Do not use
Do not use. Staff are very unprofessional and I experienced racism from there staff! Do not use!
If you value your possessions don't use Casey's
I'd booked Casey's Removals (Beckenham) for a small local removal, and the staff did a good job. But the drivers asked for cash because in their opinion there were more items than they expected, I was happy to pay. I then booked Casey's for a long-distance removal service, and they claimed they would load on a Friday, put the items in storage (Beckenham) and deliver the items on Monday. Late on Friday, I asked Casey's for a cost to store the items for a further week because the decorators still had a bit of work to do at the delivery address. It's difficult to understand what happened next, but on Saturday morning I received a text to contact my bank, which informed me that a large and unusual payment had occurred. Casey had recorded my card details (for the deposit) and used it to take a payment without discussion or consent. When I called Casey's I was treated with hostility by a female staff member. I asked my son to call as the company had previously met me and knew I was an elderly female. The staff member made out like I was losing my marbles and lied to my son. I decided to arrange for some workers and my son to collect the possessions from Casey's storage unit and put them into a new unit until it was time to deliver them to the new property. The female staff member refused to provide access to my possession unless I paid £200. Then she called back and said, I want £300 to provide access.I asked my son to make the payment, as I had taken my money from my current account to stop Casey's taking any more money. At the last minute, I decided to meet the removal men and my son at the storage facility and what a good job I did. Casey's staff were loading and unloading other customers' possessions at the storage facility, and so weren't making a special trip to open the storage unit for me. Also about a third of my possessions were missing, and despite there being lots of empty storage units at the facility, Casey's staff had to travel from Beckenham to Croydon to bring back the missing items. Later the storage company asked for permission to move the items into a storage facility at Sydenham as they were closing the Beckenham branch. They assured me they'd transfer my possessions to the same size unit and would take care of everything. When I visited the new storage facility with a relative, we were unable to open the door of the new storage unit. We had to return to meet a manager who'd force the door open. The manager said that Casey's had the contract to transport all the contents of storage units to the new facility, which set off alarm bells. When the new storage unit was opened, Casey's had rammed my possessions into a storage unit that was clearly too small. They used an expensive natural fibre mattress to hold the possessions in place to squeeze down the roller doors. The mattress was damaged in several places, and the cover was torn off, the shelving unit uprights were broken, boxes containing crockery and glass rattled, the fabric on a high back chair was torn, metal shelving was twisted, boxes crushed, an expensive leg for a sit-stand desk was missing, several items of furniture such as handmade dining table and wall units were scratched and parts showed dents. Of cource I complained but the storage facility would only pick up damage caused at their facility i.e, mattress and claimed that Casey's must have caused the remaining damage during transportation. In the end, I received very little compensation, which couldn't even buy another mattress, as the insurers claimed it was used. The company that collected and delivered the items to my new home said that Casey's wasn't a professional outfit when they saw the damage. They also said that Casey tended to pay staff cash in hand and employ staff who weren't suitable for employment at professional removal companies. I was traumatised by the whole affair, which ended in August 2024! I would not advise anyone who values their possessions to use Casey's for a removal service. Going through this thread of reviews, I wasn't surprised by the large number of customers who'd had bad experiences.
Moved from Biggin Hill to Aylesford…
We moved from Biggin Hill to Aylesford and initially the process was very professional with the surveyor coming to the house and doing the quote. On the day of the move the guys were great but as the day progressed our items were being treated less kindly and at one point the King mattress was left in the hall uncovered and lying on all the dirty boot soiling in the house.
It took me 2 hours to clean the house due to the mud left by boots before handing over keys. At the other end the delivery started well but then declined to just chuck it in the house as quickly as possible. On top of the badly soiled mattress there were a number of items damaged some of which are irreplaceable. I made a complaint and claim with them and had 2 guys come to check and have now been chasing weekly for a response for the last few months but have still not heard back from Caseys. I will chase again next Friday and again after that, I suppose. The saga continues.
Excellent service
Excellent service, from our first call to moving day.
4 man team helped us move from St Pauls Cray Orpington to Bexhill-on-Sea and made it so easy. We cannot thank you all enough.
5 star's for Casey's Removals
With only two days notice Casey's Removals were remarkable. I can't recommend them enough. From Lisa in the office who dealt with my daily enquiries, to Lewis and his team who moved us over the two days, it was all in a day's work.
Lewis made a stressful situation bearable with his calm, can-do attitude. Nothing was too much for them. The whole team was friendly, helpful and they were a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended.
