£4K out of pocket, avoid at all costs: Unprofessional and traumatising bullying.
After taking some time to gather my thoughts, and still £4K out of pocket, I wanted to write with a bit more detail about my "Cupid In the City" experience.
I see other Google reviewers have since also left 1-star Google reviews.
I remain saddened by the traumatising and distressing experience I had with Siobhan. I do, however, believe she has the best intentions and wishes to make good matches. I have no interest in speaking untruths or slandering her character, as she has tried to, mine. This is business, not personal.
All screenshots attached on my Google review.
I enjoyed our initial consultation, and she had gained my trust. I also enjoyed the photoshoot, and the calls with herself and the other matchmaker, as mentioned in my previous review.
Being objective, it takes a lot to swing a customer from being so trusting of you as a businessperson that they’d pay you £4K (no small sum)— to convert that trusting customer to feeling so worn down by inappropriate comments and unprofessional behaviour, that they feel no choice but to abandon ship.
To then stonewall their emails expressing their distress, saying you will only now engage with legal, not with them, to returning their formal complaint letter unopened, and to then leaving them £4K out of pocket, reeks, to me, of poor business practice.
From alluding to past emotionally abusive relationships I’ve been in, which I confided in the matchmaker about due to the nature of her role, and which had led me to seeking a matchmaker to help me avoid the same mistakes in the first place — relationships which have caused immense pain and taken time to heal from; I was told by this matchmaker, when I raised a formal complaint, not to ‘add her to my list of abusers’. How deeply inappropriate and unbecoming of a professional.
I was — accidentally, I assume — looped into an internal email where she slandered me to her colleagues, casting aspersions on my character. I appreciated her later apology, but still, this shows the level of professionalism one can expect from this £4K service.
Siobhan made me feel like I was difficult — in asking innocent questions as a newbie to matchmaking, or asking for photos that made me feel beautiful to be featured on my profile, or declining second dates with someone I was incompatible with values-wise.
I've since worked with another matchmaking agency and the experience has been worlds apart. I rated them 5 stars on Google: I’m not one to leave a negative review unless it’s absolutely true; what would I gain?
£4K out of pocket, stonewalled, disappointed. I wish Siobhan the best in her endeavours and, regretfully, do not recommend this service.
Screenshots (all sanitised to remove contact details as per Google policies), attached on my Google review, include:
- returned complaint letter unopened.
- slandering my character to colleagues and looping me in.
- telling me not to add her to my list of abusers.

Original Google review:
Nothing much to say except that the guy (SP) who left a 1-star Google review was right 😂. I'm no expert, but have been working with another agency for months now who are experts, in a different league, and have let me know that this simply isn't how the job is done. I've been left pretty traumatised working with this matchmaker. From unprofessional/inappropriate comments on my mental stability😅, to gaslighting and lying in emails, to berating me for asking honest questions and for declining second dates when I didn't want to lead someone on...
Feel free to contact me for my experience.
She eventually had to apologise to me for her tone in speaking to me - but I decided it was bad enough that I'd rather end my membership and forfeit £4K. Yep, that bad.
See attached my Formal Letter of Complaint refused and returned to sender. A safe business hears constructive feedback, rather than stonewalling it.
She's been reported for malicious communications, too, sadly.
I appreciated the photo shoot, stylist opportunity, and the effort put into matching based on MBTI personality type and attachment style. That really meant a lot and I am thankful for that.
However, on balance, I can't in good faith recommend the service.
I would have proceeded with legal, but have decided it not worth the hassle, after the stress already caused. I hope SP below was successful.
I wish them the best and have met a great person outside this service, so feeling grateful. ^.^
