Dobbies Garden Centres - Telford Avis 344

The system of only having one cafe till and that operator taking your order and payment, serving cakes and then answering queries and going to get cutlery etc means it is slow, inefficient and poor customer service. I write this whilst queuing to be served. It can't be a Dobbies policy as Shrewsbury operates a totally different system that works. Could not fault the staff member on the till though. Then a lengthy wait for the coffee and cake eaten before it arrived. Surely can't be the only one thinking this.

I called in at a dobbies on my way home from birmingham last week and decided to try the bargain priced pensioners special
I had fish chips and peas and a superb lemon cake
Oh my goodness!what a delicious meal!the fish was absolutely wonderful,hand battered with crunchy coating and superb white fish inside,the whole meal was a fantastic experience from start to finish,I’ll definitely be going back again,and at only £12 I can afford it every week if I want to.

I visited the café recently using my loyalty scheme free coffee and decided to order the vegetarian breakfast. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.

I waited several minutes at the till while staff appeared unsure how to resolve a simple issue. Eventually an older member of staff briefly stepped in to help several customers, but I was left to place my order with a very young and clearly inexperienced staff member, who was polite but not properly supported.

While ordering, it was called out that there were no beans, which wasn’t mentioned to me directly or reflected in the price. I was told I could “double up” on something else, so I asked for extra mushrooms. What arrived was two very small, dry mushrooms.

The breakfast overall was extremely poor: dry mushrooms, lukewarm sausages, a very small amount of scrambled egg (around three mouthfuls), and half a tomato that amounted to little more than a bite. The food felt basic, poorly prepared, and not good value for money.

This was honestly one of the worst café breakfasts I’ve had in years, and it felt more like a 1970s school dinner than a café meal. Sadly, it’s put me off returning, and I wouldn’t recommend the vegetarian breakfast based on this experience.

Absolutely Amazing!!!!!
I attended the witches and wizard afternoon tea event with my 4 year old niece.
From the moment we arrived it was magical.
The store itself is decorated for halloween and Christmas.
We made our way to the restaurant area and were greeted by hogwarts staff.
They directed us to our decorated table with activties for the children to do.
The children then received a spooky themed afternoon tea.
I loved the coffin shapped sandwiches and the ghost shaped scone.
Thats not all, After tea more activities of games and craft stations.
The children made a wand, a fizzy potion and slime, all to take home.

This event is great value for money.
The staff are amazing, they went above and beyond.

Thank you dobbies for an amazing day full of wonderful memories.
We have already booked for the Father Christmas event.

Food cold came out over 30 mins before drinks complained twice to be told 'we are busy' !!!! No staff clearing tables utter shambles ....still waiting for drinks. Off to Mere Park Newport.

Shocking system. Took nearly an hour to go from the one end of the queue to the till. Once at the til a notice states 45 minutes wait. To be fair it was only about 30 minutes to be served with both drinks and food. My friend ordered soup and a half baguette. The soup was cold and the baguette was one of those which you buy part baked but appeared not to have been. My tuna melt was just about acceptable. Not worth time or trouble ,felt sorry for the waiter who we complained to.

I received a gift card and tried to complete an order on-line I rang support to learn you can't use gift cards online. I went to my nearest store Telford where the staff made every effort to helpmy wife and I as we are disabled. However, every item I was trying to order was not available. There was no June discount apllied on what I did buy.
I have only used half the gift card so I have to visit another branch.

We went for dinner and my partner found a hair in his dinner and my mom had no cheese on her cheese and tomato pannini absolutely awful so we let them know and was offered a cake as a good will gesture. Won't be eating here again. Overpriced for what it's worth.

Clearly not enough staff. Mediocre food which took 35 minutes to arrive. Table after table waiting to be cleaned. Even teas and coffees were taking ages and then lukewarm. For the price you would expect more.

I recently went to meet friends for coffee and cake at tge Telford branch.
We sat one of the sofas, on sitting there we notice how filthy the walls and skirting boards were. It certainly looked like they hadn't been cleaned for months. The whole area had a real grubby feel to it, and not a place you'd rush back to.

The young lady serving us had certainly lost her 'get up and go' along with any customer service skills required in a waiting on role.

I think more people were using the cafe area because of the free drink offer they can use on their loyalty card. I can say we won't be rushing back there for a coffee and cake, anytime soon.

Tina went above and beyond as one of our group ordered something they didnt have but Tina went tk waitrose to grab some mushrooms

Our favourite garden centre. Dog friendly and restaurant is nice. Staff friendly.

Love Dobbies at Donnington. Lovely, healthy plants, helpful staff and a card scheme that does actually give rewards ! Okay there is an annual charge but the benefits far exceed it with just a few visits.

Staff very helpful about renewing my Dobbies card for next year..
The lady helped me pack my purchases so they were easier for me to transport.

I find that changes in Menu with Traditional Breakfast, incurs a cost.

Obtained exactly what I wanted. Enjoyed tea and cake as well as my garden purchases.
