This company needs to be investigated what they did to my son is against the law and if any wants to know they totaled my sons car out after months of absolute laziness on their agents behalf and he was going to by it back and well they gave him a number and what was left from the check where they totaled it which buy back was of lower than check because your buying a totaled car but when he ask for the rest of his money they kept it and run a line of crap about auction when it never went to any auction or auction house I see why everyone is pissed this insurance is a scam just like the business

Wish I could give zero stars! I hit a deer and totaled my Audi. They said the dear damage was $5900 and the car would have been worth 7k but they docked me for any “unrelated” damage they could possibly find. They claimed the motor was bad and it wasn’t a result of the accident, curb rash on wheels and a supposed stain on the carpet and scratches on the tailgate. Never get insurance through Direct Auto Insurance. Liberty Mutual didn’t do this to me with my Nissan they gave me too blue book value plus the taxes I would pay to replace it.
Direct Auto is a total scam!

Ripped us off!!! Beware they are SHADY

We moved to Direct auto because insurance in Louisiana is crazy expensive. Our rates for 3 vehicles and a new driver werent bad. High, but for Louisiana, managable.

One of our cars we moved up to full coverage because daughter was driving a lot to and from college. And had sent in the requested photos (front and back of vehicle) on the same day requested and even paid the increase and first monthly payment as requested. Well, my daughter car caught fire on her way home one day and completely destroyed. And as soon as we filed a claim, everything went bad. Direct claimed we weren't covered because we had not submitted photos, so we showed the email response say pics were received the same day they were requested. Then it was we werent covered because of payment but premium and increase and first monthly since upgrade were made and collected with no issues. Direct referred our case hire and decided we were only covered for collision although our documents stated otherwise. Needless to say car didnt get recovered and settled. Direct is a rip and if you can avoid it, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DIRECT AUTO

That star is because you have to give at least 1. Absolute worst customer service. Worst claims department. Its the audacity for me that you call yourself a business. Like truthfully it would be exhausting to explain in detail. Just don't ever buy insurance from them. Heed the warnings in all these negative reviews!

I’m 70 years old worst insurance…

I’m 70 years old worst insurance company ever dealt with in my life. Customer service sucks has no idea what they’re doing. Keep mailing required forms in but they say they don’t receive them and then they charge me a late fee for they not receiving them sent them in registered mail. They signed for him said they still didn’t receive them. They sent you a bill without proof of insurance and when you call for proof of insurance, they don’t send you that either. I would not recommend them to anybody shop around. I save $300 a year anyway.

I would give them a zero this Car Insurance sucks at the cracker jack Insurance well it’s gonna be three years with them and I just got better insurance today. Everyone stay away from direct national insurance. They say they do not have the papers that you have to send back so then I certified mailed it. They signed for it when I certified it and they said they still don’t have them they give you fake names and numbers to call and say I will be your agent. It is not the right number. It gives you Mexico you don’t know what country you’re calling to get a hold of your agent. You don’t have an agent they just like to do a run around. And by them not by not getting it, they say as a signed certified mail. They hit me with the late charge. I found better insurance today and I just canceled them. This new Insurance I paid $300 cheaper than this crap cracker Jack Insurance people stay away from this Car Insurance you get screwed.

Idallis Castillo is the most unprofessional claims adjuster. She expressed no empathy, returns no calls, and a complete disaster as she explained other claims being more important and not concerned with mine specifically. This is a terrible experience and should be handled promptly and with utmost concern and care. Her manager Salvatore displays same qualities. During the process you have an option to either upload photos or reach out to adjuster for other options. After nearly a month your forced to send photos for an estimate. Clearly unethical practices. This claims department is totally a disgrace to the Claims department industry. Very poor character, integrity, and morality. Just a complete disgust.

Faulty Autopay System and clueless agents.