Not our best experience
Please be very cautious if using Caseys to store furniture between moves. Our experience has not been great! We used Caseys as we wanted to support a local firm and our move out earlier in the year was great with a lovely team who did an excellent job. Unfortunately our house move fell through and our furniture was stored for 3 months. Owing to the need to obtain a parking suspension the initial move date was delayed by a week for which we were charged an additional £800. Now this might be hidden in the small print and be well within their terms and conditions but it felt harsh. The team moving in were no where near as approachable as the original team and made derogatory comments about having to move to a basement flat ( I had not been asked and being inexperienced in moving had not considered this might be a problem). The person leading the team made me feel uncomfortable. I admit it has taken us some months to fully settle in and we have subsequently found some items missing. Stalemate resulted in that I was told how the vans are checked by two teams so that boxes couldn't get lost. Yet I am missing a box of winter boots/shoes and some glassware. In themselves not valuable as such but more to the point I felt I was being accused of making it up. Errors do occur and I would have welcomed a more conciliatory approach. I have given 2* simply because the original team were great!
Service worth it's weight in gold
I would highly recommend Casey's for a home move. Very friendly staff on the phone when booking is just the start. On the day we had Lewis, Tony & Sam. All of them worked so hard but with a smile the whole day. They were friendly, respectful and efficient and I would use them again in the future. Excellent service.
Casey’s Great
we recently used casey’s beckenham to move from hayes to orpington.
They were very very helpful and efficient.Even though we hadn’t exchanged contracts they still held our moving slot which was so appreciated by us at this extremely stressful time.On the day of the move the team were so helpful, careful and quick not to mention patient. i would recommend this company to anyone
Broken bed
The removal team were quick and efficient. But be aware that if something is broken you need to contact them within 7 days to report an issue - I saw a member of the team jump on the foot board of my bed and break it but I didn’t report it in the time frame…
Great local company-would use them again
The reviews made me nervous when I first booked this company but we had an excellent experience. We paid for 2 lorries and 4 removal men. We completed at 9:30am which was a complete surprise and our estate agent started putting pressure on us to be out asap. Without asking, 2 extra removal men showed up (so 6 men in total) with another van (we didn't need it) but the guys were a good laugh and lightented the burden of the day. They were super helpful with everything from dismantling beds, wardrobes, washing machines and reassembling them at our new property. They even fixed some doors on our new property and took a bedroom unit out to accommodate our king size bed. We moved with a piano and some seriously heavy musical equipment and they never moaned, nothing was broken and they bubbled wrapped a few of our items with great care (TV piano etc). Thanks you guys were great!! they started at 8:30am and was done by 1:30pm. also the shop being local was of great use to use we ran out of boxes and could easily get there to collect extra ones. The staff at the shop were also so friendly, kind and laid back.
Great Drivers,Poor Management. Smashed Telly.
Unfortunately my Samsung curved tv came back damaged and where I cannot fault the delivery drivers who were ever so respectful of myself and my property Casey’s management team are refusing to compensate me anything because I’m 7days over there policies. Where I fully understand that should adhere to there policies they’ve had my stuff in storage for nearly two years in which held 7years of my life. I was in decant due to a burst water pipe In my garden in which caused me to end up in hospital with aspergillosis from the damp and mould in my flat. Evidently as a vulnerable tenant moving home after such a stressful ordeal I kind of expected a little more duty of care from there management team who refused to take responsibility for the damage they caused to my property. As a single female tenant with disabilities unpacking 7years of my life was never going to happen within 7days. Moving forward I wouldn’t recommend this company.
Disappointing service
Having been let down at the last minute by another removal company I contacted Casey’s who said they had availability to pack up our belongings on the 16th December and move us on the 17th. As I did not have the date of our quote as I was out, Casey’s said that they would call me back in the morning to confirm everything. They did call at 9am but said they would have to speak to the appraiser so would call back later. Whilst waiting to hear from them, we exchanged contracts with a completion date of the 17th, only to get a call about 1pm to be told that they could not move us as they had taken other bookings.
Huge let down and left us searching for a removal company with very little time.
Turned up nice and early
Turned up nice and early , worked effective and efficiently to load the van in no time . Both the men were friendly and cheerful and made polite conversation
Took our belongings to where it was being stored and informed us of the location .
DON’T USE THEM IF YOU ARE A WOMAN
Don’t use if you are a woman, completely ripped off!
