Professional staff and quality products

I visited Dobbie's Boston store looking for garden furniture, the assistant Thurston couldn't have been more professional and helpful with no pressure to buy. I did purchase a lovely garden set. Thurston is a credit to the company.

Visit to the Boston garden centre

Visited the Boston garden centre on Thursday and it was advertised 20% off on top of any offers .
We purchased 3 packs of French beans advertised as now £8 from £10.
At the checkout we expected a further 20% off, but no, apparently this was the 20% off!
Continued with purchase but was very disappointed as the offer was misleading

Don’t waste your time

Been here today for a look round and lunch. Both my husband and I ordered paninis and I ordered Mediterranean couscous to go with mine and my husband ordered tomato and cucumber salad to go with this and we ordered a pot of tea for two. When the food arrived they weren’t paninis at all they were baguettes toast on the top and made to look like paninis. My Mediterranean couscous was freezing cold obviously having just been taken out of the fridge and consisted of couscous split peas parsley and red onion. This certainly wasn’t anywhere near Mediterranean couscous. It had not seasoning and was extremely bland. My husband’s cucumber and tomato salad was a piece of sliced cucumber and some sliced tomato just bungednon his plate. All I can say was at least the tea was ok.

We then ventured around the garden centre particularly the outdoor plants as we were looking for bedding plants for the garden. All I can say is that they were of poor quality and all were root bound and all very dry. I wondered when they had last been watered as it certainly wasn’t today.

We had travel from Lincoln to Boston to get to Dobbies and needless to say everything was so bad we felt disheartened and came away saying we won’t bother going back there again.

We go to garden centres a lot of usually the food is of good quality and of a reasonable price but it certainly wasn’t here and also plants from garden centres are normally of good quality and value for money again not the case here.

There are a lot better garden centres than this in the county so I’d advise people not to go to Dobbies.

Restaurant service is painfully slow

Restaurant service is so incredibly slow. Once you finally get your tea or coffee, you've drunk it or it's gone cold by the time your food arrives. Certainly won't be returning.

Appalling service in the restaurant at…

Appalling service in the restaurant at Boston Lincolnshire. 40 minutes wait for Sandwiches and soup. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Customer care non existent

Customer care non existent. Purchased plant but b&Q £15 cheaper, same size. Don’t bother visiting Boston store restaurant or coffee shop. The restaurant table service is always , even if you’re just wanting a drink, very slow, waiting 40 minutes or more mostly . Today went to the coffee shop, started to clear a table myself to be told had to make way for a customer with dogs, even though I had arrived before that person and had started clearing the table. I asked if the dogs took precedence over a human and was told yes! This was the last straw. Peterborough Dobbies restaurant very cold. Will not be renewing my card or shopping with any Dobbies stores again. Manager just says sorry but does nothing to improve.

OVER PRICED and UNDER STAFFED.

OVER PRICED and UNDER STAFFED.
Especially the restaurant, table service was very slow. Ever since the counter service was removed and the restaurant reconfigurated, at least you could have a drink while you waited!! Apologies were given for delays, but this is not a unique experience, sorry in this case is just a word.
That's apart from the garden centre and food store which is still overpriced......

I was amazed at the lack of staff to advise and help at 11.00am.
The condition of the plants on show were short of watering and tall plants had fallen over and been left was obvious.
The floor plan for compost and associate goods as no direction and sparsely spread out. No one available for lifting. Gravel and Pearlite was not available which by March should be for potting.The price of your compost was quite expensive , no offers.
I will not be using your garden centre again

Dobbies Boston

For the second time we ended up leaving without getting served. The first time we put down to staff shortages or too many customers but it seems it’s just appalling customer service! Certainly reading the reviews on here and Tripadvisor beforehand would have saved us the bother!
Today we were greeted and a table was pointed out to us. We were told that someone would be over to take our order. After about 15 minutes we stopped a member of staff and asked if we could order. She went to talk to someone and came back and said that “there’s a system - there’s 2 tables before you”
We watched and waited as around 12 other tables were approached and served including at least 6/7 groups/couples who had arrived at least 10/15 minutes after us.
We stopped another member of staff (the one who had originally greeted us) and asked if we could order to be told “‘Im looking for table 11” (it turned out they had just arrived)

In all we were there about 40 minutes. Several staff saw us preparing to leave but chose to say nothing.

Appalling service!