This company seemed great and the affordability was even better. I’m giving low stars because the auto pay system was not working at all. My husband set up auto pay 3 separate times over and over. The first payment went through, and he set up autopay. He autopays everything or else he forgets. Next month comes and he assumes we have car insurance. Luckily no accidents because the autopay failed us and was nonfunctional. He received a text saying he was past due and needed to make a payment. He thought maybe he did the auto pay incorrect and so he set up autopay again and he made the 2nd monthly payment late. Then the 3rd month rolls by and the same exact thing happens again!!!!!! He gets the text. He told me about this crappy software for the autopay. I told him to call but he is very hands on and always available for his job and other ventures he has. He should not have to even call and tell a company that the autopay is inoperable and it’s making him late every month. He probably got fees too but he didn’t tell me. Sounds like a sketchy setup if late fees are added. Anyways.. soon enough I got into a minor traffic accident with a construction company. I did no damage to the other truck, they were behind me and I honestly didn’t see or know how it happened, but I’m assuming they were close to me when I was getting over in their lane and I didn’t see them maybe? I honestly didn’t think it was my fault and the worker never even said what he experienced. He stayed quiet and would only say he needed to call his manager. I texted hubby for car insurance info because I had just got a new phone and didn’t have the info. He sends me a screenshot of it. The construction manager said they had to call the cops to make a report of the traffic accident, fine by me. I give the cop my phone to show proof of insurance. Every thing is good. I sent the photos to the email requested. Then the next day or so I did not get any email reply at all. I call direct auto self and inquire about the whole incident as a whole. The person just wanted to transfer me to someone else. This man I was transferred to was nice but what he told me was weird. He said we did not have car insurance at the time of my accident And my husband paid it after I got into the accident. Which I confirmed with my husband. But I did tell the guy that it was an ongoing issue of the auto pay system malfunctioning and it doesn’t work at all. It’s not the first time my husband has had to pay the insurance After he was reminded once!!!!! IF the direct auto pay system worked we would’ve been covered. It’s insane timing and it makes us look bad 100% but that it far from the actual truth. That was my first
Ever accident in my life. I had my baby with me. I didn’t plan anything. I’m a mom of 4. The man I was transferred to told me because of the false claims we made Direct Auto are not covering the accident, the accident was my fault, and they are dropping us indefinitely. It was a huge error on their part. This should have never been an issue. I wonder if others have autopay error with direct auto??????? It’s not only us. It’s a shame on them. This happened in November 2025. The construction company told me no harm done and that they were not making any claims with their insurance and they’re not faulting me at all for the accident. I wish I would’ve never even called direct auto to make the claim. The guy told me now I have an accident on my file because of it. And to top that off direct auto tried to get n extra payment out of us even though he paid NOVEMBER. Even though we weren’t covered past October!!!!!! They never tried getting it anymore after their first request call because they know they’re wrong. So I DO NOT RECOMMEND DIRECT AUTO INSURANCE AT ALL.

I wish I could give negative stars

I wish I could give negative stars. When ESurance transitioned out of the game I ended up with them as my policy holder because I was too busy to shop around. I regret this deeply. Completely on me. I was in school and just focusing on getting my education. I paid $285 a month despite having excellent credit, zero accidents, never missing a payment, etc.

I just bought a second car for our family and had time over spring break to shop around. I got TWO CARS covered through Progressive, plus renters insurance. I am saving $50 a month for TWO cars to be covered. Plus saving $25 a month on renters insurance that I had through Lemonade. Absolutely insane to me that I allowed myself to get scammed by these slimeballs.

They tried to give me a hard time that my wife “knows” about this policy being cancelled. Despite her not being a title holder, not paying the bill, etc. The guy actually raised his voice that she was going to get in trouble when she was pulled over with no insurance. Excuse me? Wtf. I never said I was driving without insurance. You could theoretically see through DMV that I already have another policy you POS.

Do not use this company unless you wanna deal with slimeballs who will take advantage of you financially. Smh.

