Very good - but specify 'discreet packaging'

The first time I ordered from cimexine I specified 'discreet packaging' in the 'notes' section and they obliged with an anonymous brown box. The second time I ordered I forgot to specify this and the package arrived with the brand name all over the outside and 'PROTECT DETECT DESTROY' written dramatically on the tape. Admittedly I forgot to specify this requirement in the notes that time but I feel that discretion should be standard practice for something like this. No one wants their neighbours to catch sight of that. That's my only quibble. Apart from that the service was very good. When the first package did not arrive on time they refunded the postage costs and apologised. I was happy with that - enough to order again. And I would still order again - just remember to ask for discreet packaging!

Very happy to recommend Cimexine.com for heat treatment work. I’d had a problem with these blighters for over a year and they were driving me mad – I was literally losing sleep and after three failed insecticide sprays was losing the will…. Cimexine came highly recommended to me by a friend who had also had bed bugs in the last year. The head office team were incredibly helpful and patient with me. I took ages to decide – it is expensive. There was no pressure to book – just good information. The six-month guarantee and the fact that the process kills the eggs as well as the insects and could treat all my clothes and books were what swung things for me. One the day the trained technicians were the height of professionalism and helped me with parts of the prep I hadn’t been able to do. I had to leave the property for the day but that was all explained in advance. It’s now three weeks since the treatment and I have no more bites and seen no more bed bugs so it’s pretty clear that this is a highly effective approach to a nightmare insect and I although I wouldn’t wish bed bugs on anyone, if you are unlucky enough to get them I would recommend Cimexine/British Bug Control without hesitation

Great from start to finish - definitely recommend this company!

I rang around a variety of companies that offer heat treatments for bed bugs and when i called British Bug Control, they were, by far, the most professional, helpful and knowledgeable company i spoke to, plus they also offered the longest guarantee period.

The booking process was simple, and the staff bent over backwards to answer all my questions. I was even able to talk to the operations manager over the weekend before my treatment about some of the preparation i needed to do, as well as check about a couple of items that were very delicate, to make sure they wouldn't be damaged through the heating process.

I hadn't realised initially how expensive the heat treatments were, but British Bug Control explained how the treatment worked in great detail which made it clear why the treatment costs more than other types, and also why it is so effective in getting rid of the bugs. They also explained to me the different ways that "heat treatments" are sold, and that several companies that claim to do heat treatments use "pods" rather than heating the entire room, and even worse, others use normal fan heaters that plug into the mains of the house - if that were to work, i'd have done that ages ago!!

When the guys arrived to carry out the treatment, it was clear that the work being done was going to be very professional with heaters that had been specially designed for this work. The guys explained to me that they would be using these heaters to circulate very hot dry air around the rooms over several hours. Everything they told me on the day was exactly how the office had explained everything would go - i couldn't be happier!

If you are thinking of booking a heat treatment, make sure you do your research properly. Check the equipment that is going to be used to make sure you are getting a proper treatment, and make sure they are members of the British Pest Control Association like British Bug Control are.

The best thing about purchasing from Cimexine was the incredibly helpful person I spoke to twice about my situation before buying. A fountain of knowledge - I am extremely grateful for his time and patience.

The encasement itself seems of very good quality though in the end we aren't dealing with bedbugs. However, it's still great to feel there's a barrier between us and anything in our mattress. Plus it will protect a new mattress when we decide to get one.

tackling the rise of the bed bugs

after waking up with bites on my arms for weeks and not knowing what they were from. I dropped something down the back of my bed and lifted up the mattress to discover in utter despair that I had BED BUGS!! I felt disgusting and panicked searching everywhere I could for anymore hiding around my bedroom. after not seeing anymore signs that they were hiding in other places and they were just in my divan bed base and mattress I ordered a base encasement, threw away bedding and waited for it to arrive. when it came I was astounded by the quality of the encasement and how well it fitted. it cut down instantly on the bites and I saw 4 bugs after putting it on (I think they fell off whilst encasing my divan base) and now nothing! no more blood smears on bedding, no more bites and piece of mind that I can sleep soundly and not let the bed bugs bite! if you are looking for a great quality encasement then look no further than this company. they do exactly what they say and I would recommend them and their products to anyone suffering with a bed bug infestation.

Shoddy product, poorly made zips.

Shoddy product. The mattress encasement fitted perfectly however the zip is useless! For the amount of money I've spent I expect to get a working zip but the zips used for the mattress encasement are just flimsy and not up to the job. As I've pulled the zip along to close the encasement it opens up behind it. Emailed them about getting a refund but got no response.

