of the deposit before I made a card payment for £1k a perfectly reasonable request I thought as I was being pressured to pay £1k upfront without viewing.
This was arranged by Lauren, I did not receive an email even though she clearly explained. I would receive an email straight away, I did not!
so I emailed her she made it very clear they respond to emails 24/7 .As the email was sent within office hours I would have expected a response anyway.
I then received an email ( didn’t even have decency to call me ) saying we’ve sold the truck.

My previous car was stolen. I called Terry (i was a woman in distress). He did absolutely everything for me i never had to worry about a thing. The delivery was a little late, however they were in constant contact keeping me updated through the day. Im a worrier and for the second time Terry and his team gave performed me a miracle. Thank you Terry and the team. 😊
Brilliant customer service and lovely car
I purchased a Range Rover from them, and they are based in Darlington, and I am near Inverness. I dealt with Dave at Brownlows, and the customer service was excellent. He kept me informed at all stages, had the car delivered to me without any challenges.
A few days later, the car came up with a warning light. I contacted Dave, and he told me to get a quote to fix which I did, and it was approved immediately. Excellent Service and car is immaculate. Dave Great Job.

Horrific similar to the ones above sold faulty car, refused to pay garage for quote for repairs, refused to collect car. No paperwork totally unfair trading practices and against all consumer rights. His aggressive and nasty behaviour towards female customers.

Steve also confirmed on the phone that the van was sent to one of the three garages that you use for MOTs - clearing handing out dodgys as this should never have passed!

PART 2 - This dealership had until today to get back in touch with my finance company to unwind the deal and arrange the return of the broken vehicle they sold me.
As I assumed Paul wasn't in, like he wasn’t in the time before! Different excuses every time, they even lied about the women who we dealt with Lauren saying she was heavily pregnant and off - All lies!
It feels like this isn’t Brownlows first rhodeo of scamming people and ignoring hoping the customer gives up. I won’t give up this vehicle will be returned even if it means legal I will sit and wait and continue to write updates daily until this is dealt with.
Next I will be uploading images of faults with the vehicle and reports from the garages it’s been too.
The quicker this is dealt with Paul and Lauren the better for us all.
Again people I would advise to stay away from this place
