Come to Derbyshire and get the true "3rd World" experience...beggars on city centre streets, illegal goods sold freely on most streets ( cheap tobacco though), plenty of barbers shops, kebab shops and shisha bars but you may get murdered in Derby city centre.

Derbyshire County Council have gone out of their way to cause me problems. I have been followed when out walking with my dog. But eventually I turned off location services in my phone and it immediately stopped. I can’t believe the lengths they have gone too to cause problems for me. It all started with me applying for a job with them. They had all my important details as I gave them over when they applied for my DBS. I was successful at the interview then not contacted again afterwards. My husband worked for them previously and I think they are now trying to drive a wedge between us. This treatment is disgraceful. Be careful what information you hand over to them as they have a large database to judge you with later on in life!

A large tree had fallen near a local school, and the response from the council and the contractors was phenomenal. The turnaround from report to attendance was incredibly fast—especially impressive given the potential risk to the school run area.

When I went down to check it out, I was surprised to recognize one of the workers—Lee—who I knew from before. Both Lee and Simon handled the situation with absolute professionalism. They worked fast, stayed focused, and had the area completely cleared in no time.

You don’t always see this level of efficiency and care on local jobs, so credit where it’s due. Outstanding work from the team.

After trying to get Attendance Allowance a few times, I was recommended to use DCC Welfare section. Gave them all the relevant information and left them to it. It wasn’t long before we received payments.
Upon their recommendation I gave them authority to apply for Pension Credit. To say beauracracy at its best is an understatement, this was NOT DCC’s fault but the government’s. First applied Sept 2023 eventually received it in March 2025. They made the ultimate decision to approach my local MP. Through out this time the encouragement from the Welfare Team has been fantastic. I had almost given up hope of ever getting it. The Team is a diligent hard working group of ladies, thank you to you all. Roger S.

I was moved a few times. The occupational therapy was decent however I kept being referred (you think now a days a disability would be understood...
The first time this was done I thought this was just a caring company, however I had approximately 5 referrals... managers didn't know what to do with me...

The fact is I'm not totally crazy!! I felt the pressure of suzann trying to get rid of me in my current job. If you don't suck up to people then unfortunately in this business you have no hope. I worked for the SEN department. So your children with EHCP and Autism Referrals ect. May I just say this team is disgusting!! An elderly lady as a dictator who has to complete all of these referrals (mostly on her own) this is allowed by the company. There's no room for failure so In my eyes there's no room for growth.

We have had upto 200 cases which unfortunately I just had to ignore as I was seen incapable of doing my job. May I just explain my situation? I have dyslexia and sometimes words can mix up for me. I also was deemed emotionally ustanble and my mental health worker says this job really wasn't good for me. The bullying and the ignoring from higher staff members really got to me head.

If you value truth, honesty and understanding this company is definitely not worth it!!! Especially with Suzanne, Crystal, Peter and the rest. Please leave you'll be making DCC a much brighter place without your presence there!!!

Is it me or is Stephanie just trying to get rid of me?

I needed to complete paperwork for a dropped kerb and below is the bizarre email thread I had with Stephanie but it gets worse with Susan.

With the job finished, I posted a glowing review about the trusted trader on the council website and mentioned how grateful I was for taking council Stephanie off my hands (see below with the email thread as to why). Soon after, the contractor rang me and said because of the council comments his rating had been affected. I cannot edit the review and now have to go through council Susan who gave me the following options.

1) Accept her rewrite that removes all negative mentions of the council.
2) Send in my rewrite, the implication being the trader still gets his 5 stars negatively affected if I mention the council again.
3) Leave the comments blank and just put 5 stars, again, no mention of council ridiculousness.

Looks very much like Susan is protecting Stephanie here.

Ms. Kirsty Sharp of Children's Services has reneged on her commitment regarding EHCP plans and has not responded to correspondence. This council's continued failure to adequately serve our children requires immediate intervention from our Members of Parliament.