I have been a faithful loyal customer…

I have been a faithful loyal customer for 9 years and without notice they cancel me I paid 178.00 a month just paid it March 15 and today they cancel my policy the person who took the call was rude and very disrespectful unprofessional did not appreciate it at all I work in customer service everyday so yeah not playing them games with this person I don’t understand why they have a job talking to people like that I’m like excuse me stated will not get my money back and stated supervisor will back them up well good for them
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL, CALL AT YOUR OWN RISK

WORST INSURANCE

WORST INSURANCE.

Waited from 8am to 1pm (5 hours) for roadside assistance. The first ETA starting at 8am was 40 minutes. Everytime I called to see if they were still even coming they just kept saying.. “yeah they are on the way they’ll be there in half an hour. When I ask whats going on they say “not sure no specific reason”

After calling multiple times and hearing “be there in half an hour” over and over I eventually lost hope and just smashed out my window on the fifth hour of waiting.

Worst company ever. Support doesn’t care one bit. Doesn’t help. Won’t give information or communicate. They Will tell you they’re 20 minutes away for 5 hours straight. Than when you complain they don’t care…. completely fine and unphased and maybe even proud of how awful they are as a company.

Ghetto business practices and a scam. Charge me 185 for a 2011 with perfect driving history. I now pay 69 with progressive. Can never talk to anyone about your policy. They aren't open when they say their hours of operations are. Terrible terrible rathole of a business!

Beware!!!

Beware!!!! Awful service! I don’t speak injun and it takes 2 hours to get someone on the phone to file a claim. Added a vehicle for liability and get billed for collision for 4 months straight after calling and requesting to change.

Let me tell the world about this company the fact i was given a low price to start insurance with this company drop my previous company to join this Scam company is unbelievable 1st off they said if I got the drive dynamic my insurance was low and for them to raise my car insurance in a week is Ridiculous ask me for my health Insurance cards sent them and then the system didnt reveal it...Was hung up on 3times trying to find out this information was outrageous then I did get a young lady who did everything to keep my price Yolianna was so professional then I was told that I needed a letter from my health Insurance stating coverage if there was a accident wait a min..From 1 extreme to next not to give me the price I was told from jump this company is locked in with several companies as well they ask for declaration letter from last company to determine how much ur going to pay and at the end the really bullshit u for the sign up money why is Nobody watching these insurance companies and they charge whatever they want..Im looking for another insurance company ...My car insurance is just as much as my car note.🤯😈🤬

I called today to cancel coverage on 1 of my 3 vehicles because im putting it in storage, and even tho im canceling 9 days before the bill is due, I have to pay for this month on that car and the car won't be covered anymore. No other insurance has ever done that to me. I would definitely not suggest getting this insurance. It's safe auto, just renamed.

I am writing to formally make a… : Formal Complaint Regarding Unauthorized Premium Increase and Billing

I am writing to formally make a complaint due to unauthorized charges of $2,109.69 that was withdrawn from my bank account by Direct Auto Insurance under National General.

When I initially set up my auto insurance policy over the phone with your agent, I provided all requested information and was quoted a monthly premium of $389.00. At no point during the enrollment process was I informed that additional documentation from the county where I first received my driver’s license would be required or that my premium could significantly increase if such documentation was not provided.

Approximately 28 days after the policy began, I received a notification from my bank that $2,109.69 had been deducted from my account. When I contacted customer service, I was informed that the premium increased because proof regarding my original driver’s license—issued outside the country—was required. I was also advised that I had only two days to submit this documentation or my insurance premium would increase again.

This requirement was never disclosed by the agent during the policy setup. Had I been informed of this condition or the possibility of such a drastic premium change, I would not have agreed to move forward with the policy. I switched insurers based on the quoted premium, and the unexpected withdrawal of over $2,000 from my account without clear prior notice is unacceptable.This situation has caused significant financial hardship and appears to be a failure to properly disclose policy requirements during the sales process. This company needs to be investigated promptly!!
