Very poor company to deal with.

Very poor company - got moved over to them from Canada life (life insurance) "so no choice basically" and this company are terrible.
A simple issue with a direct debit that just will not come out of the bank, everytime we call they are rude, dismissive and not interested, we have to call them every month to make a payment and try and ask for the direct debit to be resolved, they are never interested and tbh I think dont want us as a customer, they may get there own way soon as if its this bad now, imagine having to make a claim, you have been warned. (Date of experience - every month since October 2025) :-(

Countrywide Assurance is a cowboy

Countrywide has been mismanaging my pension after its taking over from Sanlam, causing me significant financial loss. It refuses to issue me with a referral letter and alos refuses to allow me to transfer OUT of it. I am considering legal action against it for my financial loss.

Take your money out of it when you can.

The country assured website is down…

The country assured website is down again. I’ve contacted the company on a number of occasions and they say they’re working on it. They say that it is with their IT department, but nothing seems to get fixed. In this day and age it’s poor that there is no access to fund prices while the website is down. This needs to get sorted quickly.

Abysmal processes.

Do not use this company . Abysmal . I have been trying for two years to release money for my dad’s care. It is non stop delaying tactics, Excuses , no care for customers .

I have never experienced such shoddy inconsiderate treatment from a company .
Avoid if you actually would like to remove your money after many years of investment. Avoid if you or family member would like to be treated with respect or basic care .
AVOID !!!!!
I would like to award -10 stars .
( I have stated 8/2/26 however I have contacted them too many times to mention over a two year period. )

If I could leave minus stars I would - AVOID

If I could leave minus stars I would. I have been trying to cash in a pension to pay for my Dad's care for 8 weeks. It's been a constant flow of broken promises, unreturned calls and incredibly dense call centre staff. When you actually get to a manager they are jaded and unresponsive, they seem to care in one breath then in the next another delay tactic.
FYI, Chesnara are the administrators and HCLTech are the company doing the footwork, meanwhile the share price bottoms out and yet miraculously dividends are paid out, no wonder no one gives a hoot.
As already said further down, had I known 30 odd years ago how awful this experience would be i would not have bothered.
Avoid like the plague

Please don's use this company

Please don's use this company. We've had a terrible time with them over the years. Their own systems produced errors and changed our payment amounts, and we were accused of not paying (which we had) and then had to prove every month that we had made our payment manually while they spent months ignoring us and telling us they couldn't fix their own IT error. A few years on and it's now time to get our endowment final sum. They're dragging their heals, saying they will send out forms and then don't, all the time earning interest on our money which we need to pay off the mortgage! I will say that the customer services staff on the end of the telephone have always been lovely and try to sort things out, but the company itself just doesn’t seem to function well.

I have been trying to transfer my…

I have been trying to transfer my pension from Countrywide since October to Pension Bee but it has turned out to be a very poor experience. Every phone call I make I get told a different story and no- one takes responsibility for their actions. Training seems to be minimal and customer satisfaction must be at an all time low. If I had known this 35 years ago I would have avoided this company like the plague.

I am writing to express my deep concern…

Absolutely terrible experience. I filed a life insurance claim over two years ago and it’s still not processed. The company drags its feet with endless Gp shift blaming , poor communication, and zero accountability. What should have been a straightforward process has turned into over 2 years of frustration. If you’re looking for reliability or compassion, look elsewhere."

We put a claim in

We put a claim in, did all the paperwork etc, sent forms off. We were told claim was successful but 4 months later we still haven't received the money. When we enquire we are told oh it's all gone through you just need to wait for the pay-out. Worse insurance company I have ever dealt with.

Very good response from Customer Relations

Found out my premiums had not been taken and called to ask. Was told Policy was time limited and had finished and they wrote to me months ago explaining. I never received this and filed a complaint. Just received a full explanation and the letter advising me hadnt been sent due to an error on their part when I moved house. Apologies etc and small token made. But full and complete investigation made and a clear and considerate response from Kate T. Thank you. Other companies could learn from your excellent customer service even when the answer is not what you hoped for. Recommend this company.Ref 0007444501