The most careless organisation. Don't bother complaining because they just talk what's wrong, right. They are full of assumptions and really couldn't care less about people, like myself, with a progressive life limiting illness. They are an absolute disgrace and not fit for purpose.

Visited matlock Town on Saturday 31 Aug 2024. As a disabled person I needed to use the disabled toilet in the park. (There are about 4 toilets in a block near the roundabout). I have a Radar key but found this disabled toilet has a different type of lock. The attendant said that people tend to use the disabled and family toilet at the opposite end rather than having to pay 20p to use the normal toilet. The disabled toilet was being used by two drunk men who had been in there for over 20 mins. The attendant did knock on the door, and asked if they had done as people were waiting. The two guys came out with several bottles of beer. MY POINT..... why on earth do Derbyshire County Council not used the standard Radar key that the rest of the UK use for the disabled toilets and make it easier for the disabled, rather than letting anyone use the disabled toilet if they don't want to pay 20p.

Iv suffered so much fowl play & lies & misinformation about me created by police & social services & mental health workers in Ripley Dr Horton & yelled & shouted at by Dr magui I think that's his name he's now left,the corruption is wide spread involving Dr Frances from ivy grove sergery to.falsy diagnosing me and deliberately hiding it from me whilst everyone else jumps on the bandwagon disrespecting me.because of it ,which started by the police abusing me then putting up a social worker to get me labeled,when I have evidence to prove overwise,by mental health workers that know me very well and we're furious thay were Trying to target me ,but the because thay have more power than a vunrable adult get there way.Thay need to remember I'm not that person & have been monitoring them for some time logging everywhere.Iv had more abuse from public services than the members of the public.shocking & descracfull behaviour form services across Derbyshire.2016 to 2024

DCC's mental health workers are totally useless and have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Refuse to deal with Doctor Andrew Horton, he thinks yes means no, hears things that wasn't said. He must be totally mental.

Trusted Trader - a very disappointing and misleading customer service with surprisingly unprofessional staff. Trusted Trader is not a service for the public; it allows trades people to join the scheme, do a bad job and receive feedback reflecting this. The trader is then permitted to cancel the scheme then rejoin a short time later with a clean sheet

Wow,i see this council hire road work thugs who threaten and swear at members of the public and run at them intending to cause violence, luckily he backed off after swearing and threatening to man passing by....and all off this was captured with recorded proof and a camera which has been posted to youtube...what an utter disgrace for the council to allow this to happen,shame on you.

If I could give them 0-7 I would what an appalling company to work for no equal opportunity in this company I worked for them for 11 years as a caregiver out in all weathers treated us women like dirt cut our pay and when I had an accident giving me permanent back injury they made life very difficult for me couldn’t wait to get rid of me refused to answer the phone totally cut me of from the staff too x even the union were hushed up absolute discusting company !

My advice- Don't use the DCC trusted traders list, they can't even be trusted to make contact.