This is very unusual (as you might have gathered from the previous review - five stars - for the same product). It only usually happens if the encasement is too tight for the mattress and forced. We are happy to replace it at no charge, but please double check the measurements - if we need to supply a larger size then we will do so at no additional cost to yourself. horrible experience

It was a horrible experience. I would never book cimexine again. We had a Spray treatment against bed bugs which didn't work. Then we paid for a heat treatment and one month later we had bed bugs again and had to wait for 4 days until cimexine gave us a free Slot to disinfect again. The Personal was very rude and unfriedly.

It's quite hard to know who you are from your name 'Bug' but I am guessing that you are a lady who spoke to us yesterday afternoon. We understand fully how frustrating and upsetting it can be having bed bugs - we deal with this every day, day in, day out. Lots of people get to their wits end with bed bugs. We also understand that you are frustrated that you have paid a lot of money for a heat treatment which seems not to have worked first time, as you and we had hoped it would. Heat treatment is the best approach in an established bed bug infestation because it penetrates areas that you cannot with insecticide, and treats items that cannot be treated with insecticide, such as clothes and books. Most importantly of all, it kills the egg stage (insecticide doesn't). However, every property, infestation and level of preparation is different and even with heat, occasionally revisits are needed. Plus sometimes it's hard to work out where the infestation is coming from and there are times when the actual treatment works perfectly, but the property becomes re-infested by repeat behaviour such as staying over in the same place again, or they can be coming from next door. This is why we spend so much time during the consultation phase finding out as much as we can about the infestation, and why the preparation side of things is detailed. We of course want the same result as you, that is getting rid of the infestation in one visit. However if revisits are required, that is covered by your six month guarantee. I do feel it only correct to put the record straight in terms of what happened yesterday and the version of events you have made public above. You had a heat treatment on November 30th. You contacted us at 6.35pm by email on January 11th to say you found one bed bug on your bed. As this was after hours, we received this on Friday morning (yesterday). We were unable to book you in for a re-treatment on Friday, and booked you in for a re-treatment on the next available working day (Monday). Saying you had to wait four days is misleading, as it includes the day you sent the email after hours (Thursday - we received your email on Friday morning), and it includes two non-working days, Saturday and Sunday. I am sorry that you felt the person was rude and unfriendly. I overheard the whole conversation and I don't agree. I think she was professional and honest and you did put her in a difficult position saying to her that we had guaranteed it would work first time and demanding that we pay for a hotel for you. Please note that we never guarantee heat treatment will work first time. Occasionally revisits are needed and unfortunately this is one of those occasions. However, re-treatments are included under the guarantee. We wish to work with you to get rid of your problem, and will see you on Monday.

Mattress encasement arrived very …

Mattress encasement arrived very promptly (had expected delays due to Christmas holiday) and was relatively easy to fit. No evidence of bites since fitting - would be happy to try some of their other products, but I hope we won't need them.

Service is excellent with fast

Service is excellent with fast, efficient delivery. Really liked the provision of a time slot. I was in all day anyway, but had I needed to go out i could have done so. Wish other couriers used this sort of technology, saving both the recipients time and the couriers.

We can see from our records that you ordered some of the Insectaclear C insect killer.
This is high in the active Cypermethrin for an amateur use product and when combined with Bug Duster powder will give you both a knockdown (the spray) and a residual (the powder). And you do need both because bed bugs can be very difficult to find and direct hit.
In low level and recent infestations it can be worth having a go yourself, but if the infestation is well established you will probably need a professional approach which we are happy to discuss with you.
The longer an infestation has been in a property or room, the more eggs there are going to be. Even professional strength insecticides don't kill the eggs (which is why heat treatment is so popular).

HEAT TREATMENT DIDNT WORK, FOLLOW UP SERVICE POOR AND DONT BELIEVE THEIR GUARANTEE

Very poor service received from Thermokil Services (the company to which BBC subcontracted our bed bug heat treatment) - heat treatment did not work, they delayed extensively the follow up treatment promised and then failed to carry out a second heat treatment as they had promised.

We paid a significant amount of money for the initial bed bug treatment in May 2017 which came with a "guarantee". The initial treatment was not effective and we have been suffering with bites since early May. After many emails and calls, Thermokil finally agreed in an email of 15 September to conduct a full heat treatment of our house again. We spent a lot of time preparing for the treatment, removing all goods that could be affected by the heat treatment. On 3 October, after the treatment was meant to have been completed, the Thermokil staff responsible left a note in our house saying that they had “... re-heated 3 bedrooms and lounge”. However, it did not seem to us that a heat treatment had been undertaken:
– the house did not feel warm like the previous time,
– posters on the cupboards in our boys bedrooms had not fallen off (like they had the previous time, presumably because the blu tack is affected by the heat),
– there was no evidence that the doors of the treated rooms had been sealed (last time there were tacks left in the door frames), and
– whilst we were re-packing electronics etc. back into the bedrooms, we found some wax crayons in our boys bedrooms which we had inadvertently not removed. Presumably these should have melted?

