I placed a greater than $1,000 order…
I placed a greater than $1,000 order for lenses and gear with Diver Vision. All items were advertised as being in stock, and that there was free shipping for orders over $1,000. Upon checkout, there was no option for shipping beyond DHL, at about $70 fee. I was then notified that some items were not in stock, even though they continued to be advertised as in stock. I notified Diver Vision of the advertising misstatements and was told that free shipping was only for EMS - Express Mail Service. I sent a screen shot showing that DHL was the only option that is presented. Despite ordering these "in stock" items three weeks before a dive trip, they did not arrive in time. Upon return from my trip, I had a DHL notice that there would be about $160 import duty fees that needed to be paid within 5 days or the shipment would be sent back to the manufacture. Contacted Diver Vision, and they pointed to a buried shipping policy that customs duties, etc. are the responsibility of the customer. This is a Taiwan company acting like a US business, advertising low prices, but not making clear that US buyers will have a hefty additional charge. And they were not truthful about items being in stock or shipping being free.