What a disgrace. 7years with 2 sen children with a wheelchair and equipment who requires carers. For 7years they have had me fight at an unwell single parent for housing that isn't covered in mould that directly puts my daughters health at direct risk. I have fought to allow my child basic necessities in life life a shower, space for a safe bed, lifting equipment so I can lift her without causing injuries too myself or her! They moved me into a purpose built house that is 10mentred from a freight train track. My daughter all of a sudden started having seizures that required CPR. The only explanation is excessive noise at 91.2 decibels and lack of sleep from the train! 11 months ago we became homeless due due a flood, mould and damage too my property that effected the safe use of the electrical equipment. We have been sleeping on a floor on a mattress for 11 months with a severaly disabled child! They can't find us a house so left us on the floor! Social services are just as corrupt all cover for each other as they are all dcc. Liars, cruel, inhumane treatment. We have had our basic human rights stripped from us. I have recordings of social services saying " raegan they are all corrupt' discussing dcc and social care
Even social agree but don't dare challenge it! I have so much evidence my solicitors praised me for practically doing the whole case for her! Record everything they are liars and very corrupt. I was told on the phone and live in a child in need meeting that I could not apply for homelessness as technically I have a home! I recorded that too. My solicitors and citizens advice and the advocacy services have told me that's not allowed as I am homeless as the property isn't suitable and unstable and making my daughter unwell. So they denied me and my children a home for 11 months on a lie! Again stripping us of our basic human rights! As soon as my solicitors contacted dcc they bumped me up to a priority A urgent medical priority
It states my last home is a 2 bed house despite peaks and plains receiving full housing benefits for a 3 bed property ooops!! Sounds dodgy. Since leaving the property that's damp my daughter has not had sepsis once. Not one seizure and not one dose of pneumonia being surrounded by mould. She has respiratory issues too start with from birth. The most vulnerable people in society they will pick and take everything you have including your right to life. Vile. They are all in each other's pockets including the mps as they have literally not helped either despite all knowing my problems for years and still allowing me as an unwell lady to cope alone with a very unwell child! Since leaving my home I've had no carers too help with respite either as I have no home. So thanks dcc. Is there anything else you would like? Oh yes, they have tried to say my mental health is an issue so I shouldn't have my children. Many psychiatrists have done assessments and they say I'm fit and well. I have no mental health issues. I'm a fantastic parent. The nurses sing my praises, my doctors and both schools think I'm a hero. But because I have solicitors involved the local authorities are trying to portray I'm not a good person despite all our achievements. Oh dear. Be very careful I will continue too expose the truth now. Expect another review soon guys. I can't be done for slander either as I have that much evidence it proves beyond reasonable doubt everything I say is facts.

We had awp plumbing to put in a new boiler and flue today date 16/6/23,the old boiler was 12 years old and in a bad way, now we have this ideal boiler installed with a 10 year warranty, Jacob Westley installed it gas safe and trusted trader, in good order now and Jacob had 2 colleagues to help with the ladder to go 12 mtrs high in our complex, both myself and wife are very pleased with the work done, credit to awp,we have always used these plumbers because they are very reliable and finish the job to the end.thank you from ray/betty Richardson from ilkeston.

Derbyshire Trusted Traders site is supposed to list traders that have been vetted and who offer honest trustworthy service. While there MAY be some genuine traders on the site my view, and that of many others I have since spoken to, is anyone can get listed if you pay the fee to be listed. Also DCC do not let 'customers' leave true negative reviews (hence everyone seems whiter than white and too good to be true).

My experience is I needed a roofer to do some work, I found 3 within 5 miles and sent emails with details of job, 2 didn't bother to get back to me, 1 (with a professional looking site and lots of accreditations listed) got back after 2 days and said I should phone to arrange date for quote - after repeated attempts I eventually managed to speak to Liam who said he would call round next day at 11.30am - did he hell as like!! My text asking if there had been a problem preventing him calling or if I had got day/time wrong went unanswered!! This despite rave so called customer reviews about friendly, reliable customer service and being a good communicator!

Why if traders don't want the job can't they just be honest upfront and say so? Given Covid problems over last year traders can now be picky about what they do, particularly if they work cash in hand and can also get govt covid handouts. My advice:
1. Don't believe or trust trader review sites or social media reviews.
2. Ask friends & family for traders they have used and been happy with.
3. Walk round neighbourhood to see if others have work being done so you can inspect
4. Get quote in writing.
5.NEVER pay cash. Pay with Credit or Debit card so if there are any problems the card company is jointly liable. (If trader says they only accept cash or bank transfer it is a con and you shouldn't use them and instead report to trading standards and HMRC).
6. Only pay AFTER all work has been completed satisfactorily (never cash - see 5 above) and get receipt.
7. You may be given guarantee but these are worthless, even insurance backed ones.
8. NEVER employ someone that cold calls asking if you want work done.

Not a trustworthy reviews website they come with all kinds of rubbish of why you can't leave a review. I would not trust the traders on this website or the websites general integrity.
