Delibarry Bad Experience / Delibarry.com negative experience
I had a very bad experience with DeliBarry.com. I wanted to arrange a package delivered from Prague to Germany for one of my customers. I filled in the required info including weight, pick up and delivery address and all dimensions of package on the website. Delibarry gave what i thought was an accurate quote. I contacted my client and he agreed to the amounts and paid me. I paid delibarry what they had quoted and i expected the delivery to take place.
My credit card was deducted and I was then contacted via email to inform me there would be extra charges for remote delivery and oversize. These conditions were not mentioned in the sign up process and the charges were significant. If I had have know these charges were in the initial quote i would not have accepted. Now Delibarry hav e my money. They gave me the option to receive a refund or pay the extra amount after delivery.
At this stage I tried to call Delibarry and their telephone number was disconnected. I was concerned. There are very few reviews of their services online and the online help system is not very comprehensive. They had my money and there was no way on guaranteeing that they would refund me. I also found it strange that they gave me the option to pay the extra fees after delivery and this made think there was definitely scamming involved. I do not know any internet based company that offers a pay later service like this. I was very sceptical the company was legitimate. So there was no way i was going to give them more funds at this stage. I approved the extra costs and the shipment after checking with DHL that a proper waybill existed. After all they had my money now and I had nothing to loose.
The parcel was delivered on time thankfully. A few weeks after the delivery Delibarry requested the extra funds. I tried to refute these after arrival of the package as I was not happy with the choices I had and the trust in the company. Eventually they threatened legal action and I paid - including a whooping service / admin fee of US$35. So all up i was an additional US$173 out of pocket.
While legally they operated correctly and the extra service charges for the oversize and remote location may have been legitimate the customer experience I had was not at all acceptable. If a company makes a quote / you pay and then they put that price up at a later date it is an issue with their system and they should take responsibility for it. Offering customers a refund afterwards is not acceptable given the lack of trust and limited info on the brand online and lack of functioning communication channels. I still think its possible that the whole system set up is a scam designed to catch customers like out. I therefore do not recommend using Delibarry.com services.