I therefore sent an email on 4 October to clarify exactly what was done. Thermokil responded saying that “We ... heat treated remote areas that showed signs of infestation. Mainly on the large wooden bed frame. We then sprayed all areas”. It is not clear to me how you heat treat “remote areas” – either a room is heat treated or it is not? However, it is clear that Thermokil did not heat treat all the rooms again as they had promised. It would appear that Thermokil misled us as to what was actually done.

Promised some follow up treatment but frankly a waste of time. Do not waste your money with British Bed Bug Control or Thermokil Services.



We have been very patient with you conducting this follow up treatment and you then fail to undertake what you promised and try to mislead us. You also wasted a lot of our time preparing for a heat treatment that never happened. This is completely unacceptable and I want you to explain how you intend to deal with this.

We don't want to report this review Charles but we will if we have to as it is almost diametrically the opposite of the version of events we have our end. What we know is that you have as yet not replied to the messages we have personally left you on your answer service in a bid to resolve the matter. We would like to get this resolved to your satisfaction but you need to engage with us for this to happen rather than go online and criticise us. Please call the office.

We have given Charles over two months to respond and we feel well within our rights to publish the full version of events.


The review left by Charles Greenfield is not a fair reflection of both companies or the treatments, support, time and advice he received. Several times Charles received time and re-treatments that, had we stuck to the letter of the warranty, we were well within our rights to refuse as he produced absolutely no evidence that he still had any problem. But we did all we could to help solve his problems and keep him happy as we do with all our customers.
Please see a summary of the activities taken place between Charles and us. Charles is now not answering any of our calls or emails to try and gain an update of the situation.

One of our heat treatment teams first visited Charles Greenfield’s property to heat treat the bedrooms and lounge for bed bugs on 03/05/17. Charles booked a dry heat treatment of three bedrooms and the lounge with the usual 24 week guarantee (which incidentally is market leading).

18/5/17 – Charles contacted us to say he thought was getting bitten and sent us images of bites. It is very clear in the warranty that once the settling in period is over, if the customer believes they are experiencing biting, we will provide monitors to see if there are any insects present.

25/5/17 – Charles emailed pictures of more bites and a caught bug which from the picture was difficult to identify as a bed bug. However, we offered to retreat. We offered him a date the following week which he declined. He then asked for a visit on the 7th June which we agreed to.

7/6/17 – We attended Charles’ property to inspect and treat as required. Absolutely no live evidence was found and the technicians carried out a full precautionary insecticidal spray treatment to leave a residual barrier in place.

12/6/17 – Charles sent in an email with more suspected bites. Our operations team spoke to Charles in depth and again supplied him with bed bug monitors free of charge.

23/8/17 – Charles emailed to say the bites were worse but still no bugs found. He asked if we could come and treat week commencing 4/9/17, and we booked this in. Charles subsequently cancelled this appointment with another member of our team

15/9/17 – Charles requested another treatment to replace the one cancelled. Our operations manager replied to Charles as follows: “Good morning Charles. As you are aware as a rule we need to see live evidence to carry out a further heat treatment. However, in this case I would like to put an end to this for you by carrying out a heat treatment and a full survey of your property. We will survey prior and post treatment that day. We will also install new bed bug monitors and from this point will require “live” evidence of bed bugs and not just apparent biting. Availability is week commencing 25th. Do you have a preference?”

Charles requested a date of the 27th which we accepted and booked in for him.

25/9/17 – Operations were forced to contact Charles to reschedule the treatment as one of the staff members scheduled to visit Charles was off work unwell. We agreed with Charles we would visit 3/10/17

3/10/17 – Our staff member was still off unwell. But so not to cancel again we moved around our own paid for work to ensure we were able to attend to resolve Charles’ problems. We did a full survey of the property and once again, did not find a single bug. However, we still carried out a heat treatment to all the bed frames, and sofa. We also steamed all the furniture in all the bedrooms and applied a residual chemical treatment and diatomaceous earth treatment as well.

14/11/17 – Charles contacted operations to say he thought he was still getting bitten but was unsure. Again, there were still no signs of any actual bed bugs. Our head of operations explained that if the suspected biting continued he would like Charles to contact him every other day to build up a picture of how often this might be happening. Charles said he would email at least once a week. He never emailed or called once after this. We therefore assumed all was well. We then received the Trust Pilot review above. All efforts to make contact with him since this have failed. In short he has refused to answer our calls or emails. Instead he published a vitrolic and untrue account of events for reasons known only to him. We are full BPCA members and specialists in heat treatment for bed bugs and other insects. All our operatives carrying out this kind of work undergo intense heat treatment training. We pride ourselves on our integrity and customer service and feel we have acted in a thoroughly professional manner. We feel companies need protection from people who act in such a manner.

Nice company product arrive in timely fashion but felt the chemical bug killer could have come with more advice on use. Divan ... boxspring cover good quality.
