Docklow Pools Avis 

Have just had a 3 night stay in the newly refurbished Bluebell cottage. It is well equipped, spacious and very comfortable. Plenty of parking and a picnic bench outside overlooking the fields.
The fishing lakes were all fishing well, with several lakes to choose from. The tackle shop is fully stocked with knowledgeable, helpful friendly staff.
The Fishermans Arms is most definitely the place to eat, great menu choice and a specials board. The desserts simple divine. Would highly recommend! The carvery is the best around with 4 choices of meat and lots of different fresh vegetables. Would highly recommended you booked a table.

First class fishing lakes well stocked quality fish and a good variety of lakes / pools although very limited if you are visiting on a day ticket only. However, there is a coldness and very underwhelming feel about the personnel who have little hospitality skills and border on rude especially in the very well stocked tackle shop. With the exception of one female staff member you were made to feel almost untrustworthy whilst browsing and making enquiries.
Fished a residents match and no staff were there to start or end the match ie: whistle or vocal. Payout was not explained so sums didn't seem to add up and although you pay upfront for all day tickets when staying in accommodation it appears you also pay a match entry fee ( yes.. it is all in the exstensive / excessive reams of rules you are sent when booking and repeated on arrival but I feel this is not a fair deal) This again makes you feel somewhat exploited. Everything seemed geared to profit with little effort towards customers having an enjoyable stay. The accommodation is clean and fairly modern with just enough amenities. Overall I and other guests felt very controlled and not really appreciated as customers more as an inconvenience and there only for the money we were contributing. Maybe a few courses in hospitality and customer care wouldn't go amiss. Shame really as it is a beautiful location with a great well laid out fishery.. if only the staff realised we were all paying guests and tried more to make you feel welcome and appreciated as customers there to enjoy a holiday experience . Hence I can only offer 3 stars.

In the heart of North Herefordshire lies Docklow Pools. In my opinion the best fishing holiday resort in the hole of the UK.

Having fished these pools for many years i have encountered nothing but greatness whether you like to rod fish for carp, catfish, tench, or silvers on a pole.