I used Casey’s to give a local business money, I accounted for a large quantity of boxes, white goods etc, but on arrival the moving guys said that this was double to what I had already paid for and that I would need to speak to the office as there was double the quantity missing off their sheet, they also lied and said that some of the items weren’t even on the original list and when I showed them the list and those items were on it they said “oh sorry must have missed that”! As it was my moving day and I was moving completely out of the city, I couldn’t call as I was then on the road. Moving day is stressful enough, when I eventually arrived at my new home, mobile signal was really bad, but the Casey’s office had called and left messages to call them to pay the additional fee. The removal men took an exceptionally long time to arrive and when they did they had been instructed by the Casey’s office not to start unloading until this further fee had been paid. As a lone woman I felt extremely intimidated by all of this and when I did speak to the Casey’s office in Beckenham they told me it would be an additional £890 +VAT, as I it was double the quantity, this was a complete lie but as I said as a lone woman and against these men it didn’t feel safe at all, so paid the additional fee. I feel completely ripped off and thoroughly disgusted and disappointed with Casey’s they should be completely ashamed of themselves as a business, holding customers property to ransom and intimidating women. I have since spoken to my solicitor who has advised me that I am well within my rights to take them to a small claims court for this matter or indeed the press for the handling of customer’s property, it is a serious possibility.
A business that lacks empathy
I have written this review after reading Christine’s review on moral values. Casey’s market themselves as a ‘family business’ which for most of us appeals to the values we all hold regarding family. But the key word for them is ‘business’. We had a complex move (two houses moving into one house to provide end of life support for my terminally ill husband). In the event our move was delayed as my husband died. The original date had to be cancelled, but Casey’s still asked (and I paid) £2.5K penalty. They then had the audacity to ask if I would like to rebook and pay another deposit. To this day (we moved a year ago) this still lists as the most lacking in empathy to have happened to my family during a terrible time. I’d have happily lost the not inconspicuous deposit, but the extra £1K on top just showed very skewed principles.
Good Movers!
I have used Caseys a couple of times now and found them to be reliable, efficient and professional. Would not hesitate to recommend.
The team were amazing, great service
Lewis and his team were great helping my mother-in-law move a couple of weeks ago. Moving is one of the most stressful things and they were very understanding and helped to make the move go as well as it could, by going above and beyond. We would definitely use them again, as well as recommend to family and friends.
Thanks guys!
Legally within their rights but what about ethics and values ?
When the estimator/ owner came he was charming and reassuring. He suggested I made a provisional booking quickly to secure the slot, if I was happy with the estimate, and said that I could move it without penalty if the date changed. My daughter had used them a few months before and was very impressed with the team who did her move so although they weren’t the cheapest quote, I decided to go with them. When I rang to make the booking they told me they weren’t taking provisional bookings for the date I wanted because there was so much demand for that date. My mistake was not to fully understand the implications of that even though, to be fair to the person in their office, she did say on the phone that I wouldn’t be able to change the date. However at no point in the conversation the figure of c £4000 mentioned , which is the amount they deducted from my cc when the date fell through because of a problem somewhere else in the chain. They had access to my cc because I had paid £1500 when I booked. I pleaded with them at least to see if they could fill the slot with someone else given that they had told me the only reason they wouldn’t accept a provisional booking was that so many other people wanted the same date. They said they would still take the cancellation fee even if they did fill the slot as that was what the T and Cs provided for. .I hadn’t moved for 20 years and with things going wrong it was a very stressful time and I wasn’t at my best for understanding how the T and Cs worked in practice even though I had read them and had the phone call. I thought at worst I would lose my deposit. They were legally and technically within their rights in taking £4000 for doing nothing, but the most upsetting thing was their complete lack of flexibility. It wasn’t as if I had cancelled because I had changed my mind about using them or about moving. All I wanted to do was change the date to a week or so later but they weren’t prepared to bend at all. They did refund my deposit but it took them over a week to do that whereas they took my money instantly. I suppose as people don’t move very often they aren’t bothered about the client relationship and don’t need to show goodwill. Needless to say I wasn’t going to pay them again for moving me the following week so went with another company but having in effect to pay twice for my removal costs was very upsetting at a time that was already highly stressful. So if you use them make sure you not only read the T and Cs but that you also understand exactly what they mean in all circumstances.
What a great removal this company did…
What a great removal this company did for me , turned up on time the 3 guys that moved me were on the ball and hardworking from the get go , didn’t need to ask them to do anything even wrapping stuff safely I didn’t have time to do , can’t praise them enough made such a stressful occasion as stress free as it could possibly be , the office staff were also very helpful with nothing too much trouble if your looking for reasonable cost and a professional job look no further can’t praise them enough , many thanks Casey’s .
